I was not cleared for abs for 6 weeks, but could begin cardio after 2!!!
-
Mine also includes my pre-op diet, but it was only 2 days! Great job so far!

I was banded 2 weeks after you and have lost 42 pounds. I also am like the poster above. I only count calories and try to get between 900-1100 a day. I do not let my carbs go over 75 grams though! Hope this helps!

I agree with you! I was worried was about not having fills because of what people say on here. I went to the surgeon yesterday and he also does not want to see me until October and I have no fills, but they did tell me if I felt I needed one, I could call and get an appt!

My doctor told me 4 weeks and it was printed on my release papers from the hospital...I waited 4 weeks!!

I am only 2 months out today and I do not have a fill. I have only been to the doctor's once since surgery and we decided on no fill. I was losing and not hungry. I go back on Monday and have a feeling it is going to be the same. I still have no hunger between meals and I am still losing. I cannot help you that much because I think we are in the same boat. Not sure what they are going to say on Monday, but I am curious if they do not do a fill when they will want to see me again! Keep up all the good work!

Sleep Apnea-- Can I still have the surgery?
shakey88 replied to faz1988's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have sleep apnea as well, but did not find out until they were doing the pre-surgery tests. The pulmanologist did not make me get a cpap machine because he felt that it would go away once I started to lose weight. However, it was written in his clearance letter that there was to be one at surgery (provided by the hospital). I never needed it and was allowed home that day. -
Do you use Wii to exercise?
shakey88 replied to lifeisjustbeginning2011's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I use the step, hula hoop and boxing before I go walking. I usually have my time say 31 minutes and then I go walking and come home and do some resistance training. I also have the Biggest Loser game for Wii. I have not used it yet since I have been banded. I was thinking when I can't walk outside I would do that because Sweating to the Oldies and the walking videos are starting to get old! I love the Wii! -
I have the Fit Bit and love it. I only have to charge it once a week and it is easily hidden. In fact, I do not know anyone who has even seen it! I like the little flower because it tells me how I am doing as well as the distance I walked. The website also tells me how active I have been which is great! I also log my food in there as well!

I noticed it more when I had just been banded (a little over 8 weeks ago). It also had a sweet smell like the protein shakes....ewwww. Now, I do not sweat as often and actually, I have had to thurn the thermostat up in my house because I was getting too cold! I guess that is what happens when you lose pounds! It will get better!

ready for my first fill
shakey88 replied to sandiburn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way as you did at that point in time, but since I have been on solids, I realized that I do not need the fill. I have been eating solids for 3 weeks now. I went to the doctor for my first fill appt and no fill because I was losing and was not hungry. I have my second fill appt next week and think I wont be getting it because I am still losing and not hungry. My point is...once you can eat solid foods, the hunger pains may go away for you. They did for me, but we are all different! -
Intimacy After Banding
shakey88 replied to beyond beautiful's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to wait 4 weeks after surgery and I did. It was better and my port was not affected. I just felt better about myself making intimacy better as well! =) -
I completely understand what you are saying. Last week, I lost 6.5 pounds. This week I gained 0.2 pounds. I do not understand it. I have increased my walking from 2.5 to 3 miles a day. I have been eating small meals, protein first 3-4 times a day. I am getting all of my fluids and taking my vitamins. I was so frustrated this morning when I stood on the scale (Sat is my weekly weigh-in) and it said I gained. It was the first week that I have not lost!
-
I was getting so angry with myself because I was not losing this week and then I realized that I was retaining water because of my time of the month. This was the first time since being banded. I feel better now knowing it is not just me!
-
I had to pay $160 but that was for all the nutrition, exercise and life skills classes that I had to attend!
-
I had no health issues at all before surgery, but I had to see a Cardiologist (EKG, echo and blood work), Pulmonologist (sleep study and breathing test), Psychologist, and Endocrinologist (blood work). My surgeon requires all that to be done before surgery!

That is awesome...my childhood friend's son was diagnosed with a rare type of leukemia in Dec. He was 16 months at the time. He went into remission in Jan (on my birthday), but the fear of it coming back was high on the doctors' minds. He had a bone marrow transplant in May courtesy of his 3 year old sister! He is doing well and his 100th day is coming up where he will finally be able to interact with groups of people! It's hard to conain a now 2 year old! I think this is amazing and thank you for what you are doing!

Exercise and drinkng water
shakey88 replied to JanPuppyLover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 7 weeks post-op and I do not have a problem taking large amounts of water in. It was only the first 3-4 weeks that I had to sip. I have been able to drink as much as I need to so I am hydrated. I hope this helps. I also should say that I do not have any fluid in my band either! -
Lap-Band Concerns (HELP!)
shakey88 replied to Bandgirl74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry to hear this, but hopefully they can get you situated back at the doctor's office and you can continue on your journey! -
Today seems like a great day for celebrations for our successes in becoming healthier!!!

Congrats! I know how you feel...I stood on it this morning and it said 249 and I started at 285 seven weeks ago! I was so excited that it was under 250!!! It is a great accomplishment when you see that. I only log my weight on Saturdays, so I hope it is still that tomorrow beings it likes to change a pound up and down day to day!!! Again congrats on your weight loss!!! Keep up the work! =)

What kind of birth control do you use?
shakey88 replied to aroundthetown's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am on the Dep shot. I was concerned about gaining weight from it, but my OB/GYN is monitoring my weight closely. I only got it like a month ago and am still losing weight steadily. I am not sure if I am going to get it again in Sept when I am scheduled because I believe it is giving me headaches. Something I rarely got before the shot! -
I take 2 Flintstone Completes, 1 Caltrate and 4 Vitamin D (kids) chewables throughout the day!

Appt tomorrow, possible fill?
shakey88 replied to nurse535's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 weeks post-op and I do not have a fill. I have lost 32.5 pounds so far (I only update my ticker on Sat) and am not planning on getting a fill until I find that I am hungry faster. Currently, I go about 4 hours until I am hungry and the PA agreed me when I went for an appt for a fill. She told me as long as I am not hungry and I am not eating large portions and still losing, I won't need a fill. I hope this helps beings we are around the same place! -
What was your post op experience?
shakey88 replied to BaileyRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had absolutely no problems. It was a great experience. In fact, I never took the pain medicine OR had any gas pains. I just walked as much as I could in case they thought they were going to appear! One little thing was my throat was a little sore from being intibated (or however you spell that), but that was about all! Good luck with everything!
