Losing too much too fast
La Dolce Vita replied to LVikingFan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery the same day and I am down 20 lbs. I lost 13 during the pre op liquid diet. Today was my first dayof pureed foods. I have had half of a scambled egg and a few bites of refried vegetarian beans and I am completely satisfied. I think we are where we are supposed to be. -
I had surgery on July 22nd. I did a 5 day liquid diet pre op which was not as bad as it sounds. it definitelty prepares you for post op. Pain was not as bad as I thought it would be. it is tolerable. when it is not I take the liquid loratab which works wonders. I had nausea once in the hospital but the nurse said he could have caused it by giving me my meds and antibiotics to quickly. i walked alot in the hospital and did the breathing exercises as well which i think helped with not having gas pains, I did burp and fart but it has not been painful. my second day home was the hardest, I felt like i was hit by a bus, my whole body hurt. i took the liquid loritab and rested, now i am on day 6 post op and i am only taking 15 ml of loratab maybe 3x a day, in the hospital i was getting dilaudid every 2 hours then swtiched to loratab every 4 hours. walking is very important. i get up in the morning and make my daughter breakfast. i have been relaxing all day and taking time to heal. I do not have buyers remorse. i have no hunger pains or cravings. i drink my 3 protein shakes and have jello in between and maybe some broth and i also am getting in water in between, every day gets better. the end result is going to be amazing. do not be afraid of the pain and let that stop you. if you take something that does not work tell the drs and they will find something that works for you. good luck

Worried about my drain...
La Dolce Vita replied to Marleykay87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my drain removed the next day and it was very painful When he pulled the tube out my stomach cramped up and it felt like a contraction. It brought me to tears and it was very painful I did a few minutes are breathing in and out before the cramp went away -
Had surgery yesterday, every time I take a sip of water now..

Congratulations I was also sleeved on July 22. I was able to drink 3 oz broth that was a little colder than room temp and a little orange sorbet I've also eaten ice chips very slowly it took me well over an hour to eat the broth. Good luck and Eat slowly I was eating only a teaspoon at a time even though the nurse said I could do an ounce every ten minutes. Slow and steady wins the race -
Finally had my surgery with Dr. Kelly!

Wide awake in hospital room
La Dolce Vita replied to La Dolce Vita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah ive had nurses coming in and out every 2 hours ughhhh not to mention the nurse waking me up at 5 to take blood I was delirious by then haha the doctor just rook my drain out and that was by far the most painful thing I've experienced at the hospital so far it's like my side muscles clenched up in a cramp almost like having a contraction it brought tears to my eyes. I'm pretty sure I'm staying til tomorrow. I will post again later I finally get to drink something yay -
Yes I am awake I'm my hospital bed. Not really tired but I should be lol so far everything has been ok. Still npo until tomorrow. Not hungry either but it appears my stomach Is waking up because I can feel it growling. I may be going home tomorrow I may not, I miss my daughter. Pain wise... None I'm getting dilaudid every 2 hours. Shoulder pain is about a 4 more irritating when I do my breathing exercises. My leg compressions I find relaxing lol I do wish I had my own pillow. excuse my punctuation and grammar and spelling, if anyone has any questions for me please ask The staff Here at Scripps green has been amazing with the exception of one cna which they Switched to another awesome one lol I didnt even Ask for a new one. Ok I am going to try again For some rest god bless you all

Thanks all. I would love to be able to sip right now lol but still npo til tomorrow. I just got up and did 2 laps of walking. I am missing my daughter though -
Update on surgery: I'm in my room with a beautiful ocean view I guess I got lucky surgery was at 11ish and so far not to bad. A lot of my pain is actually in my left shoulder feels like a pinched nerve/ knot. As for the stomach my discomfort is probably a 6. It's more discomfort than actual pain. It was the most painful to roll to each side So they could chane the sheets. I am still npo. The worst is I have such a dry mouth I can only rinse and spit. The nurses and staff at Scripps green hospital are all so amazing. Will post again later. Thanks again for all the support and encouragement
