    Observations...5 Days Out

Hey Carol, Glad to hear you guys made it home okay. Our trip home was a nightmare. I'm with on the no hunger pains. Gary
  2. Well here we go, I'm waiting at the Dallas Airport for my flight to San Diego and then the ride to Mexicali. Surgery is tomorrow morning with Dr. Aceves. I would like to thank everyone on this forum for your stories. They have helped me get to this point and I know they will help me in the weeks and months to come. Please say a prayer for me, surgery is surgery. Thanks,
  3. Stacy160, I know what you mean . I'm flying to San Diego Sunday for surgery Monday and I cannot wait. I know my family and close friends are getting tired of hearing me talk about it. I wake up in the mornings prior to my alarm clock going off and can't go back to sleep. I read everything I can find about it (good and bad). Ready to get this show on the road.

I am 64 and have lost 100 pounds

Suzanne, Thanks for posting this, I leave this Sunday to have surgery with Dr. Aceves on Monday. Can't wait to get this new lifestyle started.
  5. Hey Carol, :frown1: You know they couldn't scare an Arkansas guy off, yeah I will be there hook, line and sinker. I went ahead and started the Low-Carb diet early just to help get a few extra pounds off prior to the surgery. I'm a pretty big guy and just thought it would help. It is crazy the difference in the diets though. My Brother is going to be traveling with me. My family went crazy about me going by myself so he decided to go. Oh well. LOL Can't wait to get there... See you there.

    What about Herbalife shake mixes?

    Thanks Tiff, I'll keep looking.
  7. Is it okay to use Herbalife shake mixes and Protein powders. I used them to lose wait a couple of years ago and like the taste. Just wanted to know if these are okay to use after VSG or should I look for a different type? Thanks,
  8. Hey AmyJ, Lets go down there and get this done!!!!!:001_wub:!!!!!!! I'll be in recovery when you come in, surgery set for the 25th. Glad you have a husband that is behind you all the way. Congrats...
  9. Thanks for all the support from everyone, wish it was tomorrow.
  10. Hello, After reading post on this site and others and talking to a very nice lady in my hometown who used Dr. Aceves two and a half years ago for Lap-Band Surgery, I booked my VSG surgery with him for 1-25-10. I will fly in to CA on Sunday 1-24. (Unless something goes wrong) Anybody else going to be there then? Anyone got anything to say about Dr. Aceves? I have read a lot of good things about him and his staff, but it never hurts to hear more. Looking forward too starting this life changing experience. If you going to be at the airport on the 24th, I will not be hard to spot, big, old, grey headed guy talking funny. Yeah I know, but a guy from Arkansas in a CA airport, they will think I talk funny. LOL, been there and done that. Thanks,
  11. Hey Carol, Sounds good to me, we will have to ask them, LOL. Monica is who I am dealing with also. Look forward to meeting you. Thanks,
  12. Thank you very much Barbara278, I wish you all the luck with your VSG surgery too. I am so ready for this. I went through a year of trying to get my insurance company to pay for Lapband Surgery and maybe them not paying for it was a blessing. I started looking at these sites and was able to learn about the VSG Surgery and the more I read the more I wanted to go this route instead. Since I'm having to pay for it myself I would rather just have one surgery and not have to worry about problems with the band. I know several people who have the lapband and not experienced any problems, but I don't want to take the chance. Please keep me posted on how everything goes with your surgery. Let me know if I need to carry a big stick with me. LOL Hope you have a great New Year. Thanks,
  13. Thanks Norma and youknowit. But wait a minute youknowit, I am not scared of the surgery, but being around a group of women, now that scares me. LOL Norma, it never seems to fail, when I was driving a 18 wheeler and would go MA, CA, CO, MN, they wanted to make fun of the way I talk, even having me repeat words and then laugh. As well as said other bad things about us Arkansas boys, but I always thought it was them that talked funny. I do plan to wear shoes when I travel, if I can just remember where I put them. No really, I looking forward to meeting and sharing stories with people who are going through the same process I am. People just don't understand unless they have been in our shoes. Hope to meet you soon youknowit. Thanks,
  14. Thank Tiff, I have read several of the post you have made and noticed you are a big help to people going through this. Thank you for all of your support to the people on this forum.
  15. Hello Everyone, What I need help with is knowing how you felt the day you left the Hospital. I am scheduled to have surgery 01-25-10 with Dr. Aceves and trying to decide if I should fly or drive. It is a 1500 mile trip one way from my home. If I fly I will go alone due to the extra cost for airfare. If we drive we can make the trip for the cost of one person flying. I have not asked the Dr. office yet, just wanted to get feed back from some of you. Thanks for any help you can provide.
  16. I am fine with going by myself after reading the post on this forum and others but my family is pushing for me to have someone go. I would rather fly and not go through the two day drive both ways. Thank you very much for responding.
  17. I think I will go by myself, stopping every hour would make for a long 1500 mile trip. Thanks for responding.
