Sleeve size changing??
Tippy2us replied to Brockcrawford's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I experience the same thing too. I think it's more "normal" because we are a lot more aware of how much we eat now. Before I could eat as much as I wanted and still want dessert. Now I'm aware of when I MUST stop, and sometimes its quicker than other times. The point is, I'm paying attention now instead of gorging myself all the time. -

Congratulations to all of you!! This surgery is a modern day miracle. I haven't been this low in 25 years! I feel so great, get so many compliments. Everyday I just have to giggle I'm so happy, and you will all know what I'm talking about soon! Bessings to all of you!! -
Hi everyone, I just stumbled on this topic and I love it! I was sleeved on June 27th and I have really slowed down. I'm down 36 lbs in about 14 weeks, which is less than 3 lbs a week. But in the last month I'm averaging 1 lb a week. It's horribly frustrating, but I guess slow is good as long as it keeps coming off. Have any of you noticed that maybe you weren't eating enough? I remember that from Weight Watchers...so I ate a couple hundred more calories a day and broke my stall. I don't know, I just would love to be down 40 lbs when I go see surgeon on October 19th. I haven't see him since one week after surgery. Take care :-)

UPDATE! Okay everyone, I've been eating more calories for a little over 2 weeks now and this week I have lost 4 lbs!!!! 2 on Wednesday, 1 on Friday, and 1 more today. I ate a little something every 2.5 hours or so and cut my exercise way down (not on purpose though, it just got too cold to swim). I think my body was holding on to everything it could and now it feels safe to let it go!! I'm going to keep this up and I'll report back. Take care everyone and don't be afraid to experiment!

Hi there, I'm on 3 meals and 2 snacks. Up until about 10 days ago I was eating a maximum of 800 calories a day which worked great for a while but I noticed people losing a lot more than me on about 300 calories more than me. I also exercise...water aerobics twice a week and biking the rest of the time so I thought maybe I was eating too little....so we'll see how it goes. I've upped my calories and seen a little improvement in the weight loss but not much. Steady in the right direction will win the race. I know this. Thanks much!

Goodness gracious! YOu're a skinny person now and even skinny people's weight fluctuates. Congratulations! YOu are an inspiration to me!

You probably need to eat more calories. Your metabolism is non-existant. Also, talk to your doc about Prevacid Solutabs. Miracle drug! If your insurance won't cover it Costco has the best price. Good luck and hang in there! It will get better .

How Soon Were You Back To Work?
Tippy2us replied to Tai29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a desk job and I went back in 9 days. I was really tired though. I would suggest half days for a week if possible. -
Welcome! I"m from So. Cal too. Had my surgery on June 27th and couldn't be happier!

Coops is correct! I can guzzle water down and if I'm drinking something real cold or real hot I feel it go all the way down! First time it happened I thought for sure I was leaking LOL. But give me half a cup of soup and I'm stuffed.

what did I get myself into
Tippy2us replied to dmcubfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doc immediately. There is something he can give you for that. Be sure to take tiny little sips of water every 5 minutes...it's very important to get fluids in. Just make the sips tiny. Good luck.. -
Allergic to med tape???
Tippy2us replied to emily_0192010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are alergic to latex! It's something that develops over time and gets worst with time. From now on you need to list it as something you are allergic to. I'm the same way and it's awful! I would suggest "googling" it to see if there's something really good to put on it. Good luck! -
This post is SO helpful to me! I'm stalled big time and only 3 months out. Some of my VSG friends have lost more than me in half the time! I have been eating less than 800 calories a day, and shooting for 40 carbs a day but had no energy and my thinking is kind of foggy. On Friday I googled calorie intake and dieting and found a lot of information about metabolism, or lack there of. It's very interesting stuff. So just this weekend I decided to up my calories to 1,000-1,100 per day with a few more carbs. I HOPE it works. I'm going to try it for a week or two to see if maybe I've been in starvation mode and therefore hanging on to my fat. I have all of the symptoms! Wish me luck!

Update, 15 minutes later...I had small corn tortillas, a can of fire roasted tomatoes, fresh mozarella, fresh parmesan, olives, and mushrooms so I gave it a whirl and WOW so yummy! And hubby loved it too. The corn tortillas add an extra kick, and makes me think of something else....Mexican Pizza! So excited ... thank you again!

That sounds wonderful! I'm going to buy the ingredients today and make it for dinner. Thanks for sharing.

Tippy2us replied to Soup-a-Woman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow, so inspiring! I read your blog just now...excellent soup recipes! Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to make the spicy sausage and wild rice soup! You look fantastic too by the way! -
Fall is my favorite time of year! I live in the high desert in So. Calif and we get all seasons. Fall is the most temperate and the most beautiful. Here's a pumpkin Protein smoothie I just made and it was yummy! This makes 2 smoothies. 1/2 cup solid pack pumpkin 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk 1/2 banana 3/4 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 1 tsp. vanilla 1 scoop Body Fortress vanilla Protein powder 3/4 cup ice - give or take 121 calories and 13 g. protein I didn't add any sugar or artificial sweetener and it was fine. And it made two smoothies so I drank one and froze the other one for later. Enjoy!

Famly Dinner and my Sleeve
Tippy2us replied to x4achange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh you are in the middle of the toughest time. My doc had me on clear liquids for 2 weeks and full liquids for 2 more weeks, but let me have my Protein shakes after the first 4 days. I took campbells bean and bacon soup and watered it down and put it in the blender and blended it until smooth, heated it and had it with a little cheese. I would call the doc to see if that would be okay. It was the most delicious thing I ever ate LOL I didn't have it until about 10 days after surgery, but then I lived on it. Good luck and know this...you lose a huge amount of weight during the liquid stage so try to focus on that and know that it will pass really quickly. Hang in there and congratulations on your decision to get sleeved! -
Welcome new sleevers! I still feel like a newbie but I was sleeved on June 27th. Time flies. You may experience some ups and downs but it gets better all the time. I already feel normal, except for my clothes falling off of me. Here's a great NSV to keep you motivated. Before surgery I wore size 20W pants. I went to Kohl's yesterday and for the heck of it I went to the regular Misses department, not the Women's department. I grabbed some size 16 with NO "W" in the size and they all fit! Talk about exciting! You have so many wonderful victories ahead of you! Congratulations!! Tippy

I'm so tired lately...why?
Tippy2us replied to Texasmom65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your labs will tell you a lot, but my insurance company assigned me an RN to call with questions and she checks in on me once a month, and I'm at about the same number of weeks out as you and have also been soooo fatigued in the last week or two. She told me to eat more complex carbs. I had been trying to eat 40 or less carbs per day and she said that's not enough. She said to add in oatmeal, Beans, vegetables and fruit without sugar added. COMPLEX is the key word here. So I added in the beans and oatmeal the last two days and already feel a lot better. I just hope I continue to lose weight. She swears I will. She might be right because now I feel like exercising.... If you are still menstruating you might need Iron too but labs will tell. And go to bed earlier. Since surgery I go to bed an hour earlier than I used to. Feel better -
I'm making that tomorrow. Thank you!
