    Who Am I

You are one strong lady! Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery! I wish you nothing but the best!!
  2. I've kept my vsg journey under wraps from a lot of people. I could probably count on one hand how many people I've told. My brother and sister in law were in the group of people who are not in the know. I'm close with my brother but not so much with my sister in law. It's not that we don't get along...we do...we just seem to be in two totally different worlds. Anyway, I've seen them a handful of times since I had my procedure and they never said anything. I kept thinking that maybe it was because my sweater was loose or maybe my pants were too loose fitting to tell. Today I saw my sister in law and I was feeling pretty good about myself. Well fitting jeans and a top that wasn't too big for me to hide in...still, she said nothing. There's no way she couldn't have noticed.....right?? I mean 47lbs...I feel like she's bound to have noticed a little bit! What in the world? Have any of you had this happen to you before? I know weight is a sensitive topic...but if it's a loss, why wouldn't someone jump to cheer them on? Weird.

Sounds wonderful and you certainly deserve it! ENJOY!
  4. You are a strong woman and certainly don't deserve to be treated that way! Thinking about you and praying for your strength! Time to take care of you my friend!!

All I Could Do Was Cry

Raising my hand...I was also a vit d defciant gal prior to surgery. The good news is, with a supplement and maybe even a little sunshine you will be ok. It didn't prevent me from having the sleeve done and all is well. Breathe in and breathe out....crossing my fingers (and toes, and eyes and...) for approval!
  8. You're going to do great!! Congrats on all that's to come!
  9. I did the roll to one side trick too. I like the idea of a pillow though!
  10. You are my hero!!! Your video brought tears to my eyes...tears of joy of course! You walking in the rain...I promise you, the next time I think of some weak excuse to not work out, I will think of you in the rain!! Thank you for posting and keep up the great work!! P.S. Your kids are adorable!!
  11. Just wanted to wish you good luck!! I think it's totally normal to be a basket case...I think I'd be concerned if you weren't a little nervous! This is such a positive step towards good health...I don't think you'll have any regrets.
  12. Was sleeved on 10/18 and set my first mini goal...to lose 50lbs by Christmas. Drum roll please...today I'm down 50.8lbs!! So stinkin' excited!!

  13. Congrats to you!!! This is great news!
  14. Over the weekend we went out to dinner with my family. We were taken to our table, which just so happened to be a corner booth. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has avoided booths in the past. I was sleeved 10/18 and am down just shy of 50lbs and I still haven't tackled my fear of the booth. Instead of making a big deal out of where we were seated I figured I'd just cross my fingers and try. Wouldn't you know I was one who had to slide towards the middle? lol Not only did I have NO problems "fitting" but I had lots of extra room! I was so happy and sooo relieved! It's the little things like that that happen on a daily basis that I"m really starting to notice. Loving my sleeve!
  15. Wow a big sleeve day tomorrow!! I'm so excited for you ladies!! Wishing you nothing but the best!
  16. Hang in there you guys! You're right, the pre-op is VERY hard!! Just remember you are smack in the middle of the hardest part. It's so tempting to cheat because your body is feeling everything that you've cut out...but it is for a reason. Stay strong....you're going to do great!
  17. I always love to hear these kinds of success stories!!! You've done an awesome job! Congrats!!

    So Excited! Spoke W/ Rep.....

    What great news!!! Congrats!!
  19. What a great topic!! I have two....the first one is the fact that I have SO much more energy!! I'm not so exhausted at the end of the day and I actually get bored or restless if I'm sitting around for too long! The other is I love that I'm able to get on the floor and play with my 3yr old....and then I'm able to get back UP! lol My sleeve and my losses have allowed me to be a better, more involved mommy!!
  20. Thank you ladies...so glad to hear I'm not alone in this. After reading your posts I'm almost convinced it must be a sensitivity issue. I'm with you sleeve of steel, I'm a little sad when people don't notice. BUT, I cant really complain since it was my decision to exclude them from my experiance. Since we've all had someone not say anything when we wished they would've, let me say to all of you, "YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!! Your losses are something to be excited about and I'm so proud of you!" :-) lol
  21. I am SO happy to read this!! I always used a straw pre-op and was really disapointed when I heard that we couldn't use them post-op. I know that I will drink more using one and I cant wait to break them out again!!
  22. Do you have long hair? You may want to bring something to tie your hair back. I wasn't really doing the whole, get up and get pretty routine, so my scrunchies were a must! Good luck to you and your grandmother tomorrrow..how awesome!

    Unjury Chicken Broth

I actually used a candy thermometer the first time I made mine. It took about a min to a minute and 15 sec to heat to 130.
  24. This is a tricky question because I've read where some people don't get one, others have one and have it removed before they wake up, some people keep it for a few days and others (me included) keep it about a week post op. I think this varies depending on the doctor. Not much help I know lol
