I don't have this problem but I hope the infection heals!
Get lots of rest, take your antibiotics and drink lots of fluids.

Hi, I had my surgery on the same date as you and was placed on soft foods at 10 days post op. I eat my Protein first and only eat the amount the surgeon tells me then I stop.
I don't eat until I physically feel full bc I don't think that's the point of the band. It just helps control the hunger between meals and you must make yourself stop eating instead of testing the limits of your band; if that makes any sense.
If it makes you feel better my first fill won't be until September 6.

Don't worry, you'll be just fine. My surgeon didn't even have me on a pre op diet. He said of all the thousands of people he's ever banded only one had a liver that was too big.

I've gotten the pregnant comment from an old person before too.
I'm confident that one day that will be a funny memory.
Congrats on the weight loss so far!
-
Haha, you're funny! Good luck on your surgery and beyond.

Who would've ever thought we'd be too full from cream of wheat? eh?

I'm almost 2 weeks and still a little bloated. I think some of it is b/c my tummy is too sore to "suck it in".

That's awesome! Congrats on your hard work.

Hi all, just wanted to give you all an update.
Its been 13 days since my surgery and I am feeling great!
1. I no longer have acid reflux at night (and in the morning).
2. I sleep soundly all night without getting up to the bathroom.
3. My skin complextion has cleared out and even my under eyes look a little less wrinkled.
4. I have more energy and don't feel like I'm dragging around all day.
It doesn't seem like much, but the above accomplishments have really made a huge difference in my well being.
I go to the surgeon for my 2wk follow up tomorrow. The only problem I have is that my belly button incision is opened. Doesn't look infected at all, and its about a 1cm long. Hopefully he will close it up.
I hope everyone else is doing great!

I'm right there with ya! I lost 10 lbs within the first 5 days and nothing since. I'm hoping my body gets the message soon and starts losing weight b/c its frustrating to be eating so little and seeing the same numbers.
-
Thank you all for the reassurance! I've been craving lots of spicy and tangy foods but I didn't want to mess anything up.
-
Sorry to ask this here but I don't go see the surgeon until wednesday.
Anyways, I was just wondering if it is harmful to the band if I like my foods really spicy or really sour??
Can I possibly cause harm with too much hot sauce??

I told my immediate family before getting it done and they thus far have been very supportive.
I also told my boss about it when I asked for the vacation time in case I needed more time to recover.
Went back to work today and told my coworkers. They were all surprised that I was able to go "on vacation" for a week, and come back to work in my peppy self after having surgery.lol

I've never heard of bowel prep for lapband. I hope she was giving you the right directions and not looking at someone else's chart. lol.
I hope the surgery went well today!!
-
That's definetly a good thing, and I hope to say the same in 3 wks time. My surgeon doesn't start fills until 8 wks either.
-
Non-narcotic? What's the point? lol
I've never heard of that for a lapband. All they gave me was the liquid lortab, but the pain wasn't that bad so I stopped taking it after the 1st three days.

I stick to 3 "meals" a day and even then I force myself to eat it over 20 minutes using a small spoon. So far I have been satisfied.
I think I have more swelling than you though b/c I drank half a cup of Fluid yesterday a little too fast and felt like it was coming up after a minute and my mouth got all watery. It was gross. That really helped me to slow down b/c I hate anything coming up!
Don't stress too much though, like others are saying, you are healing now and your band is empty. Maybe counting calories will help put you at ase until you get your first fill.

Congrats and welcome to the other side!

Sounds just about right.
Im on creamy foods, and today this is what I had.
Breakfast- packet of cream of wheat
Lunch- 1/3 cup of refried Beans whipped with a pinch of cheese and picante sauce.
Dinner- I plan to have 1/3 cup black bean puree with some mashed avocado on the side
No Snacks. I eat my little meals slowly and I do get full. I'm so glad to be off the liquids!

Don't beat yourself up too much. I didn't have a pre op diet and I ate mcdonalds the day before surgery.
I'm fine now that its out of my system, plus having the band makes things easier.
I'm not so hungry plus I physically cannot eat much.
Anyways, a little slip is not going to be a predictor of the future.
Good luck tomorrow!

No way I could that! Once its in my mouth, I'm swallowing that sucker!

my surgeon made me watch a video like that in his office prior to coming in to see me. It helped alot to see what was actually going to happen to me.

Yay! That's great! I'm the same about the exercise, but for me the lack of motivation is because the weather has been 100+ for the 2-3wks and I hate being out in it. I'm going to have to break out the Dance Central or something.
Anyways, keep up the good work!
