    food tastes weird

Same thing happened to me... I think it's from being on a liquid diet for so long. You'll adjust back :-)

    ?m obsessed with food..

Yep that's a good one too... My surgery was august 2nd.
  3. I was lucky and actually didn't have any nausea. Maybe you'll be lucky too! I struggled for the first week with getting my Protein in as well. The shakes were too think for me to drink but that's because I had so much swelling I couldn't swallow anything... :-/ my doctor told me not to stress over it and just get in as much as I could. Now that I'm on real food I never drink them. I get plenty of protein from my food. My gas pains were pretty intense... The best thing that worked for me besides walking was a heating pad. It was my saving grace. So if you don't have one of those, I'd invest in one. They're around 15 bucks at walmart. Popsicles really helped get my Fluid intake up as well. Also, take a pillow with you to the hospital for the ride home. It helps to have something to press up against your tummy. Those bumps are killer. Good luck! You'll do great!

    ?m obsessed with food..

Awesome job! I too was/am obsessed with food. You will continue to learn how to have more self control. For me it's a constant battle but it's so much easier with the band. I finally feel like I have a tool to help me and I will be successful this time. I've lost 40 lbs(20 pre and 20 since surgery) and I know I will never see those 40 lbs again. I now have hope. Good for you! Keep it up. It will be so worth. I read somewhere a quote that said "dont give in to something you want today that will compromise something you want for the future" and I always think about yay when I want to cheat or overeat. I want to be healthy and skinny more than I want that second helping or that cookie. :-)
  5. Sounds like you have the right idea to me. Im 6 weeks out and although I have good restriction(1-1 1/2 cup per meal every 4-5 hours) I'm losing weight very slowly. I think I'll get a fill when I can(was suppose to be on the 22nd but that will have to be pushed back because of a port infection and my tube popping out of my incision) but after my first fill, I think I'll be in my green zone for a while. Good for you! Consider yourself blessed! Most people have no restriction for quite some time. Also, enjoy your vacation!

    question??

I burp all the time. I asked my surgeon about it and he said that it's really common. It's different though from when I first had surgery. I use to have this sensation like I had to burp but then it would never happen. Now, I can actually burp... And do all the time- when I'm hungry, after I take a drink, after I eat... It's actually my "full" signal. When i burp when eating I know it's time to stop eating.

    Port dislocation

Thanks everyone for your prayers! Tonight actually turned out way better than I expected. My port is still intact. It was actually my tubing that had popped through my incision. So I met my surgeon at the ER and she just stuck it back inside and stitched me right up. I did still have an infection in my incision but I'm on a second round of antibiotics and hopefully that will clear it up. If not than they may have to relocated my port at a different time but that's okay. Hopefully that won't happen though. On a side note, I had morphine for the first time ever tonight... Haha that was fun! Thanks again everyone. I'm feeling much better now that I don't have 2 inches of tubing sticking out. :-)
  8. I think it's a combination of the gas and the feeling of the band. I had that same feeling. Gas-x didn't do a thing for me, but everyone is different... You can try it. Also, I had to cut our the protein shakes once I moved on to the mushie phase... They just gave me so much gas. You'll feel better soon though. It took me a good week to get rid of the gas pains.

    Port dislocation

Welp my incision just opened and my port is exposed. Just called my surgeon's on call number and am waiting for a call back. Probably will be heading to the ER soon. Ugh... I'm so not looking forward to go through this again. I'll keep you posted. How did your infection clear up?

    swelling is a seroma

I developed an infection on my port site which then turned into a seroma... Which now has caused my port to flip :-( I'm worried about having to have surgery again because it was rough for me the first go around. Did your seroma get better all on it's own?

    Swelling over port incision

I developed a An infection from my port, which then led to a seroma which has now led to a port flip. :-( I go in tomorrow to have my surgeon take a look at it. I'll probably need another surgery to fix it. I'm not too thrilled about this but I know it will all be worth it one day.
  12. Good job! I'm so glad there's not a pat and oscar's in Phoenix any more. I wouldnt be able to pass it up! Everytime my husband and I go to San Diego(pre-band) I always want to go eat at pat and oscar's and have their amazing breadsticks. Love that place... anyway... Haha I'm proud of you!
  13. People asked menprior to surgery if I was worried about the excess skin. Just like what the other two posters said, I'd rather be healthy with a little flabby skin(which you won't even notice in clothes probably) than weigh over 300 lbs and deal with all the issues that come with being obese. I plan on probably getting a breast lift and a tummy tuck one day (after having babies) but I'm more focused on getting healthy now. Plus, with the lap band most people lose weight slower than gastric bypass or other weight loss surgeries so for some people it's not that much of an issue.

    It's all happening so fast!!!

My hospital still hasn't billed me for my 10% and I'm nearly 6 weeks out. Just make sure with the secretary that you don't have to pay your 10% up front. Good luck with everything!
  15. Greek yogurt has a good amount of protein too. You could try that.
  16. So, I've been have some burning and stinging feelings around my port area for the past few days but kinda shrugged it off as typical post op port pain(I'm almost 6 weeks post op). But then tonight I was touching my port area and felt this hard lump sticking out from my incision. I checked it out and I can see the white of the port really sticking out and it appears to me that more port has at least detached partially. The skin hasn't broken... But my skin there is super thin. I'm hoping it doesn't pop through the skin before I see my surgeon on Monday. I called my surgeon tonight and he wants to see me first thing Monday. Anyway, my question is have any of you had this problem or heard of this problem? Is it somewhat common? To repair it will I need another surgery? It's somewhat painful so I'm assuming it can't just stay like this. Thanks for your input. I'm a little concerned about this.
  17. My first time eating out was stressful. I don't have a fill yet, but I definitely eat way less that I use to. I had grilled chicken and veggies off the kids menu. It was yummy!
  18. Sounds like port pain tod maybe. If I do too much my port burns and pinches. This weeks it has really been bothering me.
  19. I lost 17 lbs but have gained back about 3-4. I'm almost 6 weeks out. My first fill is on the 22nd.
  20. I have the exact same story ad you pretty much. I lost 20 lbs before surgery and 19 since. All of that in the first 3 weeks. Im now almost to week 6 and I haven't lost anything in the last 2 1/2 weeks. I'm trying not to get discouraged though. I eat under 1200 calories a day and I've been exercising but nothing. I just keep telling myself that my body is adjusting and healing still and it will start to come off again. I'm eating about 85 grams of protein a day and drinking 1-1/2 gallons of water. I get my first fill in 2 weeks. I'm not starving between meals but I know I could use the fill.
  21. I haven't used my card... I just say "can I please order off the kids menu? I recently had surgery and can't eat much" and it's always worked. You could try that.

    Advice please..Supervised Diet

I can tell you what I would do. If I were you, I would try to make good eating choices to avoid gaining weight, but I wouldn't go on a diet in fear of losing too much weight. I, like you and many other on this site, have been successful with losing weight... But I've always gained it back plus some. I'm new on this journey, but I know i will never gain back the 40 I have lost because of this lap band. Don't give up :-)
  23. I had no pre op diet other than the obvious "nothing to eat or drink after midnight" and my surgery went great. You will definitely be empty if your on a 2 week liquid diet. :-)
  24. You exercise 3 times a day??? I'm impressed! I told my husband, obviously, my immediate family, his immediate family and my close friends. My mother in law was my biggest fan and was beyond excited so she took the liberty to tell everyone. And I mean everyone. At first, I was a little uncomfortable with it just because I'm insecure about my weight, understandably, and don't like any sort of attention drawn to it. But then I just learned to embrace it, I guess. I don't mind telling people really... I mean, I'm not shouting it from my rooftop but if someone asks how I've lost weight I tell them "I eat under 1200 calories a day, work out 5 times a week and 5 weeks ago I had lapband surgery that helps me be satisfied on smaller amounts of food". Everyone I've mentioned it to has been excited for me. Only one person told me before surgery that I was crazy. And he only said that because he's scared of surgery and would never elect to have anything done. He's also about 5'8" and probably weighs 145. He has no idea what it's like to live in a body like mine. I wasn't offended... With all that said, it's completely a personal decision. I understand not wanting to tell others.
  25. My weight loss has stalled too for the past two weeks. It frustrating. I did start my period a few days ago so hopefully when it's gone my weight will continue dropping. My first fill is on the 22nd... Can't wait!
