I started with a class at Duke Regional Weight Loss Centers on March 29th, 2011 and weighed 267lbs.  I was so impressed with the staff there and the Drs.  Well I came home and went right to work calling insurance co and my primary care manager.  My insurance company (Tri-Care Prime) was very nice and explained what I needed and who I needed to go too.  Problem was that they would not send me to Duke.  This facality was out of network and they would not cover it.  So ok that did not get me down.  I went to my PCM on May 17th to talk with him about my situation.  I have 3 morbiaties and am overweight and gaining plus always hungry and never satisfied.  He referred me to a surgeon in Morehead City to start the process with them.
On June 13th I attended the class for the Carolina Center for Weight Loss Surgery seminar.  Now I will say I guess I went to the best and was just hoping for the same but the staff was far from friendly.  They were short and not real helpful.  The class was geared all towards the Lap Band very little information was given on Bypass or any other surgeries out there.  So that sort of bothered me since I am deciding which way to turn.  I scheduled my appointment with the dr for June 21 hoping that I would get a better feeling.  I went to this appointment and was a little more comfortable but not blown away.  The nurse was very short and very geared towards the Lap Band!  But ok she gave me 5 booklets that I had to sign for and read before coming back and told me that she would have a packet of stuff with appointments that I had to attend to proceed.  Ok I get that they are busy but I do work full-time and have 2 Autistic children so I can not just have someone make appointments and tell me to be there.  Come on.  I got the check-list and well most of it is done that I can do until the nurse finds the time to send me the packet.  Which she informed me it would be at least Thursday before she even put it together.  So I have to wait now for them.  I am starting to get very discouraged with this facitality that my Insurance company has chosen.
