    July 2011 Bandsters!

10 Days post-op: No gas pains at all Only my port area has any discomfort. Going back to work tomorrow (I would have been back sooner but got a cold that made me miserable) Started on mushies early (bad me, I just couldn't drink another meal. It was making me gag >.<) Feel really good over all, I have no problems drinking anything or eating my mushies which have mostly consisted of mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs lol I still drink my Protein shake because I just don't get hungry but I space it throughout the day, want to make sure I get my protein in. And...drum roll please.....18lbs since I started the pre-op diet I love my band!!

    July 2011 Bandsters!

I was just sitting here thinking that my thoughts seem to be consumed by food lol I can't wait to be able to eat mushies!! I dreamed of a cheeseburger last night *sigh* I know I wont be having that on mushies it was just a comment to show where my brain is at right now. I'm hoping that when I can eat mushies I won't be so darn focused on eating! I swear I didn't think this much about food before the band. Hopefully this passes as you start to eat real food. I have even considered started mushies early, I just don't want to mess anything up. I'm only a week post-op and I feel like I haven't eaten in months lol

    Is this normal?

My port site is very sore too. All my other incisions are fine and no pain, the port site hurts INSIDE. I don't like it lol. It hurts a lot when I sit and change positions.... hopefully it stops soon *sigh*

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Hey Serifa, I'm 7 days out and if I hadn't caught a nasty cold from my daughter I would be back at work lol. The only problem I have is my port site is really really tender and hurts when I move certain ways. It wouldn't keep me from working though. I have been walking around the house a lot so I haven't had any gas pains since the 3rd day after surgery. Everything else feels fine. Hope that helps

    protein

The recommended protein is based on a regular persons intake, most people who just do normal things and some cardio exercise can't process more than around 25g of protein at a time. Professional athletes can process more than this and I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule. However you should follow your Dr's office advice, mine says around 25g per meal so that's what I'm going for
  7. I know that you aren't suppose to drink with meals after you move to mushie foods. I have heard a couple different things though about how long before. I think my doctor only says not to drink during and for about an hour after. Also, does this mean even if you are eating Soup? Just curious as to what everyone does. Thanks

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Hey Shauna, I had to give myself shots after surgery. Today was my last one thank goodness. It should be Lovenox, or something similar. The needles aren't that bad but I couldn't give myself the shot, hubby has to do it. He does it each morning in my "love handles" we alternate sides, the medicine burns a bit though the needle isn't bad. NOT my favorite part or post-op. It's for one week after surgery to prevent blood clots.

    Any July 2011 Bandsters?

I have noticed this a bit also. I couldn't even feel my band the first 5 days post-op. Now I seem to feel it in the morning and late in the evening. Still waiting to decide if that's a good thing or not lol

    TRICARE PRIME PATIENTS

I just got my lap band last week through tri-care. They were pretty easy for me. I had to do a psych eval, meet with the nutritionist, pap & mamogram, attend a seminar and get an ekg along with the standard blood work. I started my journey in April and had surgery June 30th. Good luck, hope it's as easy for you

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Ugh I'm starving!! lol Ok not really but yeesh. I can't wait for mushies! DH who has been wonderful went to the store to pick up Soup and thought he was being helpful by getting Healthy choice Soups....bleck. They all have no flavor, I'm dying here. I am not a fan of the Protein shakes to begin with, the only way I got through pre-op was because I could chug them at each meal and be alright. Now I have to sip...not going to well. I know it sounds bad but I'm so happy that some of you guys are having trouble staying on liquids too lol. On the upside, my incisions are healing great, itchy of course and I keep picking at the glue stuff but they feel good. The only one I have pain in at all is the port site, that does a weird pulling thing when I bend over to far, hope that goes away. One week left on liquids....I can do it!!! *crosses fingers*

    Chew and Spit?

I did that yesterday! We were at a 4th of July BBQ and I wanted real food so badly! One of our friends had made these pork loin things on the grill and they smelled so good I just wanted to chew something for a minute! So I took a bit of the one my husband had and chewed it...it was sooo good. Then I spit it out cuz I don't want to mess up my band lol
  16. How often do you guys weigh in? I had lost 10lbs to include the pre-op diet two weeks and then I weighed myself and have gained 2 lbs since yesterday. I am only 4 days post op so I am not eating anything but liquids but it makes me nervous to gain at this point. Is there typically a lot of fluctuation?

    Extremely Hungry Today

I am going through the same thing. I just drink constantly to keep the hunger at bay. I drink my broth, my protein shakes, my water, my tea....I am so darn excited for the mushie stage I can't stand it lol. Although I get to start full liquids on tuesday, I am soooo ready for that!

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Day 3 post op is much better. I am actually starting to want some food, although not really hungry. Just want to chew something. My DH & Son had pizza last night and I wanted some so bad that I ate a small piece of sausage just to chew it and spit it out I was happy after that lol Things are starting to sound appealing again but I'm not actually HUNGRY...which makes me so very happy. I am anxious for mushies but satisfied with my Protein shakes and broth and herbal tea for now. Pain is much better today also. Only sore at the port sight, at least what I'm assuming is the port....its the largest incision. DH can't seem to remember what the dr said about the port and I forgot to ask. No gas pains now, no sore throat, feeling pretty good over all except still pretty tired. And sorry for a sensitive subject but no bm since the day before surgery....hopefully this wont be a problem. Hope everyone is feeling better and our future band mates are getting ready!!

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Hey guys, so for some reason lapbandtalk.com decided to not let me log in any more with my password, no matter how many times I changed it. So I finally just created a new profile today. So if you had me on your friends list before as Tracy_N please add this one now Well 2 days post op and feel pretty good. Got in my Protein shake today...although I hated it. I am working on the Water, hard to drink that much when you arent that hungry. Still sore at my port incision and where I believe the band is but nothing I cant handle. Only took pain meds once today And even with the bloating from the gas and surgery, still down 10lbs from when I started the pre-op diet Woot! Good luck everyone, I also posted this on our pre-op July Bandsters thread
