hurts to take a deep breathe?
SeattleSue replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could be healing nerves...up to 6 weeks. If it concerns you though, call your surgeons office. It was at about 4 weeks that I started having the re-ocurring pain up to my left shoulder. It's now resolved, but it came and went (positionally triggered I felt) but definately felt it in my left side...just to the left of my drain site, all the way to my shoulder. It felt remarkable like the "gas pain" people experience after surgery in their shoulder. It seemed random..appearing just at about the same time frame you mentioned and after researching the boards and other sites, I felt it was likely just that...healing nerves. -
Brand, Spankin, New here!

At 8 weeks post-op, my energy has skyrocketed and my only regret is not doing this sooner. I'm 43 with 2 teenage sons. I don't ache when I get out of bed in the morning, I sleep like I did pre-child days, I have a sense of purpose in my step. I think you need to remember that a 'bypass" is FAR more complicated; both surgerywise AND side affects. With a sleeve, I can eat whatever I want (choice wise) with virtually no side-effects. I take Vitamin supplements...but that's it. In another month or so, I hope to basically "forget" that I have had "surgery" and just eat like a thin person. As for the grouchies...it's true that hormones can park and hide in fat cells and you are now messing with their little habitats! :-) Good luck to you.

Met surgeon, not sure of his practice, need your thoughts
SeattleSue replied to InterplanetJanet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Forget the "I feel bad..." Nope. You are shopping for a life altering procedure. You need to feel good and confident with your choice, because even after you've met it, made it, slept in it, etc., you will be as married to it as you are to your hubby! Just sayin' The sleeve is PERMANENT. Not like "permanent" as it refers to a level 3 hair color...but permanent as in, forever! -
Finally told my BFF!!!
SeattleSue replied to favoredone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nice! hahaha You ARE something else...I've heard similar. My mom keeps making these sort of comments...it's my que to make a "run for the border" comment, referring to the fact that I went to Tijuana for surgery...it never fails to make us laugh til we cry. I'm wearing it as a badge of honor!! All the best to you! Susan -
Yes indeed, QUITE a difference!! Good for you!

I need your help.

Let's look at a different number... For the total you want to lose, you have knocked out 1/3 of the total!! Holy moly! 1/3!!! -
Poll: Do you eat your exercise calories?
SeattleSue replied to SeattleSue's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thanks for the replies! I don't eat my exercise cals, although I am hungrier now that I've added strength training. IN light of the fact that I am "toning" and not "building" I'm not interested in truly adding more calores. That said, "everyone" who "doesn't know" about my sleeve has a comment to make about my workouts. Seems like everyone is an expert. So, I'm staying the course and will learn how to manage my increased hunger; perhaps with more nutritionally dense foods. -

Still working out the bugs in my "routine" but at 8 weeks, it looks like this: 4-5 times per week 30-45 mins of aerobics 3 day's of weights (lower weight, higher # reps) So far so good...but again, I'm 8 weeks out so we're in the 'easy money' time anyway I guess...not that it's "easy" but you understand...

I am SO thankful for this site...and my sleeve! Seriously can't imagine what it would be like to be sleeved but without this awesome place. It's a GREAT combination like Protein AND water! I am 1 day shy of my 8 week surgiversary...and I'm feeling completely gob-smacked at the number I suspect/hope to log tomorrow for a weigh-in. It's a number I wouldn't have even DARED to "hope for" in 8 short weeks--or just 56 days. The anticipation is delicious!!! Thank you all for being a part of my journey. In the immortal words of Rachel Scott, you have started a chain reaction! -
Antibiotics HELP!
SeattleSue replied to HDubSleevery's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think you will have a problem with antibiotics unless you can't swallow pills, and then you could have a liquid. -
Not too weird at all. I'm glad things were resolved with nothing major... Good for you writing a letter...sometimes people make a difference and never know it. And for what it's worth, your inside beauty DOES shine here too!

Slow down... Not only are you newly sleeved, but you have a baby? Good grief, I'm sweating just thinking about the state of your bod and hormones. Hope you are carrying a waterbottle and lots of crystal light packets or, better yet, something with electrolytes? Smart Water, gatorade? -
