    Aceves Patients: Surgery Schduling...

I called in December for a Jan date and the only thing that slowed me down was getting my passport and loan money. They told me they could get me in earlier than I asked for. Good Luck
  3. Jane thanks for leaving the comment, Wow, how amazing have you been at working the sleeve. Thanks for everything you do for the people who have questions about WLS.

    Surgery Secrecy

I live in a small town and play in a local country band, so people have seen the weight fall off so quickly there was no way I could have told them anything but the truth. So far I have not heard of any bad comments being made about my WLS. I tell anyone that wants to know because I feel that the sleeve has worked great for me and is helping to save my life. I've had to explain VSG to them because most of them have heard about Lapband and other forms of WLS but not the sleeve. I've actually had more people make bad comments about me going to Mexico to have surgery than the surgery itself. Once I explain to them the reasons why I went to Mexico and the care I received there and the fact that I would go back again in a heartbeat, then comments stop or they don't say them to me. I have been surprized how well the story of my WLS goes over with people. Good Luck,
  6. Chancie, I agree fully, I am not ashamed that I had surgery and have told everyone who has asked about my WLS. Most people in the small town I live in have seen me struggle over the years with weightloss and regain. It was time for some type of WLS.

You have done a great job working the sleeve and providing support to all of us who have followed in yours and others footsteps.

    Thanks for all you do.

    Gary

  7. Thoughts and prayers to you.

    Regrets?

No way, :tongue_smilie: I thought a few times during the first two months about the fact that I cannot go and eat everything on the buffet, but that is what got me to 363 pounds in the first place. I learned the proper way to eat and too enjoy the taste of the food instead of the stuffing of it. Love the sleeve and love watching the weight go away. Good luck on your journey.
  12. Deedee, After reading your post, I too am sorry for what you and your husband are going through. That being said I cannot tell you how great it is to read that you guys are going to give a child with no parents, two loving parents. I spent 16 years in law enforcement and have seen to many times the results of parents who don't care what happens to their children. I understand that this is not the only reason people put children up, but it is one of them. It is great there are people like you and your husband that really want children there to give kids a chance. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.
  13. Thanks for leaving the comment, I'm sure it will work for you just as it has for me.

    Good luck on your journey.

    Pcm !!!!!

When I went to the doctor for the first time after having surgery in Mexico I told them everything and they just coded everything so my insurance would cover it and they would also be covered. It was time for me to have a yearly physical anyway and I needed test done for that. They are doctors out there that will work with you. Good luck, Gary
  15. Julie, I only averaged 15 pounds a month after the first big loss and I had a lot of weight to lose. It will happen and it will off before you know it. Keep working the sleeve Gary

    Sleeved for 5 hours now!

I just had a little more pain and most of it could have been from the gas and bloated feeling. They will help you everyway they can with what ever meds you need. Just let the doctor or nurse know. I did not have any nausea.

    Sleeved for 5 hours now!

Congrats on your surgery. I would agree with Dr. Aceves, my second day was not to fun but they told me I would feel better the third day and I did. So if you don't feel to good tomorrow don't let it get you down. Welcome to the losers bench.
  21. Congrats on your surgery and welcome to the losers bench.
  22. I started at a BMI of around 50 and currently at 31 and I have a 36. Good luck. Gary
  23. Thanks, it has really made a difference in my life.

  24. I too started by looking into Lapband until I heard about VSG. I was a selfpay and was looking at the same price you listed for the band. After reading post on this site I decided on VSG, went to Mexico and have never looked back. After reading the problems some people were having with the band and seeing the lack of results two of my friends have had from their bands helped me decide. I was sleeved on January 25, 2010 and as of today I have lost 134 pounds. Keyspriate was sleeved on the same day by the same doctor and she has lost around 95 pounds. So it does work. Good luck on your journey. Gary
