Pre Op Diet- No diet at all?

Wow!!! I'm a 40 BMI'er and my doc is requiring 2 weeks of a pre-op diet. It's pretty much Medi-fast, but I can have sugar-free Jello, popsicles and Diet Soda. I'm on day 2 and I'm already thinking about what I would have been eating this weekend if not for this silly diet!!! (Hence why I need this darn surgery!) Good luck to all!
  4. I start my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow. My doctor is having me do Medifast during this time, but I can supplement with sugarfree Jello & popsickles and all the Crystal Light, Diet Soda and Water I want. Good luck to all!
  5. Finished all classes and tests yesterday. Next task to complete...SURGERY!! October 6th is my lucky day! :)

  6. I want to have my family picture taken. I want to cross my legs again. I want to wear cute shoes. I want to play sports again. I want to run a 5k...then a half marathon and then a full marathon! I want to have energy.
  7. I've had the same thing happen. When asked when I was due, I said, "9 years ago" and laughed, while inside I was cringing and beating myself up. But neither of us will have to worry about that too much longer!!!

    Hello All!

Good luck Shelli!! I'm hoping to be about a week behind you!!!
  9. I agree! My grandfather took a shot to the abdomen in WWII. They removed 60% of his stomach due to the injury, but he lived. He was the only skinny person in our family and he lived to be nearly 90! I remember my grandmother saying to him, "Robert, don't forget to eat!" Sounds like an early VSG to me!

    Hello All!

Just got financing approval and have my first consultation set for August 26th with Dr. Trace Curry and JourneyLite of Cincinnati! Holy cow....this might actually happen!!!
  11. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow! Sending THIN thoughts your way!
  12. I haven't either. I'm still doing lots of research. I'm leaning toward Dr. Curry and JourneyLite out of Cincinnati at this point. I'm a self-payer, so I need something I can afford, yet someone I'm comfortable with. Plus, I'd like someone in the midwest that I could follow up with if need be.

    Hello All!

I'm in the Columbus area, but I'm not thrilled with my options locally. I've been researching Dr. Curry and JourneyLite. So happy others on here have used him successfully!

    Back at home

    So glad it went well!
  15. Now that I'm a confirmed self-pay, I have a HUGE decision to make as to what doctor I go with. I continue to read the boards, blogs, and forums as well as googling every doctor I hear of. Hopefully I will find my right fit soon and proceed on to the next step.
  16. Decisions, decisions....what doctor to use?????

    Told my Mom

I haven't told anyone outside of my husband and my kids. My in-laws were visiting this weekend and I was SURE my youngest was going to spill the Beans at one point, but she held herself in check! Knew I was raising that girl right!!!

    Hello All!

    Good luck this week!!!!
  19. Great information & advice! I'm just starting my journey down this path and this will be a valuable tool for me to come back and read over and over!
  20. Good luck on your surgery and thanks for sharing what you are learning! I'm just beginning my journey and all the information I can gather helps!
  21. Last night I went to the orientation with the surgeon I chose. Afterwards I felt good about him, what he had to say and my decision to be sleeved. Today, I found out my insurance does not cover bariatric surgery. So, I guess I go to Plan B....self pay. Now on to research that.
  22. Just found out my insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery. On to Plan B!

  23. Congratulations and good luck!!!
  24. I recently made the decision that I wanted to be sleeved after months of research. The only person I've talked to about this decision is my husband. While I was scared (embarrassed) to tell him, he has been 100% supportive of the decision. I will be going on July 5th to the seminar by the doctor I've chosen. I don't plan to tell anyone what I'm doing. I too have bragged about diets only to have them blow up in my face. I don't need anyone judging me, I have enough of that in other areas. Everyone's words on here have just bolstered that decision to keep this private. While I don't comment much, I do read so many of these forums and all your words have been a tremendous help and source of hope for me.
