ALSO... There was pain, especially at the incision area, and more so at the port area. Part of the pain is the GAS that is trapped all in your abdomin and seems to be pushing against the port, etc. Walking will really help this pain. Also ask for your pain meds, too. Good luck!

:thumbs_up: Hello everyone! Lap Band surgery was on June 23, 2011. Still recovering and on clear liquids. Start the thicker liquids on Thursday. Post Op appt is on July 11th. Can't wait to see how I am doing as far as weight. Hope to be an active member of this board. Just found it tonight. We have a great support group that meets once a month, but sometime you just need to talk to someone who KNOWS what you are going through. Looking forward to meeting everyone. HUGS.... :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: The KEY to getting the gas outta your body is to WALK WALK WALK. Thought for sure the nurses were just kidding about that, but it realllllly works. I got up and walked every 2 hours. Even walked at 4 am after they finished prodding and poking me! The first time you get up you think you are gonna fall apart, but you won't. WALK WALK WALK!!!

OK... talked to the doctor's staff. They said that black watery stool is normal for now. " It's going in liquid, it's coming out liquid. The black stool is fine. You're still getting rid of the anesthesia and other drug by-products you had in the hospital.

I think I better go invest in a nice little BULLET. Still on clear liquids...get to go on creamy liquids on Thursday. Wooo Hooo!!!

Congrats!!!!! That is my first goal. Started out at 343 the day I was medically retired. PreOp diet weight was 320. Last PreOp weight was 315. Banded on June 23rd. Next Dr. appt is July 11th. Can't wait to see what the scale says.

THANK YOU for the reply. I have been searching this board for anyone else who has had black diarhea and don't see anything. So... tomorrow I will call and check with the office staff. They have one nurse dedicated to the Lap BAnd people. I'm sure she will know if I need to come it or whatever. By the way, the swelling in the back of my neck didn't start until today. Kinda weird. I'll let y'all know what the dr. says.

Just logged on today. When I saw Wheelchairs' post, it almost made me log off the board. But I stayed on line and am so glad I saw everyone's comments. I am a newbie, too. This info helped me a lot.
