Last Supper Mentality??
sweetthingMN replied to Hazelbunny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do have to say that I did not go through the last meal syndrom. I had to be on a liquid diet for 10 days prior to surgery. I had committed myself to this procedure and food has never really ruled my life. I have never been an emotional eater or a snacker. I pretty much ate very balanced meals but my problem was portion control. I was banded on 12/26/06 and to date I have lost 47 lbs and a lot of inches. I have no regrets and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. -
I need to know what others are doing for exercise. I am walking 2 miles a day and will soon be able to get back in the pool. I do my walking while I am at work, during my lunch hour and then swim at night. I am just wondering, should I be eating before I go for my walk or should I eat after and how long should I wait after walking to eat? Any suggestions would be of great help. Also what other type of exercise should I do. I am going to look into some exercise DVD's.

I went through Park Nicollet also. My surgeon was Dr. Svendsen. He was absolutley positively the best. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. I just kept pushing and being persistant with all my appointments. Had no glitches or no hoops to jump through. -

Hi - I am from Minnesota. I am in Burnsville. I had my lapband surgery on December 26, 2006 with Dr. Svendson at Methodist Hospital so I am 6 weeks out. I have lost 37 pounds since December 17th so things are going really really good for me. My whole process didn't take very long. I started with an information session in late September, had my first appointment on Oct 10th and my last appointment on Nov 13th with surgery scheduled for Dec 26th. I didn't wait for them to call me, I called and got the ball rolling for appointments and kept pushing to get all my appointments as soon as possible. One piece of advice - don't wait around for them to call you and be persistant. If you want to email me you can do so at myharley2004@yahoo.com. I have absolutely no regrets and look so forward to going into a store and not having to go to the "large ladies" section. -
Banded on Dec 26, 2006

My doctor requires me to do the Instant Carnation Breakfast instead of the low carb drinks because he wants me to get my protein from milk. -
I was recently banded on Dec 26, 2006. Since December 17th (pre-op liquid diet) I have lost 37 pounds. For the last week and a half I have not lost anything and teetering between 263 and 262. I am eating about 4 ounces of food at each meal, drinking 3 8z Protein drinks (fat free skim milk with 1/2 package Carnation Instant Breakfast) throughout the day. Is it normal to get where you do not lose any weight until the band is adjusted? My first adjustment is 2/21. Is it possible that I am losing inches and not weight? Every couple of days my clothes feel looser fitting? Can someone answer these questions for me? I am a new member here and have read a few threads and have learned a few new things about banding but wanted to get your input on my situation. Thanks. Kristi

I had surgery at 1:30 in the afternoon and was in the hospital for two nights. Was only suppose to be one night but I was very nausious (sp) still the day after so my surgeon wanted to keep me an extra night. Once home I felt fine just a few problems with getting rid of the gas that they use to blow your stomach up.

I am a new member here. I was banded on December 26th. It was my 40th b-day present to myself. Since December 17th I have lost 37 pounds. I have many questions regarding menus for this new lifestyle of mine and would greatly appreciate any help that you are willing to give.
