  1. I researched for two years, because I was waiting for my insurance to cover the sleeve.

    Lose weight before surgery?

I started at 410 lbs and I needed to get down to lower bmi for surgery. The higher the bmi the more dangerous the surgery is how it was explained to me.

    Lose weight before surgery?

I had to lose 25 lbs before my surgery was even scheduled. I'm now on a pre-op diet to shrink my liver even more.

    Counseling/Therapy

I would follow your therapist's advice and wait. I'm in therapy for my food addiction and I'm greatful for the time I've had to work on my relationship with food. The sleeve will still be there in six months and the additional work will only help you on your journey. Good luck!
  16. I can see the difference in your abdomen area and it's a big difference. Keep up the good work!

    fear and the food addiction

I haven't had surgery yet, but I'm in therapy working on my food addiction. My therapist recommended the book "The Emotional Eater's Repair Manual" by Julie A. Simon. This book has a lot of good information in it and I now have a better understanding of why I overeat. I hope this helps.

APRIL 2013. Whooo's Comin' With Me!

Hello Ro2x, Yes, it will be good to have someone to share this day with. I look forward to sharing our experiences on this journey. Good luck to you!
  20. I don't want to be able to eat a whole Big Mac after surgery. I hope my restriction is better. My highgest weight was 410lbs and I feel this surgery is necessary to save my life. I know there may be moments when I'll eat a hamburger but I hope it is only a bite or two. Otherwise, this surgery is kind of pointless for me. It just scares me to think I'd be able to eat that much. I don't know?

    Chicken soup!

    Thanks for the tip!
