I don't really have a lap band story yet. My insurance not only specifically prohibits WLS surgery, any post surgery complication of self paid WLS are not covered. I am thinking long and hard about whether to self pay. The least expensive surgery I have seen is twice the cost of a new car and my car has 150,000 miles on it, so that will also be an issue fairly soon.
I support a mother with dementia and a sister with Asperger's so if I go down for any length of time, it has serious repercussions, not only for myself, but for them. On the other hand, I really want this. I am tired of being fat and being tired because I am fat.
