I'm really nervous that my insurance won't cover the surgery!

Gee at list you can call an actual case manager. At UHC I can't even talk to them. I get my information from customer service from the care coordinator. -

I'm sitting too! I called UHC yesterday to find out 30 days meant working days. Should know something by APril 16th. I know that is not long but.... -
I think the pound a day is more likely with gastric bypass. Lap band is a more "normal" weight loss process.

Congratulations Sheila! I guess I'll keep waiting on that call from our Dr.!
-
Okay Sheila, you are scaring me.
-
Thanks, bikergirl, I have since discovered your UHC is better than my UHC.
-
Congratulations! How are you feeling today?

Anyone have UHC hmo choice and have been approved?
-
Did you have to wait 30 days?
-
Does anyone know if UHC care coordinators post their decision on the personalized website at www.myuhc.com?

Welcome pretty penny!

As I wait for UHC to approve me, I workout and try to research as much as possible to make sure I'm making the right decision. It is very agonizing waiting on them. I realize 30 days is not long to wait, but it sure seems like it. I have began steps and it is doing something awful to my knees, but I do enjoy the burn upon completion. I'm going to google and find out what I can take to help strengthen my knees so that I can make it through my 45 minutes of steps. I love steps. It feels like it's the only thing good for this big girl shaped like a pepsi cola bottle! It works my butt, hips and legs so good! My appetite has increased and I understand why. So I eat 5-6 small muchies a day (to small to call a meal) I'm trying to workout at least 5 times a week. I know I will have to change in a few months to 7 days a week to fight off that plateau. I do think about replacements, slippage and other problems that may arise. The best defense is for me to do all I can to follow the rules of banding and make sure if there are any problems they are due to circumstances beyond MY control. Hurry up UHC!:biggrin1:

Probably. I just got off the phone with my HR benefits manager who explained to me I have HMO Choice which bariatric surgery is covered 90%/10%. So I will wait.

I have UHC choice plus EPO. My pcp approved me back in February. My pressure, back, and ankles are my complications. My BMI was 42.4 when paperwork was submitted (since I began working out it has dropped to 41.5) UHC received the paperwork from the surgeon on March 3rd. I called on March 19th and they told me to allow 30 days. Yes or no is sufficent. What are they looking for?
-
I spoke with someone at UHC and they stated give them 30 days WTH? They began to review on 3/3/07, so that's giving them 4/2/07. Or is that working days? This doesn't sound too good. Anyone on here, UHC told you to give them 30 days to make a descision and got approved?:omg: Please tell me yes!

That is a blessing bikergirl360. Congratulations!

I called yesterday and was told the file was CLOSED on March 10, 2007 but there was nothing in the system that could be seen to say whether that was a approval or denial! What kind of crap is this! BTW they gave me yet ANOTHER number 866-297-9393

See this is the mess I'm talking about. They received myt papers on March 1st, and it is still being decided yet yours reached their office and you got a response on the SAME day! BS
