Hi Diva! Who is doing your Lap-Band surgery? Are you having it done in Richmond? I will be banded on the 29th as well, and I am on the same diet. My surgeon is Dr. Matthew Brengman - Dominion Surgical Assoc. at St. Mary's Hospital. Good luck to you! Peg

Good luck on Thursday! I'll be thinking of you. Please let me know how you get along afterwards. My surgery date is the 29th. Take care! Peg

So sorry for your loss, Pam. Is that a grandchild that you're holding in your picture? So cute! I'll be on full liquids for 2 weeks, 2 weeks of mushies, and then on to solids. Doesn't that sound just yummy? I, too, am glad to be a part of this new union of the band and plication. Sounds exciting. I know a lady in my church who has Lap-Band, hers slipped and had to redo it. When the dr. did the surgery again, he also did the plication. I look forward to a brand new friendship! I'll definitely stay in touch. Peg

Hi, I guess I forgot the most important thing about the plication--helps the band from slipping! My nurse practitioner said that I would have to be on full liquids for 2 weeks with the plication added. Is that what you're having to do? I just wish next Thursday would hurry and get here! Glad to know you've had the same thing. Let's stay in touch. Wooo--shaved our legs! Whoooopee! Good for you! Did you have a hard time doing it? Once when I had surgery I had my husband shave my legs. It was the most pitiful job I've ever seen. He ws afraid of cutting me, so he barely touched the skin. It was really useless. Ha, ha!! Take care. Peg

Hi Kim, Where do you live? I'm in Virginia and will be having my surgery in Richmond. I'm so excited I can hardly think about what I'm supposed to do at work. This has been a long journey, but well worth everything to get to this point. Let's stay in touch! Peg

Is anyone besides me having Lap-Band with plication? My doctor just started doing it with the band. He says that it helps with the hunger issue and also probably helps you lose a little faster. Anyone? Peps

My pre-op testing included blood work, chest x-ray, and EKG. I also had to attend a 4 hr. meeting last week with a bariatric nurse and dietician concerning all aspects of the surgery itself and the diet progression. It was very informative. Good luck! Peg

Hi! I'm having surgery on the 29th also! I'm also planning to stay out of work until Tues. or Wed. of the next week (depends on how I feel). My life coach that I had to work with for a year said that she urges her patients to take a week off because it's a lot to get used to--diet, and feelings. I may end up doing that, too. Good luck next Thursday! Gosh, NEXT THURSDAY!!!! It's so close now. I'm very excited as I know you are. I'll be thinking about you then. Take care, and hope that all goes well for you. Peg

I'm definitely in favor of a September Post-Op Discussion Group. We're all going to need advice and support for each other. Who is going to get it started? Peg
-
Yep, day 5 of the pre-op diet. I've done really well and am not too hungry. Yesterday we had a dinner at church (fried chicken!), but I stuck to my Protein shake and a small apple. That was a bit frustrating. Do you get to eat any solid foods? For dinner I can have 4 oz. lean meat and unlimited veggies so long as they're not seasoned with butter or good ole grease! Ha, ha!! We're gonna make it!!!! Please keep me updated on your journey! Good luck to us all. Peps

Hello All, Had a 4-hr mtg. on Mon. with a bariatric nurse and dietician. On Tues. had to go back to hospital for meeting with nurse practitioner and have all lab work done. Started liver-shrinking diet yesterday. So far I haven't bitten anyone's head off. Ha, ha!! My surgery is on the 29th, and I am so ready for it. Sounds like most of you have had positive experiences as far as the surgery and afterwards. I'll be joining you soon! Take care, everyone. Peg

I don't blame you one bit. You're going to get up those steps with flying colors! I also know what you mean about coming down the steps. My husband calls me "Grace" because I seem to fall a lot. Just be very careful! And thanks for the tip on the hot tea with lemon and honey. Will do! Let me know how it goes tomorrow. Prayers are going up for you! Peg
-
Will keep you in my prayers! I know how it is...you don't want anything or anyone to get in your way of your surgery date! Mine is Sept. 29th, and I just caught a bad cold from the rest of my family. I'm going to have to watch it closely because it usually turns into bronchitis with me. Can't be sick on surgery day!!! I hope you get up those 2 lights of stairs tomorrow. I'd sit on my butt and go up if everything else failed. Ha, ha!! Take care!

Don't worry! It will be fine. Before you know it, it will all be over! Will be thinking about you tomorrow!

Hi Jill, Welcome to the September Bandsters!! I have my surgery on the 29th. I meet with the bariatric nurse and dietician tomorrow, lab work and meet with nurse practitioner the following week, and start my 2-week liver shrinking diet on the 15th. I, too, have hd the "last supper" syndrome. I've told my husband all the places I want to eat and what I want to eat until then. It's crazy! Well, we're glad you've joined us. Take care. All of us are willing to help in any way. Peg

You're not alone! My mother and daughter are insistent that I'm making the biggest mistake of my life. I think it's because they don't understand it fully. I even took literature to my mom, but her mind is made up. My daughter is large, too, and I think she's just a bit jealous. We had an aunt who died from gastric bypass, and I believe they both think about that. I have tried to show them that this is so much safer. BUT, I do have a lot of people behind me, too! So, I'm not letting it get to me. I'm doing this for me--mainly for health reasons. So, let's all just stay positive. We know what we're doing, and it's going to be the best thing we've all done for ourselves! Yay, Lap-Band!!!!!

Hi Nancy, I'm getting the Lap-Band with plication, too. My surgery is Sept. 29th. You'll have to tell me all about your experience with the surgery, etc. I'm so ready to get this done. Good luck to you on Friday. I'll be thinking about you. Peg

Hi Gary, I'll be banded on Sept. 29th as well! We're all going to be so fit. I went through a year long process which was good and bad. I had time to research a lot about the Lap-Band. I have a 4-hr. mtg. with the bariatric nurse and dietician next Wed. Another with nurse practitioner in my surgeon's office and lab work on Sept. 13, and then start my 2-week liver shrinking diet on the 15th. It's going to be a busy month! Welcome aboard!

Hi Erika, I have a 4-hr. pre-op meeting on Sept. 7th, do my pre-op testing (EKG, Chest x-ray, and blood work) and meet with my nurse practitioner on the 13th. Start my 2-wk liver shirnking diet on the 15th. I'm so excited. Just want to get this show on the road!!! Peg
-
Hi Erika! Exciting times around the corner for us! I'm having the plication along with the band. My dr. has started doing it with all his patients. Let's do stay in touch. I'm so glad to know that someone will be sharing the same date! Take care.

Hi Kristin, It seems like some drs. require a liver-shrinking diet for a period of time before surgery and others do not. My dr. puts his patients on a mostly liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Sept. 27th will be here before you know it--as will my date of the 29th. We can make it.............Peg

Hi Becky Jane, Besides having to wait a year for my ins., once I had completed all of the requirements, my Life Coach that I had to work with for a year informed the dr's. office on the 19th of Aug. that my year was up. They said they had the 25th as the yr. Then the ins. said the same thing until my Life Coach contacted the person at the ins. co. who oversees my case. She said that she didn't know where the 25th came from, that I had been certified for surgery. Ooooooh, I was boiling mad. Anyway, now I'm scheduled for a few mtgs., classes and labs before my surgery on the 29th of Sept. I hope you will be able to keep your Sept. 19th date. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Take care, and keep us posted on your progress! Peg

Hi Katyana, Welcome to the September Bandsters! I wish I could get mine early in Sept. but my date is the 29th. Just will make it for Sept. I look forward to hearing from you after your surgery! Peg

Appt. with Nurse Practitioner and lab work on September 13th. Start liver shrinking diet on Sept. 15th. I'm so excited that things are ready to happen. I'm sure September will fly by. Good luck to everyone who is being banded in September.. Peg
