Not agreeing with the surgeon.

My bottom line is always My Body, My Choice. Doctors suggest things all of the time and as a healthcare worker I can say there are a lot of alterior motives that come into play. Do your research and select the procedure that is right for you. This is a decision that you will live with for the rest of your life. -
Never ending Pre-op Evals finally ending!

Congrats! I hear you, Im at the homestretch too. Just one more NUT visit next week. -
It is worrisome being this close and having your file in the hands of someone who doesn't know what you've been through making the decision. I forgot, i had to go the psych eval too.

I've got Aetna (ppo) as well. Im hoping that a letter of neccesity isn't required. I did the 3 month NUT appointments, the tests and I have sleep apnea. All they asked for so far was proof that I have been overweight for at least 3 years. I hope thats enough.

Im not a woman but wouldn't walking around with 10lbs of extra weight up there be kind of hard and cumbersome?

Im not sure how long you've known her, but if you feel comfortable I think honesty is the route here. Let her know you are going to have WLS and lose a lot of weight, tell her the portions you will be able to have, tell her what activities you are gonna engage in and let her decide if she wants to come along for the ride. Good Luck

Hello guys Please do not take this question as me being mean, but I have to ask. When i visit my doctor or go to my support meetings, I see a lot of people who have had the sleeve that are excited about their progress and that is great, but a lot of them are what would still be considered chunky by society. I realize that a lot of these people needed to lose 100 sometimes 200 pounds but are they finished? I know they have improved and don't need meds or bipaps to sleep and that is great. They have extended their lives by a great deal, but strictly aesthically speaking is this as good as some people get? Left with a belly or pounch but healthy? I guess im just wondering what to expect for myself though I know everyone is different my vanity keeps me picturing myself as 180lb head turner getting tons of attention from the ladies. I see some people on here who look like totaly different people (Lilmissdiva and Tiffykins come to mind) and I wonder why some people have those kind of results that transform their looks and other people just lose enough to extend their lives?

Hi Guys A friend of mine from my WLS support group and myself got to talking about his sleeve. He made an interesting comment to me. Now this guy looks great, he lost 112 lbs and you could never tell by looking that he was ever a big guy. But he told me that he still feels like the fattest guy in the room. He said he doesnt talk to women and when they talk to him he feels like they are just making fun of him. He still wears his old huge shirts and says that he has all his "fat" clothes still in his closet. Is this a typical problem for WLS patients or does he need some counseling? I would be jumping for joy and running around in Milli Vanilli shorts if I were thin. (just dated myself) Please chime in
