1. I feel the same way! I'm one week away, not liking the fact that my surgery is now "out patient" procedure. I feel like a cow in the cattle being shuffled along.
2. I'm 1 week from surgery, week 2 of liquid diet. I added some nuts and pretzels to fill me. Not a lot of them, but I did add them. Also, I have added creamed soups which helps alot. I feel we are all different, and doctors place us on such extreme previsions simply because they know there will be a few "slips" I am also taking a liver detox to help the liver out alittle bit. Stay strong all, if you slip (which I had a bag of popcorn last Wednesday) get up, brush yourself off, strike out running again! We can't be yourself up now. There are enough psychological things which will take place post op, to not add more prep op.
3. Please don't try this at home. I had fish from long john silvers and had that right shoulder chest pain, before surgery! :faint:I had to put a heating pad on that shoulder. That's it for me. Back to strict liquids. Lesson learned.

Glad you are doing okay. How long was your preop diet, and was it liquid? I wonder if the different preop liquid diets determine what your after surgery gas problems will be. Thanks!

June 2007 Bandsters

I'm sorry to hear that. I would think they say this during yout GI scope before surgery so that could have started repair earlier. But nonetheless I'm glad it was found. Stay strong and be patient your day is coming.
6. Well, I broke down last night and bought creamed soups. I'm feeling much better today and it's getting a little better.
7. Congratulations, it will be here before you know it!
8. Monday began my first day of protein liquids. It wasn't that bad. What's difficult is trying to work and continually give my body fluids to keep from getting hungry. I just left an Oracle training session for two hours and was dizzy. I had two tablespoons of peanuts to get me back, and now I'm okay, I assume my sugar got to low, I don't have diabetes. I'm drinking plenty fluids and continue to work out. I'm not sure as to why my doctor does not have creamed soups on my list for these next two weeks, only clear broths, fruit juices, water of course, and protein shakes. Seem this would give some substance, especially with my vitamins which nauseated me on yesterday.Suggestions are welcome.

Anyone start out at 250ish, and 5'6"? Was your weight loss slow? I'm scared.

Pre-Op Hunger

My preop states no soft drinks, sugar free or not. I think this would help if I could at least have the sugar free. I'll keep you posted, starts Monday.
11. I will have a 12 day Protein liquid diet beginning June 11th. I Glad the girls leave for camp on Sunday so cooking for them won't be a temptation. By the time they return on the 16th, I should be numb to food! 2 days before surgery I have to drop the protein. My concern is working out. Will the protein be enough to control my hunger from exercise?

B-day June 25th!

I have confirmed my date for June 25th and I'm mixed emotional. Part of me is excited, part of me is afraid. If I hear "why" I'm more time I think I will scream. No one needs to know, but me. I have my reason I want to keep it off. I have yo yo'd long enough. Don't they realize that is bad for your heart. I love me, more than anyone else. It is time to start being just that. I'm excited about next year, where I will be physically, mentally, and spiritually. I'm looking for a personal trainer, within my budget who will be in it for the long haul. Won't insult my intelligence. My children have began lifestyle changes at home. Its best for all of us. I must be the example for others to follow. I will. Here on this day I start MY journey. It's my time, I plan on walking into my season. A Season for Everything To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up.... -- Ecclesiastes 3: 1-3 (KJV)

Perhaps a dumb question?

So is walking helps the air cavity out and gas xx helps the intestinal track?

Unfortunately, my doctor will not have the AP band until September. :faint:They asked if I wanted to wait. I said an emphatical NOPE! I'll take the old band!

Anyone see "Big Medicine"?

I watch the show. Like the doctors. It appears they only perform bypasses. I feel it's time for a show about Bandsters. Alot of people aren't as familar with the band as bypass.
18.
Hi all,

I had my EGD Wednesday and the doctor found a hiatal hernia. He said he will repair it when he place the band. Is healing longer? Recovery harder? Return to work long? Help!

Hiata Hernia

Thanks everyone. I guess alot of you didn't have a hernia.
21. I am pre-op, however, I have began to work out after seeing the picture from the here from February. The stomach and "powdered ant" look was a bit much for me so I decided I need a new way of life. I will be a June bandster, wanted to get over the stage fright of posting thick madam pictures, and felt this was good of a time as any. Stay tuned!
22. My pre-authorization testing: Psychiatric Clearance Physical clearance from PCP Preauthorization I answered the sleeping questions accurately so I didn't have the sleep study Then: EKG/Echocardiogram Chest Xray EGD Blood test Nutrtion Class Pre-Surgery Consultation with Surgeon
23. I will have what they call "labs" which will check for anything on May 24th. Smoke, infections, drugs, etc. My dtr. won't operate if you smoke.
