Tips For Starting Exercise
ctarantino replied to MissManders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I joined Lucille Roberts a month before surgery. I was back at the gym the week after surgery, just walking on treadmill. For me I usually take the classes. I tried curves and was really bored on rotating the same circuit, plus the hrs were not good for me. I started couch 2 5K a simple running program and it works you up. Whatever you do make sure your not bored, you will not stick with it. I like the gym and do my runs 3 times per week and go to the gym 1-3 days. Wii also has the fit games that are good too! Good luck!!! -
I have a protein shake almost every morning since I had surgery in August. I also asked my dr his thoughts. He said if its working they are a GREAT way to get your protein in. Whatever works for you! If you have them and it keeps you full, stick with it! If your not full and snacking drop the shake. Good luck and drink up!

I had a fill on Dec 9th, I was thinking 6cc was too much but then I noticed I wasn't making good choices and eating way too fast. I have tried to eat breakfast but it just doesn't go. My band, like others, is too tight to get in eggs and it took me almost an hour on Sunday to eat oatmeal with rasins. I usually have a protein shake with ff milk in the am. I try to bring a snack like almonds, eat half a protein bar, string cheese to snack on the ride home from work cause I'm hungry when I get home and notorious for snacking. Good luck and don't think it slipped just try new foods that may work better or at different times. Eggs for breakfast?

Pizza Occassionally, Fill or no Fill???
ctarantino replied to larpens's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2weeks ago I managed 2 eat 2 slices and feel okay. No stuck episode just full. This past Thursday I ate a 1/4 of a slice and stuck and foamed the yucky feeling. Sometimes it depends what's in your stomach before, your stoma can also act different from day to day with same foods. -

Hi Sarah! i just went on Friday..altho I dont see a diff. He gave me .5 and I begged him for more, so then he gave me another 1. He said I am losing and dont need much, I said I am starving all the time so he realized I needed more. LOL I am down 30lbs since August so i am very happy but of course wanna lose more. How have you been? Are you getting ready? Are you starting to lose or going wild? lol

Morning A11's!! I haven't posted in a while. Usual craziness of back to work, the little ones, and I love the fall and being outdoors every weekend! I just had my second fill yesterday. After the full I asked how much he gave me and he said .5 I was like WHAT??? I'm always starving!!! He said cause in losing weight he didn't want to put a lot in. I told him I'm weighing and measuring my food but I can eat more than a plateful of food and still wanna eat lol he then realized I wasn't letting him off the hook and he gave me another cc. I feel great my surgery was on 8/11 and I'm now down 30lbs. But I plan my meals and keep only healthy things in the house to snack on. I also found a new love, Zumba. Lots of fun! I'm good, not all the time, make good choices-not all the time, try and go to the gym at least 3 x's a week.. Not all the time. Learning to live a healthy and happy life WITH the band. Wishing everyone health and happiness!!! :-) Cara

You know you're a bandster when.....

When your 3 year old mimics you at dinner saying "it's not going down, it's getting stuck" Do I really sound like that?? LOL -
I want to get back the Gym. Can you help?
ctarantino replied to Miller.ted's topic in Fitness & Exercise
While a 25 year old will heal different from a 50 year old I feel we all know our bodies and what they can and can't do. I was in the gym doing treadmill and elliptical workouts within a week. I tried at 3 weeks to take a step class felt fine but then we moved to abs, i didnt feel comfortable with that and left. Okay so I waited 2 more weeks and was fine. Stick with cardio and work up your intensity and time. Your not even a month out but certainly walking either in a gym, at home, or around your neighborhood reeps benefits and the point of all this is to be healthy. If you feel "gym ready" go for it! Be safe and have fun -
I've been a member at a few gyms, always on/off. I joined Lucille Roberts when I started considering lap band. I love the classes and they push me and keep me in check. I have been to places like synergy and ballys, I don't feel intimidated at LR and have been making "gym friends" who keep me at the gym now. For me, I can't exercise at home my kids are 3 and 1 year old, I make a step and they are there lol I am going to the gym today and drop the kiddies at the babysitting in the gym good luck and I know some banders ( my cousin and neighbor) who don't gym and I say great and lucky for you but for me... It's a must to lose weight!

Same here! I love educating myself on these boards about life with the band-the ups and down, food, nutrition, and of course GREAT support! :-)

Very hard decision in very little time!!!
ctarantino replied to Myzz_Courtney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry that you had to go through all this pain and suffering. Reading what you wrote it must be really hard to look forward but I agree, if there are so many complications in 14 months, I would have it removed. For whatever reason you body is not liking your band. You lost 50lbs how much more do you want to lose? Can you weigh and measure your food and exercise and lose the rest, we'll support you! good luck and let us know what you decide -
Lunch Ideas Needed After Lap Band Surgery ?
ctarantino replied to JinTx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't do wraps either, most carby stuff won't go down without getting stuck. I take to work Morningstar veggie burger or Morningstar turkey griller, I usually have chobani Greek yogurt with it. Homemade chili, salad with chicken, meatloaf muffins, or mushroom pizza -
BEST tasting protein shake?
ctarantino replied to Allisonmscott86's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So funny how taste is subjective. I look forward to my isopure shake every morning. I switch it up between the vanilla isopure, jay Robb chocolate, EAS, or muscle milk. Like all and add a packet of Splenda , Ice and blend sooo yummy! -
Anyone from the Bronx or White plains NY

Hello! I'm on Long Island but understand how you feel. I have had one fill and know its not enough, going for second fill on Friday. I have never regretted my band, I'm sorry you are having regrets. I've realized though the band is a tool. Yes we have all heard that before but you have to diet and exercise and use the band to guide you. I changed what I eat since being banded I pack my lunch every day! I go to the gym, I try for 3 x's per week. It's hard, not easy, but I have lost 30lbs since being banded on 8/11/11 I'm not done losing and pushing myself to keep losing. I hope to be in onederland in a week or 2! My day is usually muscle milk or protein shake for bfast. Lunch is usually Morningstar turkey griller and chobani yogurt, dinner some sort of protein veg and maybe carb. I'm not always good, I treat myself when I want, and like a glass of wine occasionally. Good luck and don't regret anything! Use it to guide you and it will help you more than you know! Message me if you need a buddy or wanna chat!
