i have a leak. im 8weeks post op & my leak was discovered at 5weeks. they placed a stent in me on jan 26th & it has truly truly truly truly TRULY been hell. i definitely regret surgery. i am down 50lbs & i rather had gained 50lbs than to have lost it. the stent has been making me seriously sick. i cant eat & i can barely drink. it had me fighting the urge to vomit 24/7 & i would vomit about 3-5x a day & i even wake up in the middle of the night to throw up in my mouth & hand! on friday, i couldnt take it no more & i demanded that they remove the stent. they refused & told me that if my leak hasnt healed, i can become seriously ill & could die. i said fine! they sent me for a xray which showed my stent had migrated. long story short, they were going to remove the stent but it was still covering the leak so they decided to just re-adjust it. since re-adjusting (friday), ive only vomitted 2x. im not fighting the 24/7 urge to vomit but i do feel pain. they are going to remove the stent on feb 20th so im counting down the days & im praying it comes fast. i want it out. by the way, my only symptom of my leak was me throwing up bile 2x.

oh ok! i wasnt sure if u were speaking of issues i had when i first started this thread or more recent problems. well, i decided to go back to liquids because food seems to get stuck & it made me sick! i guess 8 more days of liquids itll be.

im not sure of which of my many issues you are speaking of....

i never said he washed his hands of taking care of me. he has been behind the scenes making all the decisions with everything but i choose to go to his partner who is the nurse practioner. she goes thru him before making any final decisions.

i said THE SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they said the fluids are flowing thru and whatever im throwing up is aftermath and i may be absorbing some. which confuses me because i was drinking less than 20oz & throwing up a few times a day with diarrhea & vomitting. they drew blood 3x and he said in all 3 it shows no signs of dehydration. hows that possible? i have no idea. let me add that the dr i speak of here is the upper gi dr, not my surgeon. i go thru the gi dr because hes the one responsible for the stent and not my surgeon. before my gi makes any final decisions such as another upper gi, swallow test or removal or re-adjustment to my stent, he involves my surgeon & nurse practioner.

so earlier i ate a fruit cup... like 12hrs ago. i had a stomach ache all day today & after laying on my right side, i got so nauseous!!! i couldnt take it & i had to go vomit. i ended up throwing up the fruit from earlier which tells me that it was sittin in my tummy the entire time. not good!!!! im feelin pain from throwing up & wish i was sleeping.

a baby would be so much more fufilling than this. lol. i kept thinking to myself... "omg what if im this sick when im preggo & im going thru 9months like this... id be telling them to induce me by the 2nd month!" lmprao. i pray that i am one of those preggo women that have no symptoms whatsoever lol.

thanks.. im sorry i am too! trust me. lol. i wish i was 100% & was living life normal, smiling & all. instead, im depressed & down & regret it all.

i appreciate the suggestions and thoughts but i dont feel malpractice was done here. yes, i want to hurt my drs because they did this but i ASKED them to do this. im just the odd ball who had complications to follow.

i mean, seriously lol. if hes not gonna put gloves on & remove this ****.. i dont wannatalk or see one. lol. my drs refuse to remove thestent because ill get really sick with a leak. they wanted me to stay with it for another week to 10days. they went in to make sure things were ok & fix what they could to give mesome relief. thats not malpractice. as bedhead said, had i woke up with a different surgery than thatsa different story. i knew the complications involved with the VSG and i knew a stent would be the route they would go. GRANTED, they never described noneoftheabove as far as constant nausea & vomitting but from what the drs say, thats not normal & everyone isdifferent.

if the lawyer isnt removing this stent... theres no need for one. today does seem a little better but its not good. my stomach feels very unsettled & feels funny. i been napping to get away from the uncomfortable feeling.

so today isnt as bad as every other day. im not fighting the 24/7 urge to throw up. i was "feeling" hungry so i decided to eat a little bit of fruit from a fruit cup (mixed in natural juices, not syrup) & i couldnt finish it. it feel like the food is kinda stuck in my chest & its giving my stomach an unsettled feeling. my back also feels funny but i think thats because of gas maybe. i dont know. i wanted to lay down to attempt to relax & possibly take a nap but i think thatll be a bad idea with how im feeling. (sigh)

the vomitting is the worse part. i could so deal with everything but the constant nausea & the vomitting was too much for me. im able to drink more Water today than i have been so far. its going down nicely & not making me sick bur sheeesh!!!

its funny u should say that kathy because i have read horror stories & never thought they could or would happen to me but it has... and anyone who has the surgery runs the risk of going thru this or worse. i felt ok all night & didnt feel any nausea. i was sleeeping in intervals so i have yet to sleep straight thru since the stent. i woke up after seeming like i just dosed off & i began throwing up in my mouth & in my hand. i thought it was over & thought i no longer had to worry since the nausea had subsided after the procedure but i guess not.

i pray that i am!

UPDATE FOR TODAY! i went in to see the upper gi & requested he remove the stent. he refused. he ordered labs & an xray to see if the stent had moved. according to them, it did. they then decided to remove the stent! they had me register for an emergency upper endoscopy. then, they decided before doing an upper endoscopy, to do aquick swallow test to see if it showed a leak. turns out, the stent had moved but was still covering the leak! he decided to do an upper endoscopy anyway to take a look. he said that the bottom of my stomach kept rising up & covering the bottom of my stent which "may" be causing some vomiting. hes still not sure why im vomiting & saysi show no signs of dehydration which is beyond me because i barely drink & i dont eat & i just throw up all the time. i dont get it. anyway, long story short, stent has been "re-adjusted" & if i keep getting sick, they will admit me & the stent is to come out on feb 20th. im praying all goes well with this.

they found my leak at week 5. i didnt have one leaving the hospital.

first let me say that im sorry youre not feeeling well. i know this feeling all too well. you should be seen by a dr to find out why youre vomitting & maybe you need to be on nausea meds. have you had vomitting problems before? i dont mean to scare you but dont ignore signs your body sends you. throwing up bile 2x was my only indication that i had a leak.

im going to tell my nurse practioner that if they can stop the vomitting somehow, im willing to keep the stent in but if the vomitting cant be controlled, the stent must come out! i dont wanna feel like i wasted 2weeks for nothing. i pray that maybe my leak is already healed but something tells me that with the lack of nutrition & constant vomitting.... i doubt it.

yikes! i too am having complications but not the same as yours. ive never heard of a complication like yours. i have a leak. i cant keep anything down due to astent being placed in me in which is making me soooooo sick. im supposed to keep the stent i for a total of 4-6weeks. its been 2wks & 1day & i am requesting them to take it out!!! i cant deal with being so sick.. the constant vomitting, not eating, barely drinking, constant nausea & discomfort. its HELL!!!!!! seriously. i cant deal with it anymore. i feel as if i am dying slowly & they are trying to drag me to the 4week mark & i cant do it.

the stent today is actually causing pain!!!!

i emailed my nurse practioner & told her it needs to come out! lets see wat she says. she said we will talk today.
