My balance was truly horrible a couple of yrs ago. I couldn't stand on one leg longer than 10 seconds without tipping over. I usually would catch myself before I hit the floor though. I started with a nice safe yoga class. It was a beginner class where they taught it sitting in a chair a really modified version, and also the regular beginner yoga. Prehaps you should try the modified yoga. My instructor was Joy and I know she has videos that can be bought. You should try that. I know that you may think the sitting is easier, but it's really not. It works all the same muscles without the worry of falling.

This may seem like a crazy reply but last yr for my 29th birthday i did pole dancing and it worked all the stomach muscles. Owe the pain. Now being as I'm not a tiny woman I couldn't believe I made it much less managed to flip my bum over. Now I realize your a guy, but they may have pole dancing classes for your gender near you. I'd check. The results are fantastic. I will mention that zumba took 4 inches off my hips in the first 8 weeks.

Ok. My story is this I'll be 30 yrs old this Saturday and 10 yrs ago I had the lap band. That's right I had the band 10 yrs ago not that long after it came out, and you could say I was a weight loss surgery loser, The band never worked on me and actually started me down the road of complications. Since I have had the band my weight has yo-yoed and I've also ended up with a huge case of acid reflux. To this day I still vomit reflux about once a day. It has taken years but I have finally found a surgeon willing to actually remove my band. This surgeon resides in Austin TX and comes highly reccommended. The new issue I have is this even though in the last 2 & half yrs I have managed to lose 78lbs and keep it off my weight has stagmented and the surgeon who is removing my band has asked me to consider the sleeve or the gastric bypass in lue of the band. I know people from both camps so I have an idea of what it means, but still I falter. I will be paying for it myself it I go the sleeve route and not the gastric bypass as my insurance won't cover it. My question is this everyone i know that has personally gotten the sleeve and the bypass has had them recently, so if there are people that had them a few yrs or so out i'd like to hear your experience. Also any complications or anything relevenate that was learned the hard way. P.S I have no complications such as diabetes, high blood pressure etc. I am however about 107 pounds above the smallest weight i can be and still be considered healthy.

Unsure looking for alittle advice
lala30 replied to lala30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've been keeping up on the forums so I know there are people farther out. I have a cousin that is 1 yr out and is doing fab1 I've pretty much decided to do the sleeve. Now my big deal is do i do it here in TX or in Mexico. I'm in good health no complications except reflux from the band so I am really considering Mexico. I'm alittle worried about whether it will effect my medical insurance if I go that route or not. Although I've been in the boat of not having medical insurance and that wasnt bad either. I guess having the ability to pay helps. I just don't want to pay the $12,500.00 difference between getting the band to sleeve revision in texas then mexico. Also I am a self payer. -
Ok I will start with this with... I actually had the lap band done 9 years ago and I started down the sleeve road about a month ago. My surgeon here in Texas actually recommended having the band taken out and switching to either the gastric bypass or sleeve. Well... After about 3 days of thinking and research I decided that the sleeve is suppose to do everything the band didn't so that is what I'm going to do. Which sounds great right? No not really I actually decided to do the surgery that is not covered by my medical insurance so it's going to cost me a arm and a leg. I have to say that I may have fainted a little when my surgeon in TX told me is was going to be just shy of 19,000.00. Then I decided for comparisions sake and for my mental health I would get ahold of the surgeon in Mexico who did my band surgery and see who he would recommend. Well he reccommended Dr Alvarez and also the surgeon I'm seeing here in TX. What a hoot! Ok so maybe not. Anyway after talking to the people who spoke fluent english god bless them at Dr Alvarez's office and then reading testimonials and so fourth i decided to do a price analysis. Mexico will cost just shy of 8,000.00 for everything. By everything I mean airfare for 2 to either San Diego or San Antonio, hotel for 3 days after my surgery even food and drink and $200 for shopping. Hey I'm a postive person. Yes I know there is a chance moving around may not be my idea of a great time 2 days after surgery, but hey I've always had a high pain tolerence. So, What I would like is if anyone who has had there surgery with Dr Alvarez is out there and willing to tell me how it went for them I would appreciate it alot. Thank you!!
