Baked (NOT fried!) mozzarella sticks
BaileyRose replied to kittyforet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Her 200 under 200 book is great. Again, I don't know how band friendly it is though... I guess we'll see! I have it and thought it would be a great idea after I'm banded because the portion sizes are fairly small and it's low in calorie. Enjoy! -

You can also make your breading out of the original fiber 1 cereal... Just crush it in a food processor. It's waaaay healthier that way. Good luck! Sounds yummy. -
How much do you eat in one sitting?
BaileyRose posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im getting my lap band in a couple of weeks. I've gone through the whole process and my surgeon and nutritionist both say I should eventually be eating 1-1 1/2 cups of food per meal, three times a day. But now I'm laying here in bed reading my lap band informational booklet and it says "the lap band creates a small stomach pouch that can hold only about 1/4 cup of food. If you try to eat more than this at one time, you may become nauseated. You may also vomit. If you routinely eat too much, the small stomach pouch may stretch". So what is it? 1-1 1/2 cups of food or 1/4 cup? -
Can I lose 40lbs by November ???
BaileyRose replied to LookatmeNow34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say set the goal! And if you don't make it, you'll come a lot closer than you would had you not set a goal! I think you can do it. Especially if you exercise. Good luck! -
Crying because I'm going to get skinny... What???
BaileyRose posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery will be in about 3 weeks from now. I had my last meeting with my surgeon yesterday and it's like it finally hit me. The whole time ive been so excited... Don't get me wrong, I still am... It's just that it's always felt so far away. And now it seems so real! My new life will be here before I know it! How exciting. But also emotional. Last night I was laying in bed with my husband and thinking about what my new, healthy life will be like. But then I starting thinking about my body and how it will change. And for some reason I got emotional. This is the body I've always had. This is the body my husband fell in love with. And this won't be my body anymore(after some time and hard work, of course). And trust me, I'm thankful to trade it in for a new, skinny, healthy, shiny one... But for some reason, there are going to be parts of this body I think I may miss. Did anyone else go through something like this? -
Pre surgery (insurance required diet)
BaileyRose replied to Lisa75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pretty sure you don't actually have to lose weight on the insurance required pre-op diet. I lost a total of 4 pounds on my 3 month "diet". One visit i lost only a pound and my doctor was like, "good job! What did you change about your eating this month?" and i thought "uhhhh nothing." haha i said to him "well, its just a pound. I wouldnt reallyday thats a job well done." and he said that it doesn't matter really if i lose any. It just shows my insurance company that im making some effort. Now that my surgery is in a couple weeks I'm on my official pre-op diet required by my surgeon and I've been on it for 5 days and I've lost 5 lbs already. -
tighter band 2months since fill
BaileyRose replied to tannie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How fun! I went to college at Oklahoma Wesleyan university in Bartlesville so I know that place well too :-) lots of memories there. good to meet you too! Hope you start to feeling better! -
I couldn't agree any more with what you're saying. I'm a hair stylist for Paul Mitchell and I'm so concerned about losing my hair. Not to sound shallow and completely ridiculous.... But this is my most major concern! I know it will happen and thankfully I've got the hook-up so if I need some extensions I can take care of it haha... But you're right though, obviously I would choose baldness and good health than luscious hair and poor health. Anyway, good luck! Here's to hoping for no hair loss AND good health!!

85 lbs in 1 year??

My doctor and nutritionist has me on low carn/high protein. I drink a protein shake for breakfast, one for lunch and then a lean, high protein dinner with at least one cup of veggies for dinner.... Minimum butter and salt. Last night I fix have about 1/4th of a cup of whole grain rice with my dinner... But honestly, when I take a bite of something super carby I just ask myself "is it worth it?" and most of the time it isn't. I've been doing this a little over a week and honestly, the cravings are mostly done with. The first three days are the hardest. If you can get through those with no cabs you'll do great! I've lost 9 lbs in a week... You can do it!!

Fills at my dr's office are $150.... That HAS to be a mistake! Maybe he added an extra zero....? Still $375 is pricey.

What info should I bring for my first consult
BaileyRose replied to capawana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in to my consult with Theo pieces of paper full of questions. I also printed off my insurance policy stating that it does cover weight loss surgery... But the office didn't need that. I like the bug meal idea! I should have done that. Instead I went hungry so every appointment after that I had to go without eating breakfast because i wanted to make sure I didn't gain any! Haha -
Vitamin D deficiency anyone???
BaileyRose replied to sms1964's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of overweight people are vitamin D deficient. Vitamin D is absorbed through fat cells so The more fat cells you have the more it's absorbed too soon before it is allowed to process through your body. This is what my doctor told me at least :-) I'm vitamin D deficient as well. -

85 lbs in 1 year??
BaileyRose replied to BaileyRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys! You're awesome! My surgery is in a couple weeks and so far, I've lost 21 lbs pre-op. Even though I feel and look exactly the same haha it's still nice to see that number go down :-) I plan on working very hard because at the end of my weightless will hopefully be a new baby :-) -
Protein shakes forever?
BaileyRose replied to DarleneRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unjury has a chicken broth soup with 20 or 21 grams of protein in it. And it's really good! -

Crying because I'm going to get skinny... What???
BaileyRose replied to BaileyRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hahaha I think that's what I'm going to miss the most! I think I may just be a little overwhelmed and emotional lately because I'm FINALLY at the point in my pre-op process where I can see the finish line! It's all so close. And it's true, I've always been overweight so this is the only way I know myself. And this is the only Bailey my husband knows me as. But I'm excited about the new me! I'm looking forward to the hard work and the new body. And it's time to finally look like the skinny me I know that's inside here somewhere! Thanks for your encouragement everyone! You're awesome! -
I googled the price of tummy tucks just so I had an idea of what I should be saving and I found a site that said the average TT is $3,700-$6,500. I'm sure that doesn't cover all the little extras like testing and such they add in... But insurance should cover that, right?

My current weight is 289. My first goal weight is 249. Then 199. Then 169. My doctor told me he'd like to see me around 170..... But for a healthy BMI 140 is good. I have a long ways to go... But I haven't had my surgery yet, so we'll see!

This made me LOL..... Good point!
