I'm horrified just reading this. Prayers!

I had to give myself Heparin shots for 14 days following surgery - 3 times a day. When I learned it was to prevent blood clots, I did what I was told. I had a young friend (age 45) recently pass away from a blood clot that traveled to her lungs ... she was very fit and just complained of a pain in her ankle.

I definitely did about a teaspoon about 3-4 weeks out. Reduced fat and creamy only.

What was your weight lose @ 2 months out?
Addy replied to jenniferedmon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 15 lbs prior to surgery. Sleeved 11/30 - I'm 6 weeks out & down 30 lbs for a total of 45 lbs since I stepped foot in my doctor's office. -
I'm six weeks out and have been sampling ALMOST everything, except breads, rices (all pastas in general), nuts and deserts. I'm learning that my sleeve is going to be my big brother for the rest of my life...I will be eating healthier and my big brother will make sure I don't over do it. My husband LOVES food (of course he's in great shape), but he's been so concerned about eating in front of me that HE actually goes into another room to eat something I would love. When I look at myself in the mirror after these 6 weeks and see such a dramatic change in my features already, my desire to follow the plan takes over. Hang in there, be strong and think of all you've gone through already - are the juices of one bite of pizza worth all that?

I was sleeved on 11/30/10 too. I was on liquids for the 1st week after surgery. The next 2 weeks I'm on pureed-consistency..my Magic Bullet is getting a workout - cottage cheese takes on a new meaning when it's been pureed! 1/2 egg white, applesauce, sugar-free pudding, pureed green Beans. Nut also suggested pureed tuna, chicken or fish but I'm scared. Had 1Tbs pureed chicken last night & scared out of my mind that it would get stuck, but all good.l At least I'm getting some variety from broth.

Surgery Scheduled: December 1!
Addy replied to 2Fluffy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery is scheduled Tues, Nov 30th. I started my liquid diet on Monday - almost a week ago. My husband and mom can't believe I'm on liquids during Thanksgiving! But after doing this for the past week, I should be good during the holiday. The first 3 days were the worst, but I feel like I'm on auto-pilot now with liquids, trying to get it all in. I've lost 5 lbs this past week already (I know, it's just water weight) and should feel even better the day of surgery. I just hope my liver shrinks as best as possible - I have a long way to go! -
I'm trying the same thing with a tea. Two weeks to go til surgery & starting the liquid diet! Thanksgiving will be interesting!

I'm right behind you, CydChicago - scheduled Nov 30th. Great luck to you! I'm in the Chicagoland area as well

I'm 3 weeks out from surgery and my doctor has advised me of a 2 week, 800-1000 calorie liquid diet. I think I'm going to start this week a bit ... hopefully my recovery from surgery will be easier. They're the experts, not me.

It seems to have taken me so long to get where I'm at in this process of self-discovery and improvement. From my first date meeting my doctor in May 2010, then on to the nutritionist, exercise physiologist, weigh-ins and my insurance approval in October 2010, this experience has been eye-opening. It took me months to go to my first appointment in May, finally admitting I need help. By posting this, I feel like I've exposed my achilles' heel to the world - my greatest weakness and failure of trying to do something on my own...lose weight, when my siblings don't have this problem. Why me? Perhaps it's a question which will never be answered. All I can say is "it's time for me to take care of myself"! Since I have a confirmed surgery date (11/30/10), I'm beginning to look forward to my new future.

November 30th! Should be an interesting Thanksgiving holiday - family doesn't know about the surgery yet!

Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm hoping my 2 weeks prior to surgery go by quickly. I'll be fasting right during Thanksgiving, so if I can handle that, surgery will be simple!
