  1. I was one of the unfortunate ones that has a great deal of nausea/vomiting after being sleeved. I came home yesterday after battling nausea the entire first day post op. went to sleep right away. Woke up several hours later, "slimming" and feeling the urge to vomit so I walk it off as i was able yo get down a Phennagrin. I'm fine as long as I'm walking. When I crawled back into bed I couldn't control it any more and up came the meds and slim. Afterwards I was able to get down some Loratab and juice and passed out for about 6 hours only to be awaken by more slimming. I spit it out, no vomiting or the urge. I have had a few bouts of hiccups and boy do they hurt. This is all normal right? Just a part of the healing process...right?

  2. I have a three week diet, all liquids day before surgery 3/20 I drink two shakes, one packet of Quaker Oats Weight Control oatmeal, 6 oz of low fat yogurt, sugar free Jello, 2 cups veggies, 3 oz of chicken/turkey/fish. I started week three on Tuesday and have lost 18 lbs as of today. I have had more protein/carbs three days on the diet but have been working out EVERYDAY. I'm gonna try to stick strictly to the plan here on out b/c I do not want to prolong my surgery or have any avoidable complications. I just hope those 18 lbs make a difference in my liver. Maybe this diet will offer you a little more during the day to make it easier for you to stick to.

  3. I am scheduled for surgery March 20 (next Tuesday) and feeling a little anxious about the procedure. Would you guys give me a description of what you experienced on your surgery day? From arriving to the hospital to departing for home...I think knowing a little more would calm the nerves down. Thanks you guys

  4. I FINALLY got the call from my surgeons office today that I was approved!!!! They do believe in hitting it close. My surgery is March 20. I was gonna fall to pieces if I had to reschedule. It took them exactly 26 days from submittal to approval.

  5. The insurance coordinator from my surgeon's office has called three times. They do not appear to care LOL. I guess b/c my plan doesn't require it they leave it in the bottom of the barrel until it gets freakishly close to the 30 days. I want to call everyday like someone suggested but I don't want to make'em mad :0)

  6. My surgeon submitted my paperwork on Feb 15th. I called last week to check the status and was told that it should only take 15 days from the date of submmital. She told me they should have an answer by March 7 and to call back then. So I called today only to be advised that they haven't even looked at my claim and it was still pending. To add insult to injury he stated that since my policy doesn't require a pre-Auth (they do it as a courtesy) my paperwork isn't scheduled to be reviewed until March 14 and the soonest I could expect to hear something is March 19....my surgery is set for March 20. They are adamant about not getting to it a moment sooner. It's so frustrating. I don't know how others get a fast approval with Cigna. I started my three week liver shrinking diet last week, got my medical leave from work approved, made arrangements for someone to take off work to be with me...amongst other things. I can't stand the thought of having to reschedule my surgery. Does anyone know what I can do to get Cigna to speed up the process?

  7. I have Cigna and had to jump through their hurdles including the 6 month diet. They denied me for the band but it was due to the ins coordinator screwing up my paperwork. My new ins coordinator submitted my info Feb 15. I called a few days later to make sure and was given the 30 business day timeframe. Well, when I called on Wed the nurse said that she was still going through my 75 pages of info but that I should know something by March 7. I'm hoping that it was already approved and she couldn't really say so over the phone and will be dropping a letter in the mail that I should get by March 7...there's a chance that could happen...right? Keep us posted :0)

  8. So, I broke down and called Cigna today (hard to suppress feelings of being anxious) spoke with A rep that advised that the nurse is still going through the 75 pages of info that was faxed in for my approval and she stated since my surgeon called them on Feb 15 that I should know something by March 7; 15 business days instead of the 30 I'm usually quoted. Is this a good sign?
