Rn here! Been a nurse for 10 years. First part of career spent at Children's Hospital and the rest and currently in labor and delivery (love it). I was suppose to be sleeved 7/16 but came down with a HORRIBLE sinus infection, ear infection and pink eye ( good times- ha!). They said they could get me scheduled for 7/24 but honestly I still am dealing with this sinus crap. My surgeon is not available again until August 13th so that will be my date. Oh don't think you July sleevers are getting rid of me though. I love this forum and am still hanging around on here. LOL! I hope you are all doing GREAT!!!! Amy

I wanted to introduce myself - My name is Amy and I am 33 years old. I am married to a wonderful man and have been for 12 years. We have two great boys who are 5 and 7 years old. I am a labor and delivery nurse and I truly do LOVE my job. Nothing like being a part of the miracle of birth, it is such an privilege to be able to be there for the families! I have currently have the lapband unfilled inside of me. I had surgery to have to placed in Sept of 2011 so not quite a year. I had the surgery and was very hopefully it would be the tool I needed to get my weight off. It went okay for the first few months but after that nothing but problems with pain and not getting restriction. My band has been unfilled for 3 months now. I was just going to get the band out and no do the conversion to the sleeve. I had found out once the band is in insurance doesn’t really like to take it out. After much thought and researching I had decided to convert to the sleeve. My insurance has approved the conversion to the sleeve!! My surgery was scheduled for July 16th BUT I came down with pink eye ( kids so nice to share), sinus infection, and ear infections. Since I had to cancel surgery they have pushed my date to August 13th. I have to be at the hospital at 5am for a 7:30am surgery. I will be staying 2 nights in the hospital. My band will be coming out and I will be sleeved. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I am but also excited. I chose the band originally because it wasn’t as “permanent” as the sleeve. Once part of your stomach is gone… its gone.. ! My band is now giving me horrible heart burn and nausea throughout the day - ugh! I want to be healthier.. I need to lose about 115 lbs which seems just overwhelming. My boys deserve a mommy who has the energy to run around with them. I deserve to be healthier and have more energy for what life has in store for me. I am so thankful I have a hubby who is so supportive, a family who is always willing to help and friends who I can count on. I look forward to getting to know you all as we proceed forward on this healthy lifetsyle we are choosing!!! Amy

Well I started Monday with a sinus infection, ear infection, and to top it off pink eye- ugh. I am on antibiotics that won't be over till Wednesday. I just didn't think having surgery Monday 16th and feeling horrible and then having to heal from surgery was a great idea. My surgery will be rescheduled for either 7/23 or 7/24. I was just about to type a post pretty similar to yours about the Vitamins. I feel the same way!! I know at first we need to have chewable but then we can go to pills or capsules ? What multi Vitamin do you all recommend? Can we do the gummy chews right after surgery?? Thanks, Amy

Maybe she is nervous about you having the surgery and instead of saying she is nervous about it she is acting like that? Just a thought? Amy

I am hoping someone can help answer this. I will be sleeved on July 16th and know it is important we take out Vitamins. I really like these vitamins from Andrew Lessman they are all capsules. Once we are sleeved are we able to break down the capsules in the our stomach since we won't have stomach acid? Can you swallow pills right after surgery? My nutritionist at the office is NUTS she doesn't provide any info but instead talks about herself her dogs and her new boyfriend. So any info you can all provide I would be very grateful!! Does out stomach start producing acid at some point? So it sounds like after a month capusles / tablets can be taken is what your doctor said? You all have been so very helpful! Amy

Cherie, I am getting my lapband out and being converted to the sleeve on July 16th. I know my doc said that I needed to take 6 weeks off with this surgery and I will be in the hospital for 2 days. When I had my band I was out a week and back to work no problem. He said with the scar tissue and the band removal they recommend 6 weeks. Amy

Erika... I was just wanna give you a hug! I am Christian too and am spending time in prayer! I am married with 2 boys and do want another baby but this weight has to come off.
