  1. i was allowed wendys chili at 2 weeks outs. Other red meats took a little more time to get used to, shrimp really bothers me for some reason.
  2. hello, I'm almost 10 months in a few days but I don't think I eat more than I did since I was 4 or 5 months out, I hope it stays that way. for breakfast I have a egg with cheese almost everyday lunch I have turkey breast with swiss cheese about 3 oz and avacado slices, or left overs from dinner snack string cheese or cottage cheese or the rest of my lunch dinner whatever I make for my family, chicken, steak, chili, etc. snack- magic pop cracker (my favorite one big cracker has 15 calories with 4 grams of carbs) with Peanut Butter or hummas or salsa I usually have a little fruit and vegatable during the day. I don't eat much breads, Pasta, or rice- it bothers my stomach. I do two or three times a week have a sweet, I think it helps me stay eating healthy the rest of the time.

    2 week Pre-Op Diet-HELP

wow that does seem very strict. I didn't have to diet until 2 days before my surgery and I could barely stand that. I'm wondering why you can't try different Protein drinks, is it because this is something your doctor sells in his office? If not I would call the office and say you need to try different protein drinks something you will like. I'm sure lettuce with a drop of dressing is not going to make a difference. I know its hard but after you recover from the surgery your going to feel better than you have in a long time. So if this is what your doctor wants you to do now do your best and know things will get better. Good luck!
  4. Suzannesh- just curious because I am almost 10 months out but you said it took you 14 months to lose a 105 pounds (which is amazing) but did you continue to lose after a year. I'm nervous i won't finish losing. Also I barely eat 800 calories mostly because I always feel too full but I think I would lose more if I could eat more. How do you all get up to 1000 calories. I too was able to eat most foods by 6 weeks, I think its a good thing.

    WHY??NEED ENCOURAGMENT

Great advice, I know I need a chocolate every few days which helps me not pick. If I see I am snacking more maybe around TOM I make sure to have ready protein snacks which also helps. Also I did find I snacked more early on then I do now. We just have to learn to make a conscious effort to know what we are eating and why. Easier said than done I know but you will be okay and give yourself a break your doing great with your weight loss.
  6. At almost 10 months I still love feeling full after a few bites of food. Sometimes I think or want to eat more but my sleeve says no way. A few times in the beginning I had one bite to much and got sick, I also thought by having some Water would help me feel better which was a hugh mistake. So I learned I need to stop eating before I was too full and never ever try to drink with my food.

    Carb Intake after surgery

Before I was able to eat real Protein I ate a lot more carbs, including potatoes with a cheese sauce. Now I couldn't imaging eating that because it would bother my stomach. Also I didn't start journaling my food intake until I was around 6 weeks. Than I started having about 40 or less total carbs, now at 9 months I have about 60 or less. I'm sure your fine and your doing great with your protein. Good luck.

    Did I just blow it??

At two weeks I was allowed to eat chicken as long as I ate very slowly and chewed well. I agree its a good idea to eat every few hours.
  9. All the more reason I'm so grateful I didn't do the lap band. My friend is getting lap band surgery, I have tried to tell her of all the problems with the lap band but she said she decided that's what she wants to do. I just wished her well and told her its a personal choice.

    what am i doing wrong?

I also walk, 2 miles most days of the week. I took me months to get into the habit of exercising now I hate when I miss a day. I think your goal needs to be where you feel comfortable, mine goal is about 10 pounds higher then it should be for my height. I never did protein shakes, I think real food is the most filling. Do you journal your food? If you stick with to the basic ( high protein/low carbs) you will continue to lose. Sometimes a shock to your body can be to increase of calories for a day then lower them. Or very low carbs for a day. One thing I learned is our bodies seldom do what we expect it to do. Good luck

    When could you drink CAFFEINE?

I started with black tea right away, decaf for the first month, than moved on to regular coffee.

    what am i doing wrong?

I think at 5'7, 135 pound is very low goal, any thing under 160 pounds is a heathly weight. So you lost 58 pounds so far, your almost half way to goal and thats so great. I can't believe nobody is noticing the weight loss, they may not want to say anything. Stick with the basic protein first and you'll finish losing. Also maybe try to increase your exercise, it does make a difference. I hate to say it but I think were stuck with the stretch marks. Good luck!
  13. Heather is right and hope your feeling good after your surgery. It took me 8 months to get to onderland, yes slow but still feels just as amazing as if it would have taking me 4 months.
  14. I agree with everyone who posted. I don't keep junk in the house that I will eat but if I want something sweet I will have to go out and get it. Don't be so hard on yourself.
  15. Yup, this sounds like my story too. I have been losing 6 pounds a month since I was 3 months out. I am nervous because I've barely lost anything the last 6 weeks. I'm 9 months out and lost about 80 pounds but I still have 47 pounds to go. Coops is right though it will happen. When you think about it, how could it be possible to not lose weight with the amount we eat. Foxgirl, thats a interestiing point you made, my body was at the weight I am now for a long time maybe it just wants to sit there a while.

    Water issues

I had the same problem with water, it tasted terrible the first few months. I also hate surgar free stuff. What worked for me was mixing a little bit of fruit juice with the water just enough to change that weird flavor. Now I'm fine with water but I don't drink enough.
  17. You should feel so much better when you get that gallbladder out. I posted before, I was sick for a long time with a diseased gallbladder. I was to ashamed to go to the doctors because of my weight. After it was taken out I felt so amazing. Tiff is right though be careful of fats after the surgery for a while, I almost had a few accidents. Good luck: )
  18. Hello, I'm also am a single mother with teenagers. My daughter had all four wisdom teeth taken out two days after my surgery, I had to do my best to help her. My son tried to help but thank god it didn't take me long to recover. Family also helped out, but I was back to work (I have a daycare) within a week. Everyone is different so just be more prepared. The best advice I got was to cook and freeze some dinners. Good luck!
  19. I also use myfitness pal, I track everything which is so important. I didn't know you can scan the bar code, I've got to try that. Also it helps keep track of your exercise and goals.
  20. It does sound like your gall bladder, I had mine out before my sleeve surgery. I suffered for 3 years with attacks and when I finally got it taken out I can't even explain how much better i felt. Feel better and good luck, Janine
  21. I'm 8 months since surgery and I still like to see what people are eating. I eat Breakfast around 10- usually a egg with a little cheese lunch around 1- my favorite about 3 oz of rolled turkey breast, swiss cheese and avacodo snack- cheese stick dinner around 7- whatever I make for my family- chicken, steak, and a little vegetable snack- Kims magic pop cracker with Peanut Butter, or a Protein bar if my calories are to low I drink coffee and Water (I never drink enough though)

    Upping calories to lose weight

I lose weight so slow, basically after 8 months I can barely eat 800 calories a day but only lost 78 pounds. The only way I get to 1000 is if I eat junk, of course junk food slides down. I'm starting to think I would lose faster though if I could eat more. Interesting to see your results. Janine

    How come I'm so nervous???

Hi, I'm pretty sure everyone was nervous before our surgery. For me I was ready to cancel the last few days before. I am so happy I didn't and you will be also. It is the best health decision I made. Of course their will be ups and downs and maybe regrets but you will fine and will work through it. If you have any questions or concerns, the people on this board can answer anything. I'm 8 months out and falling off the wagon is pretty hard with the sleeve. I will sometimes have an extra sweet I didn't need but I'm usually in control because the sleeve won't let me eat crazy the way I used too. Good luck with the surgery, Janine

    Almost 2 months - down 20 pounds

I know it really can be upsetting. I have been feeling down the last few days because of it too. I had my surgery in Nov and lost 76 pounds, 6 pre op. I have another 52 pounds to go and am nervous that maybe I'm done losing. Every month I lose around 6-8 pounds but this month so far nothing. But when I see how little I still eat , I can't imagine not losing weight when I barely take in 900 calories. I know we should not compare ourselves to others and no matter how we lose, were going to get to goal. Plus look how healthy we eat plus exercising. Your doing great,

    Feeling Sorry for Myself

I going through the same thing. The last few days I have been feeling upset about my weight loss. I'm eight month out and lost 76 pounds and lost nothing this last month. I'm worring if I'm done losing but I stil have 52 pounds to go. Also in NY it is so hot this week and I usually walk 2 miles a day. My Wii broke but I used to like doing the Wii fit. I have a free week at the gym so I'm going to use it. I would not go back to puree food, just see what your eating, and make sure your eating enough Protein. I believe the heat can make a difference in weight loss so it is even more important to drink enough Water. Feel better, Janne
