I’m scheduled for my surgery November 7th, and it’s starting to feel real. I’m having a lap band to bypass revision and only taking one week off from work (nine days counting the weekend). A little worried about just a week. Anyone else in November?

Found it and sent a request!

I'm searching, Bypass'ing in November 2018 doesn't come up in my search.

Revision Band to RNY Bypass
Serifa replied to Mizzhappygolucky's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I’m having my revision surgery on 11/07 and glad to read Matt’s post. My lap band recovery was easy so I’ll take that, and I’m only scheduled for a one-night stay. Would love to stay in touch and hear how you progress. And congrats on the weight loss! I just downloaded the IPad app and do not have a quote button (and can’t rotate my page view, argh). Will need to troubleshoot. -
The pre-op isn’t bad. My nutritionist and surgeon have me on a low carb/low fat diet for 30 days, then three days before switch to liquid, then surgery day Clear Liquids. I do low carb often, just seem to keep sliding back to adding carbs eventually. I just downloaded this book for my IPad: The Emotional First + Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery. In finding this book this morning, I’ve discovered so many others and bariatric cookbooks out there. I’m already ‘obsessed’ with my surgery day so I might as well jump in and read as much as I can about it. I also do not want to tell friends or coworkers that I’m having surgery so I need to lose weight right now to cover my deception. I’m going to try to find a book about dealing with that now! Any good bariatric book recommendations?

Does anyone know how to change the sidebar profile? I can’t find where I can change my weight/surgery, etc. I want to switch it from lap band to revision stats.

I just moved from a warmer to colder climate and realize I don’t have the proper winter clothes. My surgery is 11/07 so I don’t want to go crazy with shopping, but I need to dress myself until then. I’ve only been on the low carb/low fat diet for one week and have lost six pounds and am beginning to feeling better. I’ve lost and gained up to 40 pounds many times so I’m definitely familiar with the process but this feels different. It feels more permanent. I went into Dress Barn where it separates the plus from the ‘normal’ size. I stayed on my side and after checkout exited on the ‘normal’ side. I was excited thinking that someday soon I will be able to buy something over here. Haven’t been part of that club in 20 years. I know plenty of people gain weight even with surgery and I could be one of those, but I feel pretty confident that I will get results I’ve never have been able to achieve before. I have my pre-op appointment on Monday with my surgeon. Never been so excited about a doctor’s appointment! It’s happening.

Yay! I can't wait. I keep looking at the calendar to see how close it's getting. Just want to start losing for real.

So sorry about your father in law. November 9th is around the corner. I’ll be coming home as you go in and I can give you the download. I’m trying out different vitamins to try out. I bought the berimelts but think they might be too sweet. I want to do the patches but my nutritionist advised against it.

November 5, you’ll go in two days before me. I started my low carb low fat this weekend. You’ve been on yours for three weeks, that’s great. Your body will be ready for it. I go to liquids on November 1 then surgery on the 7th. I can’t wait. I really want to make this work. I can’t figure out how to change my surgery/height/weight. It’s from when I had my lap band in 2011, it’s very old! Good luck to you and glad to have people going through this together!

That’s great. I tried for that date but couldn’t get it. 30 days until surgery so getting excited! Starting low carb low fat tomorrow. Just want it to be here.

I’ll keep the option open to half days on Wed/Thu/Fri. I have a desk job so hopefully it will be o.k. Mombod: Starting to prepare for the pre-op diet. I’ll do low carb/low fat for two weeks then three days before switch to clear liquids. Had my blood and stress test yesterday. I just want Nov 7th to be here! I’m only telling a few family members and am trying to figure out how to navigate the secrecy. Kind of strange.

Just checking to see if anyone has experienced this. I'm almost two months post op, I've been healing really good. I am cleared to start working out again and went to the gym this past Saturday and Sunday. I only did the treadmill for 25-30 minutes. It felt great to work out and I didn't push it. I felt fine on Monday but Tuesday I started have horrible pains around all of my incision sites and especially my port site. It's gotten a little better each day but wow, how long does it take to heal? I know everyone is different but I'm a little nervous that this is how I will feel forever. It's not a lot of pain but constant when I move around. I'm going to rest this weekend and try walking very slowly again on Monday. Did anyone else have random pains two months post op? Also, no fills, pbs or stuck episodes ... Thanks! Serifa

Where does the food actually get stuck?
Serifa replied to plumpdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm four weeks post op and have that problem anytime I swallow food. I went in and had a xray and my band is fine (they said I would know if it was stuck). They also said my throat was probably still irritated and swollen from surgery or perhaps my thyroid gland is swollen. I'm just taking very very small bites, it seems to be getting a little better each day. Also I developed thrush on my tongue a few days post op but it cleared up. There could be some of that left inside the throat. There are so many new things going on, it's really hard to figure out what is normal. I'm also drinking warm Water throughout the day to sooth my throat. Good luck and let me know how it goes. -
Almost one month post-op and am starting regular foods. Everytime I eat anything with the slightest of texture, I can feel it go down very slowly in my throat. It's not pain but very annoying. I am taking very small bites, eating slowly and chewing well. Is this a sensation I will get use to or a sign that my band might be too tight? I haven't ever felt like throwing up and always abide by the 3/4 – 1 cup rule. Any advice? Thanks, Serifa

Not sure if this is what is wrong with you but, that is where I hurt when I had a gallbladder attack. It's very very painful, and I was glad to get rid of it! Good luck.
-
I'm six days post-op, everything going fine. Tonight my tongue turned white, it's so gross and feels like little particles are coming off of it. Please someone tell me this is normal, what should I do?
-
Thanks, yes it did. I just brushed my teeth a lot and rinsed with salt Water. That was a very strange experience!

July 2011 Bandsters!
Serifa replied to lifeisjustbeginning2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shauna, it's so good to hear from you. I think you are doing great, just keep in mind that the first few postsurgery months are for healing and this is not where we are expected to lose so much. Also, they say it's safer on our bodies to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. You have gone through so much with the surgery and job loss but are still managing to maintain and even lose a little. Every pound counts! Hang in there, you're doing great! Serifa -
Thanks for sharing. I am 11 days post-op, still on full liquid. I am very anxious to see how all of this will work. There is such an unknown right now, your post was very helpful. –Serifa

July 2011 Bandsters!
Serifa replied to lifeisjustbeginning2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amy, that sounds scary. Glad you were better after a few minutes. I am nervous about that. I've realized that I used to gulp water all day. I don't really drink anything but water and usually a lot of it. I'm mourning that capability. I've been very slowly sipping water and it takes about an hour to get 8 oz down. Is this normal or am I being overly cautious? I don't really get any physical signals to drink slower or faster, but I'm afraid I'll stretch my pouch. I'm 9 days post-op, feeling good, some moments of pain, little gas still. But sometimes I have brief thoughts, will I ever feel normal towards something simple as drinking water again, and what have I done to myself. Upside, I've lost 15 lbs. so I have to keep focussed on what great things these changes (good and bad) will bring. Sorry, little bit of a rant ... Also, Shauna how are you, hope you are doing well! —Serifa -

So sorry to hear about your port site! Hang in there, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. I had a problem last year with a surgery spot and it turned out I was allergic to the tape I was using. It was scary but started to heal up after a few days with antibiotics. Hope everything gets better, keep us posted! -
