    BIG secret... good or bad?

Hi!! I had to check for a second and make sure I didn't write this post!!!! You sound just like me!! I had surgery on Aug 10th and it's my 1st day of feeling better. I think any decision regarding your Heath IS very personal and it's your prerogative as to wether you want to share it or not. I have someone I know who said the same thing as us and now she could be the poster child for gastric bypass. So yes... For now I AM keeping it a secret!!! Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery. Keep me posted!!! Hugs!!!
  3. Hi!!! I have to say...WOW!!! I can't believe u were able to make this post on the SAME day of surgery. I think just the fact that u did THAT is amazing!!!! Today is my 1st day not feeling sub- human. My surgery was Wed Aug 10th. And it's my 1st day that I just felt ok. But I will take it!!!! Anyway I wanted to tell you that I was starving when I woke up from surgery!!! I have felt hunger since then but I'm allowed blended Soups so that satisfies me. My doc said it was just acid in my stomach. Not sure but it did freak me out also and it did go away. Don't worry!!! U are doing amazing!! Today is the first day I could even go on the computer. Just get plenty of rest and you should be fine!!! Best of luck to you!!! name='prairiedawn' timestamp='1306967712' post='158523'] my surgery was 11am this morning & I left recovery @ 2:30. Doc said I did really well very routine... Have to admit I am concerned because i'm starving!.... This is upsetting me.....i haven't eaten since 8pm ystdy but I was hoping the hunger pain would not be present..... did anyone Pelse have this post-op? my pain is ok (4 on the scale) but I got my period this morning so I have cramps to go along with my hurt belly but all is good. I am so excited for what is to come!!!! I truly am. I have no nauseous but I do feel gas coming on.... We will see. My throat was very sore when I first got to my room & my voice is very hoarse....I am super tired so I guess I should be resting while I can..... will post again later! hopefully I will wake up not hungry....is it normal & it is bothering me so much PrairieDawn
  4. Hi Guys...I'm getting sleeved in 2 days (Wed. Aug10th) I has been a bumpy road but I'm finally here!!! I need to lose approx 80-85 lbs. I went to GNC & Walmart today to get a Whey protein drink and I ended up walking out bc I felt sooo over-whelmed with all of the choices. I want to have everything I need for right after surgery, in case I wasn't feeling up to going out. Is there any suggestions on guidelines or brands? Should they be fortiefied with vitamins? Are there any kinds w/o taste?flavor that I can just add to water/ The people at GNC and Walmart were not knowledgable on this subject. I hear some people say certain brands gagged them....HELP please!!!!!
  5. Thank you everyone! You guys are a big help!!! (as usual!!)
  6. Hi Guys, I'm fairly new to this site but I really find it to be a Godsend!! My surgery is SUPPOSED to take place this Wed. August 10th. I'm on my liquid diet and I have to say it's so much harder then I thought. Anyway, when I was having my PAT done a week and a half ago at the very end of my visit the Dr. said..."Oh btw your hemoglobin/iron levels are very low. Sorry, but we will have to post-pone surgery" Just like that!!! Like he was saying ..."Oh, nice weather were having" I was in complete shock bc everything else was great! I asked him what I should do and he just said your primary will need to figure it out. WTH!!!! (He is just the PAT Dr not my surgeon) I know it is only for my safety but he could have been a little more sympathetic!!!! Thankfully, my primary got me in ASAP for 5 iron infusions. Has anyone ever heard of these? I finished my last one on Monday and just had my blooded rechecked today. My hemoglobin was 10.7, The PAT Dr said I had to be 11 or over (it will keep rising each day for the next few weeks) I'm sooooo close and I'm waiting to hear back from his office. They are supposed to call me tomorrow and I'm just hoping and praying that all is OK for Wed. I'm so ready to move forward and everything is set...child care...etc. Has anyone heard of or had a similar experience? I'm soooo frustrated (and hungry and cranky!!!) They were supposed to let me know today...I just hope I get the call tomorrow so I know WTH is going on!!! I may be on this liquid diet for nothing at this point!!! (If that's the case I will have to hurt someone!!!) Any feedback or encouragement is appreciated!!! Thanks to you all!!! This website is such a comfort!
  7. Thanks!!! (& I AGREE!!! LOL!!!!) Wow...you are doing very well...you are about a week out...good for you!! I noticed we are pretty much the same weight & goal...Best of luck to you!!

    Mini goal!!!

What an awesome response!!! And true!!! How very nice of you to take the time to really encourage a fellow sleever! That is one of the reasons this website is so great! All the amazingly helpful people! Ms.DJ14 Ps my surgery date is Aug 10...everybody wish me luck (& prayers!!) name='pasquini' timestamp='1310838090' post='180326'] thx everyone, It is very sureal! Vickie: First let me say, congrats on your loss, keep perspective, when is the last time you lost 30lbs with no fear of regain? That is a huge accomplishment! so it is important that you do not get down about where you are. we are both on a journey to the good life. True i have lost a crazy amount, yet there are some variables. 1st i am a guy and do not have the hormone issues that women have to slow my loss down. that is such a huge factor, people dont factor that in offten enough and get discouraged when their loss isnt as fast as others. but you have to compare apples to apples and men and women are apples and oranges. similar to our trying to compare ourselves to naturaly skinny peoples ability to lose. Does that make sence? 2nd. I have a very very labor intensive job, I fabricate and install custom granite countertops So I am lifting and moving 100's of lbs everyday. So i have no doubt that is a factor for me since work is like a constant workout. Considering that it is not fair to yourself to compare your loss to mine. 3rd here is what i do, I eat between 400-700 cals a day. partly intentionally partly not. I do eat very clean, if i didnt the cals would be higher. I eat 1 greek yougurt and one cheese stick for Breakfast everyday that gives me 17 grams protien i dont worry about the carbs in them lunch: depends on where i am. general shrimp (about 3-4) for 20 gram protien of tuna salad for 20 grams protien no crakers no bread. dinner: some form of Protein that is not fried. chicken, fish, shrimp, or another yogurt or cottage cheese for 20 grm protein. I drink 40 oz low cal gatorade a day and then either tea or juice. i also drink coffee. yes i drink coffee everyday. My sister is a VA Psychologist that did the psych evals for bariatric patients and she has been a great resource. the nutritionist at her VA says that coffee doesn't really dehydrate you, the way you have to count it is dont count it. That so long as you do not include the coffee as liquid intake then it is a wash. I have 3-4 sf popcicles a day as well I also take a daily Vitamin, chewable (active kids complete from sams club. I take the adult dose) now if i want something i have it. if i want a dorrito i will have some, like 3 haha, I also go to the gym, about 3-4 days a week and play 45 min of raquetball i am just begining to do the treadmill and lifting as well. oh, and something that I think people forget is that you can go to all liquids for 3-5 days or a week and shock your system into obediance! rather than seeing that as a bad thing i see it as teaching my body to co-operate! Basically any loss is good, right? I think your loss is fantastic! 30lbs!! You are not going to regain it either! You will keep losing as you already are. Remember, keep perspective. You have chosen to better your life and it IS, IS, IS, working. You have made a hard, definative choice, a choice to lock yourslef in for the rest of your life to healthy choices that will reap amazing rewards for you and those in your life. Now is the time to Celebrate your courage, wisdom, and 30 freakin pounds that you kicked to the curb forever!!!!! So, Head up, inches down, and amazing adventure ahead!!! your are doing fabulous. Now go to your mirror and tell youself that!!! 10 times!!!
  10. Hi Guys!!! Let me just say that even though I have only been on this site a few times, it's nice to know i have somewhere to go and be completely understood! I have been lurking around here a few times (I'm not even sure if this is the correct place to post this comment) This is my 1st post (although, I did leave a comment for someone...I think) Anyway, I just got my surgery date which is August 10th. Reading about all of the PAIN is freaking me out. I guess you never know to what extent it will be bc everyone is different. I feel REALLY over-whelmed and scared. I haven't had my PAT yet so I guess I will feel better after that. Even though I have been reading & reading , I still feel clueless. I'm so worried about 1-4 weeks after post-op. It would be nice if I could just fast forward till then. Any support/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...you guys are the BEST!!!!

    Oh My HAIR!!!

Hi there!! I was just reading your reply about thinning hair. I noticed you said it's possible that you can regain after a few years. This REALLY freaks me out bc right now I'm 2nd guessing myself on why I'm doing this! Do you know of anyone that this has happened to? I've heard people talk about when the "honeymoon phase" is over you have to be careful. Is that what your referring to? Let me know if you have a chance. It's scary to go thru all of this and think that you can regain it I'm having surgery on August 10th and I am self-doubting myself. (i know some of that is normal) Are you happy with your results? Thanks so much!!

    Oh My HAIR!!!

So Sorry to hear that!! My surgery date is August 10th and I'm also REALLY concerned about losing hair bc I have very fine hair as it is! I was just reading an article in a magazine today that said to use coconut milk (canned is OK) to rub it into your scalp and leave on for one full hour. It was written by an Indian woman and they have thick beautiful shiny hair... It's worth a try I guess. LOL!!! I'm going to give it a shot! Good luck to you, You're hair WILL grow back but I know that's not helping you now!![ I've also heard of women putting in clip on hair extensions and they just love them. Maybe you can just try a few thru-out your hair just to thicken it up for when you go out. I think the are called ..Love my Hair extensions. Hope tha helps!!! quote name=Smof4' timestamp='1310435798' post='177969] Hello everyone! i was sleeved Feb. 28th, and my hair loss is making me stress! i have so little hair now! the thickness of maybe 4 pencils put together....i used to have tons and would get it thinned out...omg! now i wish i had that hair! im now taking Biotin but don't know how long it takes to work...anyone else has this same problem? and do you take Biotin too?
