I hope your surgery went well. I have not picked a doctor out yet. I went to a meeting at Presby and really liked the surgeon. But come to find out, I have to choose a dr with cmc. My insurance dosen't kicked in till May 1st, so I am hoping to at least go too couple more seminars and then choose. -

Hey! I am from the Charlotte area also. What Dr. are you using? -
I will have medicare and then Humana as my supplement insurance. But all my research it showing that Humana does not cover the VSG due to being "new" I speak with my insurance agent on Wed. I just want to be informed on different type of medicare supplement insurance. They cover lap band, and the bypass. I just want the sleeve done.

It just seem very common.

I have notice that a lot of people get the lap band also has to have a hernia repaired. Do you know you have a hernia or is it found in surgery? Having the hernia does it effect the procedure?

kjntwins replied to hudson52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The nercosis just started about a year ago, it hurts badly but nothing that I am not used too. I have twin 5 year olds, and I am wanting them to be older before I get a hip replacement. They say I will be in the hospital for a week and rehab for up too 3 weeks. But it somthing that has to be done, it can't correct itself. Thank you for the info, being on predisone puts you at a different playing field. -

Are you still using steroids? I don't know if I can move without them. I also have necrosis of the hip, but they are estimating about 3 years before hip replacement -
Rheumatoid Arthritis & Lap Band Surgery

I am 29 and have RA for 10 years now. I go for my seminar next Monday, without the okay from the rhuematologist. He does NOT agree with me on this. But I am hoping I can find a dr to perform the lapband on me. I take predisone everyday along with motrin. -
Hi! I am new to this. I go to the seminar for lap band on July 11th. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and take several medications. My main medication I take every night is predisone. I have heard that I can not take any type of steroid during this process. My rhuematologist dosen't agree with me and WLS. So I didn't even tell him I started the process. I am 29 years old married with twin boys that are 5. I was dx with RA at 19 and have been on long term steroid use for 7 years now. I am ready to have my life back and hoping losing 100 pounds can put my ra in remission. Thanks! Kim
