  1. 172lbs has always been my stuck at weight in the past too. My first mini goal is to get to 165lbs. The lowest I have ever gotten was 166lbs, I didn't stay there long mind you, but I just want to beat that number!

I am two weeks post-op and started mushies yesterday. I am finding myself so hungry lately! The clinic says that is a sign that I am healing which is good, but I just want to eat everything and ice cream has become my nemesis. I am going to try to increase the Protein today and see if that helps stave off some of this hunger.

  2. Hope you are feeling better. My doc said not to take off the steri strips on my own. Everyone is different though so listen to your doc. CAT

I had to take off my steri strips today. I was so nervous to do it, for fear of ripping off my skin too. I stood in the shower for a long time to let them soak and eventually got them off. Now I have to contend with the black/grey tape goo that is left over!

  3. Day 6 post-op for me, which means full fluids! I never thought I could be this excited for fat-free yougurt. I have lost 4lbs since the surgery and hope it dosen't stall as I begin to add more calories. I feel suprisingly good; no more gas pains, and minimal tenderness in the incision sites. Yup. Today feels like a good day!

  4. Way to go, Razz. Are you home now? I know you had to take quite a travel adventure to get this done.

I am back home now. I needed to spend the night and then flew home in the early afternoon. Unfortunately, I was assigned the middle seat for the 4 hour flight, and it was a bit uncomfortable.

Last night was rough, again with the shoulder pain. I also didn't expect to be as hungry as I am. I am certainly looking forward to the mushies stage at this point!

But all in all, these are just small prices that I am willing to pay to lose this weight for good.

  5. Hi everyone! Just wanted to drop a line and say that the surgery went really well. I was banded last Friday July 22 and had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time. I feel better than I thought I would, but the shoulder pain feels worse than yesterday. Love the heating pad for that! I am on Clear Liquids only for 5 days and I am feeling hungry but the fear of causing my band to slip by skipping ahead will keep me from cheating. Happy to finally be on this side of the surgery!:bananajump:

  6. Back home now and newly banded! It was great experience, the staff and doctors were amazing and made me feel very relaxed. My pain level is managable and it is my shoulder that is causing the most discomfort at the moment. Earlier on the drive home I felt some nausea and light headed, but all in all I am happy to be on this side off the surgery.

  7. Getting on the plane in just a few short hours. Surgery is at 7:30am tomorrow! At the beginning of the month it felt so sloooow, and now it suddenly is here. Yikes! I still have a bit of a cough and hope that won't be a issue in moving forward with the surgery. Of course, the last thing I want to do is cough after I have the band either.:(

  8. This is the week! I am happy that my Dr. only requires me to do the pre-op diet for 4 days which I am starting today. There is a heat wave this week and I am kinda happy about it as I will not be so hungry due to the sweltering heat. (at least I hope that is the case) I am taking the red-eye on Thursday night to Toronto for my Friday morning surgery and so far I am more happy than scared. The only thing that concerns me right now is that I have a terrible cold with chest congestion, I only have 4 days left to beat it, or I am afraid they will cancel my surgery. "sigh"

  9. argh! I am scheduled for surgery on Tues., 26th. I woke up this morning with a sore throat and stuffy nose. I hope this doesn't delay my surgery. I have my pre-op appointment with the surgeon this Tuesday so I'll see how it goes. I'm going to get me some Vitamin C tablets. If it does progress, I'll have a week to knock it out. Not good timing.

I too am in the same boat! I have my surgery scheduled for this Friday, the 22nd. I have a terrible cough and chest congestion. I have 3 or 4 different cough medication now and gotta beat this thing ASAP!!!

  10. You can do this! I had a two week liquid diet and here's how I had to look at it: There was the sane, well (but overly) fed me and then there was the STARVING me who wanted to make poor choices. There were times when the starving me got the best of the situation but then I remembered that I made this choice to change my life when I was the sane me. You are almost there- it's worth it already and I'm only 3 weeks post- op!!!

What a great response! I am starting my pre-op diet in 1 week and I am nervous about it because being hungry has derailed all of my diet efforts in the past. I will keep your comment in mind when the hunger monster in me tries to take over!

  11. I am from the GTA area in Ontario. I was banded Nov 24, 2010, and am down about 75lbs.

Best decision i've ever made :)

That's what I want to hear!! While I am so excited about this, some of the stories in this forum can be a bit scary. Do you experience some of the symptoms that I read about here such as throwing up, reflux, etc? How do you manage them if you do?
