I was sleeved on June 28, 2011....I'm about 13 weeks so far and I CAN NOT eat salads yet. The first time I tried it, I got nauseated, the second time I almost threw up....My doctor warned me that lettuce is hard to digest and it would take awhile.

13 weeks post op - Down 47 pounds
mcalillian1976 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
13 weeks post op - Down 47 pounds, is this weight loss okay? I've seen others lose more. I know everyone is different but just wanted to compare. I've gone down from a size 18 to a 12. -
I was sleeved on Tuesday June 28, 2011. I was given Tylenol with Codiene only when I left the hospital. Since then, I have had frequent stomach pains which I think was acid reflux because I have a feeling of something coming up but I never throw up. I called my doctor this morning since I had an awful night and couldn't sleep with all the reflex going on. I didn't have it before the surgery and now It seems like every hour on the hour today, I have that feeling. I am still on clear liquids until tomorrow which I start on full liquids. My doc prescribed the Nexium this morning so I'm going to take it today, hopefully it goes away. Has anyone had these acid reflex problems and then started taking this med and went away?

Nexium???
mcalillian1976 replied to mcalillian1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried the Nexium yesterday (40mg) and basically opened the capsule put it in water and drank it.....all my troubles went away...Thank God for Nexium....OMG, the acid reflux was terrible and today nothing at all. I wonder why my doctor didn't prescribe this right out of the hospital. It would have made those 3 days better for me. Thanks for all the replies. -

Nexium???
mcalillian1976 replied to mcalillian1976's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks...I have reading a bunch of postings here and was rather concerned that I was prescribed an acid reflex pill cause the majority of the people were prescribed one fresh out of the hospital and I wasn't. Thanks for the response, I appreciate it, it did help. Thanks again. -

I was sleeved on Tues June 28 and I just got prescribed Nexium due to an awful night. I couldn't sleep because I had a feeling in my stomach that would come up but I never threw up...I called my doctor and he prescribed this. Hopefully, with this pill, it'll help me because last night was no picnic. I wonder why he didn't prescribe this medication when I left the hospital?

6 days post-op and feeling hungry
mcalillian1976 replied to becca2297's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved on Tuesday June 28, my stomach growls all the time. I congraduate you on the liquids, I haven't been able to sip more than 2 ounces per hour, I'm scared to swallow too much liquids and throw up. My doc put me on clear liquids for 5 days so I haven't reached the protein till tomorrow. -
Well I was "sleeved" on Tues, June 28, 2011. I am doing okay but the gas (due to the pumping of the stomach) was a bad combination with having your stomach removed. I am not as gassy today. I couldn't really drink anything Wed and Thursday although I did consume some liquids. Today, I am alot better and have had liquids more than yesterday. The only problem is that my stomach is always "growling" like I'm hungry but I'm not. My doctor's office said that not to get confused that I'm hungry but it's simply my new stomach trying to digest what I'm drinking. Sometimes, I won't have a drink at all for an hour and I feel like indigestion, somethings just come up, I don't throw up but I feel a sensation of something coming up. I haven't thrown up but these indigestion spells are terrible. I didn't have indigestion before so I don't know what this is. Sleeping is hard but I've managed to get some on the recliner.

Hunger Pains?
mcalillian1976 replied to FindingReneeAgain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have read that people even name their tummies...My cousin who had the sleeve is 10 months into the sleeve and she says that her stomach still growles, not as much as in the beginning but it still growles and she burps alot. -

For liquids, I have frozen different flavors of sugar free Wylers drinks, grape, cherry, lemonade etc..put in in an ice tray and eat them frozen. I have managed to stay hydrated this way. It's like eating a slushie and it tastes great. My cousin had the sleeve last August and she's lost 120 pounds so she tells me the different ideas she came up with. It helps to know others who have done this and can give advice and different ideas on how to be creative with these strict diet's the first couple of weeks. She said that everything will get better and the results are great. In the end, it'll be worth it. Your body will adjust, it's just going through a bunch of changes right now. Once it adjusts, it'll get better. -

Hunger Pains?
mcalillian1976 replied to FindingReneeAgain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm just 3 days post op and I have the same problem, my cousin who is an RN says that our stomach is trying to digest the liquids or foods. It's strange because last night I hadn't drank anything in like 3 hours and my stomach just starts growling. She said it was normal though. -
Surgery Yesterday
mcalillian1976 replied to DivaDee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Tuesday June 28 and Wed, Thursday were the worst days ever. Today is alot better. I was thinking the same thing, what the hell did I do? But, the gas, soreness is going away day by day. Now, just getting my stomach to heal, I think I will do good. My cousin had it last August and has lost 120 pounds. She said the first week for her was terrible so I kinda mentally prepared myself that the first week was going to be hell. Don't get discouraged, we all need to pass through the first week of gas, soreness and pain and it'll get better. -
Pain where the stomach was pulled out
mcalillian1976 replied to Band Be Gone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on the same date as yourself and while I haven't had any major pain from my incisions, I do have an occasional throb sensation and only on the biggest incision. I only take my pain meds at night and that's to sleep better. During the day, I am fine.
