My story is like everyone else who has lapband surgery except at this point I am unsure if I will be able to keep the weight off I was able to lose. I had my surgery back in Sept. of 2008 and did wonderfully afterward. I had not issues and lost well over a hundered pounds, a hundred and thirty to be exact by my second anniversary date of the surgery. Shortly before this date I had a tummytuck done to remove all of my excess skin and this is where my nightmare began. SOmehow the surgeon I used messed up and I developed a severe infection that took months to cure and in the process I developed a bowel opbstruction, almost died and had to have my lapband removed because of this. I saw my Doctor today, June 24, 2011 and was told that she doubted she would be willing to out my band back in due to the chance of infection and the liasions I had developed. She simply said it could be a very high risk surgery now and was not sure she would even be willing to do it. Now even I can understand this but all I heard was no band and my first thought was how am I going to keep the weight off. In the last 8 weeks I have put on 20 pounds and really have no idea how I manged it. I am starting from scratch except now the weight is off and I have to keep from putting anymore on. So that is my story and am open to all who may have suggestions to help me stay the new slender me. I actually would like to lose thw 18 pounds I have put on but we will have to see how it goes from here.
