Post Opt Follow up Band Size?

I have a size 14 cc band too. It's neither good or bad. It's just dependent on the size of your stomach. I was joking with my husband saying I must have a huge stomach because not only do I have the largest band, but I definitely have restriction without a fill. Oy vey. :-)

    Meal sizes, post-op

My doctor says you should be eating 1-1 1/2 cups of food per meal, 3 times a day. That meal should keep you full for 4-5 hours. I can't personally tell you what I eat because I'm still only in the soft food phase. I would think, though, if you're losing 2 lbs a week you're doing just fine! I say keep it up!

    Mushies, some examples

I had a baked potato from wendy's today and it was awesome. The best part? My lunch only costs a dollar! I definitely save money on food, that's for sure!

    No Hunger After Surgery

I'm 3 weeks post op and I get hungry but only about4-5 hours after a meal... When it's time to eat. At your stage I was never hungry.

    Psych Evaluation

My favorite question was "do you ever look in the mirror and the shape of your face changes before your eyes?" haha I thought "uhhhh no!"
  8. I wouldn't be afraid of taking your pain meds. That's what they're there for. Also, ibuprofen worked wonders on my gas pain. I understand how you're feeling. I was in tears as well. It gets better, I promise. Maybe you need to take another day or two off work. I was disappointed when I wasn't the person who bounced back in 2-3 days. It took me 7-8 days to feel good. Hope you feel better soon!
  9. My favorite recipe right now is homemade potato soup with unflavored protein powder mixed in. Im on the mushy phase so I don't blend the soup but for you, you could blend the soup or add more milk. Very yummy

    Sex after WLS

    Fun! When was your surgery?

    5 days post op

That's exactly how I felt... And my dr told me it was normal. I slept in my Wing back chair with pillow behind me, straight as a stick, for three nights. If I even pushed back in the recliner I felt like I couldn't breathe and someone was ripping my abs out. I'm a little dramatic... Haha... But I really did feel awful. My dr said some people just feel pain differently and stronger than others... Basically he called me a wimp :-) I felt better on day 8 when I woke up. You'll feel better soon. Good luck!

    Help

I know that feeling! When was your surgery? What food stage are you at? You can do it! Can you eat soups? Homemade soups really help me.
  13. Happy for you! I was banded on august 2nd and I think I may be one of the lucky ones that has restriction without a fill. Were you hungry when you were on liquids? I drink about 1-1 1/2 cups of liquid and then I'm "full" for 3-4 hrs. I'm suppose to start solids on Tuesday.

    When will I feel normal??

My story is exactly like chelsea's. I was banded on the 2nd and I feel pretty much normal other than port pain and still a little swelling. My gas pain is gone. That was awful and it took a solid week for that to go away.. Once that was gone I could handle more fluids. You're almost out of the worst part! Hang in there girls!

    Sex after WLS

My doctor said two weeks and I believe we waited 10 days. The next day my abs were sore beyond sore! I wanted nothing to do with sex though for at least 7-8 days.
  16. They gave me pills in the hospital the day of surgery. And my pain meds were pills, not liquid. I took them how Jen did.

When do you see the surgeon?

I don't want to sound negative, but if you don't see him much before surgery you can probably guarantee you won't see much of him after. And, to me, aftercare is the most important. Just something to think about...
  18. So I started soft foods yesterday. I had a slice of turkey deli meat and cheese melted in the microwave. I took TINY bites and chewed well... And I felt fine eating it... Taking time in between bites... All the right things. Well this morning I woke up with a pain innmy chest and it felt very tight. That feeling hasn't gone away all day. I've just been on clearfluids today hoping to get rid of this feeling. I have no hunger today either. The fluids go down it's just more difficult. I've had no vomiting. But I did take a nap on the couch and when i sat up it felt like little pieces of food were in my mouth... I'm guessing that means what I ate last night got stuck? Also, I've been CONSTANTLY burping all day. I burp all the time anyway, but this is seriously constant. Any advice on how to get rid of this? I'm only 3 weeks post op and I don't really want to throw up and risk a slip or else I would just make myself throw it up...
  19. BaileyRose

    Stuck?? Need advice.

I'm not on the mushy phase Anymore... Im suppose to be eating solids but starting with food that is softer. I think you're right though... I'll go back to mushies for now. And drink warm liquids.

When do you see the surgeon?

I met my surgeon on my first visit for a consultation. And saw him every appointment there after. I'd feel like you... Not very impressed or happy if I never saw him...

    About pain meds POST OP

Ibuprofen did wonders for me. If youre nervous about taking your prescription you could always try that and see how it works.
  22. The first fill is usually a lot. They have to fill up the band and also the tube that runs from your port to your band.
  23. Do you ever have days where your band is tighter than normal? It's weird, yesterday I felt very hungry and today... Nothing! I had a yogurt for Breakfast, three-four tiny bites of chicken salad for lunch and then a piece of turkey lunch meat with a slice of cheese for dinner and that's it. Maybe it's because I've transitioned to "soft" foods... Is it possible they just fill me up faster and keep me full longer? Even when I took my medicine tonight it feels kinda stuck. Not painful, just like it's sitting at my band and taking it's sweet little time to pass through. Is this common? I'm learning how to live life with a band and I must say, it's kinda fun. It's nice not to think about food all the time... My poor husband has been cooking for himself now and grocery shopping on his own because I forget to buy him food. Haha I'm 2 and 1/2 weeks out and 15 lbs(35 total with pre-op) and 2 pants sizes down! And this is only the beginning. I can't wait for the rest of my journey!
  24. I hope your right. My doctor told me at my check up the other day that I probably won't need a fill for a while because my band seems tighter than most people's. I'm excited about that... I hope it stays this way for a while. He put 2 cc's in at surgery but had to take it out 2 days later because if swelling. You're right, I do need to try and eat more. I know I definitely didn't get in enough Protein for the day or calories for that matter. Maybe I'll stick to the Protein shake in the morning. I'm like you... I usually don't get hungry til about 2 or 3.... I make myself eat something for breakfast. I'm glad your 3rd fill seems to be doing it's job!
  25. Hey Amy! How have you been? Hope all is well!
