I started my journey of weight loss surgery 3 years ago. I have 3 friends from work who had gastric bypass not the band. I have quietly watched to see if they were successful. I am a skeptic. All but 1 has been able to maintain their weight. 2 more friends have had bypass since then. I just don't want to do anything that drastic. I don't want my inside redone. I have heard and seen the side affects like hair falling out, not getting the nutrients needed. I have researched the band several times and really feel like this is the right method for me. I have struggled with my weight off and on since I was a child. I yo-yo between healthy and over weight. The last time I was thin was 17 years ago when I had to have radiation treatment for cancer. I can remember enjoying going in and stepping on the scales and being excited because they were going down. I could not taste anything due to the radiation to my head. The doctors didn't like the scale moving down. When I recovered and the tastebuds came back I overate like crazy and I don't seem to be able to get away from overeating. I went for my first consult 6/27/2011 and decided I need to do this so that I can improve and enjoy my life more. Last year I lost 30 pounds then regained it over the holidays. I had so much more energy and I miss that feeling. On July 14th I will start my journey to a thinner healthier new me. I look forward to do the things I love to do such as horseback riding and white water rafting with more energy and strength. I would be lying if I didn't admit I am also looking forward to clothes shopping too.
