When can I have SALAD??
janinemaire replied to Weightbgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted salad so bad, I started having it around 12 weeks but very little, I was usually to full to eat it. Most times now I mix chicken with it, I need my greens. But ask your doctor. -

janinemaire replied to Was a humpty dumpty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I was thinkiing but didn't want to say it, only weight loss boards would think that's a funny April Fools joke, lol -

Wow 140 pounds lost, that is so great. I never thought about high heels how much easier it would be when your thin, I haven't wore heels in years because they hurt my feet so much. Thank you for sharing I needed that today. -
WHY AM I LOSING SO FREAKING SLOW!!! ARGH!!!
janinemaire replied to Reese's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder why you can't eat, are you not hungry, does it hurt when you eat? Do you have a lot more weight to lose? I also had my surgery in November and have lost exactly the same as you, 46 pounds (55 pounds with pre op) with another 70 pounds to go. I don't have trouble eating, I take in around 800-850 calories and keep my carbs 60 or under. I do eat healthy but have trouble getting all my Protein, I don't drink enough Water and have not exercised yet. I'm sure this is the cause of my slow weight lose. Which I am planning to work on but I think I am just a very slow loser, which is okay. Maybe see what else is going on, some things we can change and some things we can't but at least the scale is going down. Good luck, Janine -
cud I have Gallstones???
janinemaire replied to disp4so's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I needed my gallbladder out before they would do the sleeve. I was so mad but I was suffering for 3 years with severe attacks and everyday mild pain, I was to embarressed to go to the doctors because of my weight so I just waited. After they took out my badly diseased gallbladder I felt so much better. So if it is your gallbladder try not to worry, it will feel like a big relieve when its over. Good luck : ) Tiffykin- congratulations, you must be so excited: ) -
My daughter works at Jumba juice and they have very good smoothies mostly healthy and some unhealthy. But you can have them make a smoothie any way you want and they can add Protein powder also. My daughter said tell them what you want in your smoothie and they will make it and if you don't like it they will make you another one for free. I tried so many after my surgery, but don't tell my daughter I really don't like smoothies in general.

A carb is still a carb even if it is a healthier carb from brocolli and whole wheat bread. I count them all. A small banana has over 30 carbs and 17 grams of sugar, even though it is a better carb it is too much.

I feel horrible....Is really thinking was it worth it???
janinemaire replied to Weightbgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After you start feeling better you will know it was worth it, take care of yourself Janine -
I found these Kim's Magic Pops, they are big airy crackers that have 15 calories, 0 fat and only 4 grams of crabs. They melt in your mouth but they are very good for hummus or salsa. I found them at Shop Rite in New Jersey. Just wanted to pass it on.

I'm just 4 months out but the way I see it you've only gained 15 pounds so you still lost so much weight so stop beating yourself up. You probably just need to get back on track and just a thought maybe talk with a counselor. Sometimes we need help getting and staying in a new phase of our lifes, even if its positive, its something I am planning to do also. Good luck!

I get the same way and I tried a sip of diet ginger ale and it made me feel worse. What helps me is a cup of hot tea.

Buying Clothes While Loosing Weight?
janinemaire replied to MommyTawnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love leggings and you can get them pretty cheap, I think they look nice with bigger shirts and with nicer weather flats or sandals. Also you can just put on your sneakers and go for a walk, which I am going to start doing tomorrow. -
I'm four months out, it's good and bad
janinemaire posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As of tomorrow I will be four months out and have lost 42 pounds (53 total). I am happy with what I have lost but I would have liked to have lost more so far. I know what I am doing wrong, I don't really excerise and I have trouble eating 60 grams of Protein but can easily eat 50 or 60 grams of carbs. Getting to 800 calories is difficult without adding extra carbs. I usually only eat good carbs but sometimes I do have a sweet. I still need to lose about 70 lbs more. I'm so happy I had the surgery and I have changed a lot of bad habits but i still have a lot of work to do. I want to be proud of myself because I have tried for years to lose weight and this is the first time I went past 30 pounds. I'm not asking for any type of sympathy just some feedback. This forum has been a lifesaver, everyone has there own story, that i really enjoy reading and feel encouraged by. Not to mention how much I have learned from eveyone. Thank you, Janine -
Any foods that "stick" with you longer?
janinemaire replied to Deedle Dee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think Protein is the best way to feel full longer. I like cheese sticks or laughing cow cheeses. -
Post-Op Hunger Poll
janinemaire replied to Can'tweight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted that I sometimes get hurgry. I would sometimes get an empty feeling and have a few bites of food then I'm fine. I have notice in the last month I'm less hungry than I was, I'm not sure why. -
I'm four months out, it's good and bad
janinemaire replied to janinemaire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, I agree with the carbs and walking. I have been keeping a food diary on my fitness pal, which I faithfully put in everything I eat. And looking back my carbs are around 40 to 60 grams, but my protein is around 40. I just get sick of so much protein. I guess like everyone else I'm still learning what works and what doesn't. Thank you for your input. -
100 Pounds Down in less than 6 months -- It's a Beautiful Day!
janinemaire replied to juliarh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Julie, by your picture you look so beautiful, your story is such an inspiration. You have done so much with your life to be proud of and losing 100 pounds must be high on your list of achievements. Congratulations and happy birthday, Janine -
I could not wait to eat salad, I would watch other people buying it in the store wishing I could have it. After 12 weeks my nut said I could try it and I've had no problems. I agree with LilMissDiva I need to find room for some greens for health reasons. I mix chicken or other meat in it, I love it.

You are doing everything your supposed to be doing and your not losing. I completely understand why your upset. But like everyone here will tell you, it will work. Your body is still getting used to your new stomach and soon the weight will be coming off. I'm sure you don't need to hear this because you know it but I'm saying it anyways because I'm a mom is to try not to smoke. Your starting a new healthy life and smoking is not part of that equation. Good luck, Janine

Anyone have a food you sleeve didn't like???
janinemaire replied to Becca's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you did eat to fast. That happened to me when I eat to fast. For me hamburger meat works real good with my sleeve. My new favorite thing to make is chili. I cannot eat bananas or sprimp. I also cannot eat pork or roast beef. But I will slowing try to include them again in my diet. -
Change already.....weight and life
janinemaire replied to learningintuition's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a good feeling when you realize you body is working better. I remember on weight watchers they would say losing 20% would give you a lot of health benefits. Learningintuition, I'm almost 4 months out and i feel sick if I even take a sip of Water with my food. I was told we could not drink and eat at the same time. I guess all doctors are different. Anyways your doing great wiith your weight loss: ) -
HELP I need Tips for slowing down
janinemaire replied to Audrey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am a fast eater, I try to slow down but I know its hard. I really can't eat as fast as I used too but after two fast bites I feel I have to wait before I take another bite. So I push my plate away and talk with my family or I'm on the computer. -
How many does your doc/nut say?
janinemaire replied to myrori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 1/2 months out lost about 40 pounds and stay around 850 cals. Sometime I barely take in 600 calories. I think I'm losing so slow with such little calories I take in. I'm always freaking out about carbs, if I go over 60 I feel like I messed up my day. Some weight loss habits are so hard to break like putting myself down for not eat perfectly that day. -
Like everyone else said, my only regret is not getting the sleeve earlier. I'm 3 months out lost almost 50 pounds and feel real good. A day before and a few days after my surgery I was thinking I should not be doing this, but that is normal. I'm so glad I had the surgery and I'm sure you will too. Good luck

when will i ever learn??? and a question
janinemaire replied to ptoezee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three months out and am able to drink a little faster. But I will still get that pain if I drink water too cold, hot tea feels the best.
