    pain collar bone/neck area

Walking, heating pad and, unfortunately, time will help. Seriously... The hearing pad saved me. It gave me enough relief to allow myself to fall asleep. Hope you feel better soon!

Should I go or not go ??

There's no way I could have. It took me a solid week to feel good. Even then stuff wore me out. Hopefully you don't have the same experience. Everyone is totally different.

    need some direction

The timeline is all dependent on what your insurance requires. You can call you insurance and see if they have a supervised diet requirement. My insurance required a 3 month supervised diet. My first consultation with my dr was march 28th. And my surgery was august 2nd... So about 4 months total.

    mucus and coughing at night

My doctor says night coughing is due to your band being too tight. Sounds like you need a little flui taken out.
  5. That really sucks. I'm sorry. I hope in the next couple of days it clears up. I'll be praying for you. I've told my husband that if I have to have my band removed that I probably wouldn't get a second one because I don't want to go through that pain ever again. But I bet I would. Just because this is the first time I've lost this much weight and I know I'll never see it again. I'm really sorry you're going through all of this. Keep me posted! I'll keep you in my prayers.
  6. I was so obsessed with trying to get in as much fluid as possible. I actually had so much post op swelling that I couldnt even swallow my own spit. When I called my surgeon he told me not to stress... That I had so much fluids through my IV during surgery that I would dehydrate that soon. After he took out all my fluid I could swallow again. Just try to sip constantly and you'll be fine. The first few days are hard to get anything down. Also, sugar free Popsicles really help get fluid in.

    antibiotics question

I take capsules all the time. The day of my surgery in post op they had me take my pain meds in capsule form. I'm currently on levofloxacin (prescribed by my lapband surgeon) and they're huge! I just split them in two and I'm fine. I'm also allergic to pennicillin..
  8. I was told 4 weeks for exercise... But to start walking the day after surgery and go farther and longer everyday. I'm almost 2 months out with no fill. Everyone is different. Id say most people get one around 6 weeks though. I just have restriction and am losing about 3 lbs a week so my doctor said no fill for me :-)
  9. Hi. This happened to me as well. Then it became difficult for me to swallow anything. Did your surgeon put fluid in the band when he placed it? my surgeon left 2 cc's in my band during surgery and I had so much post op swelling that I couldn't swallow. I went in the next day and he took the fluid out and I was immediately better. Sounds like you need to call your surgeon.

    LAPBANDERS LIE

I understand what you mean. I was told "most people are back to normal in just a few short days... You'll be fine with just Tylenol after surgery". Uhhh not the case for me. And I have one of the tops doctors in the nation. He's great. Love him. But I was definitely not expecting the pain I had. It took me 8 days for the gas to go away. It was hell but so worth it. 7 weeks post op- down 20 lbs since surgery, down 2 pants sizes and my wedding ring is off getting resized- dropped 1 and 1/2 sizes! My doctor does the single incision too. Which is really two incisions. Your port is probably by the larger incision. My port is above my belly button about 2 inches and to the left a little. You'll feel better soon. Promise :-)
  11. I feel everything go down. You feel it especially in the beginning while you're still swollen. And then when you have restriction you feel stuff pass trough your band. I would say with you being only a week post op, you should not worry about the full feeling and just try to get as much fluids in as possible. I know how you feel. I didn't want to eat or drink anything either for a while after surgery. Just try to sip on something all day. My doctor wants us drinking as close to 2 gallons oddities a day. Obviously I didn't come anywhere close to that after surgery... But it made me push myself to drink something even if I didn't want to. Also, sugar free Popsicles are a great way to get in fluids when you don't feel like drinking.

    Crazy Burping

I'm 7 weeks out and I still burp constantly.
  13. I have that video and it kills me!!! I shally give up 12 minutes in haha... And I still get the waddles.
  14. Mine was mostly gone at my 10 day follow up appointment.. So mine probably started peeling around the same time. Just try not to pick at it. I'm a picker so it was hard for me :-) how are you feeling??
  15. I'm so jealous! haha... I know the feeling though... When I first started this journey I was squeeeeeezing into my 24s. Then a few weeks ago I noticed that m 24s were getting a little big... so I thought :Hmm... wonder if I can fit into a 22 yet?" Once I tried them on I'm comfortably in a 20! Love that! Can't wait til my pant size begins with a 1! My shirts are a 14/16 now too... losing weight is fun :-) Congrats!

    What portions do you eat?

I'm the same. I don't measure my food out... I just know to keep my portions under a cup and 1/2 of food per meal. I just eyeball it.

    I need help getting started

First, call your insurance and see if lap band surgery is covered. 2nd, research surgeons in your area and when you find one you believe is credible, make an appointment with his office for a consultation. Then the office should help you from there. That's exactly what I did :-) Hope that helps! And congrats on a new beginning!

    What portions do you eat?

My doctor says 1-1 1/2 cups of food per meal. The first 1/2 cup should be protein, the second 1/2 cup veggies and if I'm still hungry I can have a 1/2 cup of carbs. He said the band measures volume and not weight so that's why he does cups.

    girls question

I had my period a couple weeks after surgery and I was on birth control too.
  20. I burp constantly. I asked my doctor about it and he said "welcome to life with a band!". It's reaaaaally common. It feels good to burp... But sometimes I make myself burp so much that I get nauseated haha... Try not to do that :-) ps. This is a née "talent" of mine as well. Before banded I rarely burped... And I certainly couldn't make myself burp.
  21. I'm 7 weeks out and still have discomfort when I sit straight up or bend over too fast... I try to sit back when I feel the pain... Also my pants hit a couple inches below my port so when I'm sitting my pants somewhat push on my port which is annoying and sometimes painful... You'll learn to adjust your movements around the port. I know I have. Still learning :-) And yes, I did feel better after about 8 days... And then when I would overdo it, thinking I was back to my old self, I would get pain.... I think that's maybe normal.

    Port Incision Infected....

Call your doctor. He should have an on call number where you can leave a message. I have been dealing with an infected port for over a month now and it can get a lot worse if you don't take care of it now... I'm not trying to scare you, but I had a second surgery last weekend because of port issues which all started with a little infection. I'm not saying that's going to happen to you too... Just call your surgeon asap and he'll give you an antibiotic. Hope you feel better soon!

    65 hours post op

I, too, was a slow healer. I thought it would be quick for me since I'm young(25) and healthy... But oh no. When I woke up on day 8 the gas pain was finally gone. :-/ Sounds like you're doing great! You'll definitely feel normal before you know it.
  24. Wow... Good to know, thanks. I take ibuprofen very occasionally.... Maybe once a week... But still. I'm going to bring it up with my surgeon when I see him this week. Thanks again!
