you look great Look at your waist- that's fabulous Good work -
I saw my surgeon this past Friday for my 6 week check. Everything looked really good, he was very happy with my progress and the nutritionist was thrilled with my eating logs and feels I am doing really well. Here's the seriously exciting part.... He thinks I will hit goal in 3-4 months! He told me previously that once I hit goal and was stable with all my labs and such he would clear me to TTC again! Holy crap! how cool is THAT! He said to expect a year or so, but bc of all the weight I lost BEFORE the surgery I am way ahead of schedule. I have only 30-40 pounds to be at goal and that is SOO crazy to me! AND, he said he wants me to get in to see my OB and possibly get a referral to an endocrinologist (not the fertility kind, a regular endocrinologist) to see where we go from here as far as my PCOS is concerned. We need to figure out what to do to test and see what the status of my PCOS is and if I should go off the metformin or not. I will have an appt with my OB/GYN in a couple weeks (ASAP) and hopefully get the ball rolling. I can only hope and pray that the PCOS is gone as well. I would LOVE to not take any meds other than my vitamins- hehehe sorry, but this is all really good news as far as I Am concerned

looking good -
well, I got an ulcer... but besides that, no I havn't had complications. I can pretty much eat normally now (I mean... a very small portion, but can eat what I Want). I have loose skin on my belly, arms and inner thighs BUT I think it will get better. It seems like my arms and tummy have started to bounce back a little. I have had a hard time with exercise lately... I usually just walk. But, it is dark when i get up in the morning and dark when i get home from work. I nanny, so I Dont get a break during the day to be able to go out and walk, so it has been a struggle. I got two jillian michael's videos, so I Am going to start doing those. Hopefully the change of pace will be a good thing, anyway I have been doing crunches on an exercise ball, which I love

As of today I have lost... 100 pounds!! EEK! I am so excited  I have only 16 pounds to go until I am at goal, I have gone from a size 28 to a size 14/16, I am no longer hypertensive, do not have sleep apnea, blood sugars are fabulous and my hormone levels are looking better (I have severe PCOS and androgen disorder).

do you have co-morbidities? If so, I would reeapeal. If not, kaiser has other really great weight loss programs you could look into. they have a medical weight management class (where to do meal supplements and so on) that is supposed to be really great. Just because they say you can't have surgery doesn't mean you can't lose weight.... it just may be in a different kind of program. Plus, if you try their other programs and your body does not respond, that gives them more reason to approve you for weight loss surgery as well. -
Thanks! Everyone loses at their own rate, so please dont feel bad! I take in approx 600-800 a day, depending on the day. I have been slacking on the exercise lately and need to get back on it.

There is no talk of coming off the met at this point. I am not yet TTC, but will be allowed to NPP once I reach goal, which is right around the corner. If everything looks good at my 6 month post op, we will be cleared to move on to medicated cycles.

I am taking prilosec (20mg 2x a day) and Sucralfate (10ml 3x a day). They said it cane take 2-3 months to clear up. I was on PPIs, yes. I was tested for helibactor... it was negative. So, we dont really know WHY I got an ulcer. I dont know how common it is.... I do know it is a listed risk factor in our handbook. But, I don't drink, smoke, take NSAIDs, nothing. What happened was... I had been fine for about 2 months. I never threw up, never really had any issues. Then suddenly I Started throwing up several times a week and have pain in between my rib cage. This, along with labs that indicate signs of an ulcer led them to the diagnosis. Thanks for the kind words/prayers. So far I do not feel much better at all.

no one has had an ulcer post op??

yes, I have been on met since aug '07 and I still take it. I do not take it for diabetes, though. I take it for PCOS.

big congrats to you. -
I have been horribly dehydrated and it seems nothing I do get me "caught up" and feeling better. Also, I have not had ONE solid BM since surgery... I only have wet/watery BMs. I thought it was bc I was still on full liquids, but even since starting eggs, tuna and so on it has not changed...

I'm SCARED to eat!!!
songbird_kay replied to Besitos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i hear ya hon... I was scared at first, but now I love having a little bit more of sloidness to eat. I am sooo lovin my egg salad right now. I found this tiny loaf of bread called coctail bread at Safeway that has teeny slices and is awesome. I toast it (one tiny slice) and use it with my egg/tuna salad. It makes me feel like I Am eating a real sandwich. :smile1: -
