  2. Today is my 46th birthday. Hard for me to wrap my head around being this old. I don't feel 46, but I am. Since my birthday is 6 days after Christmas and I received a very nice expensive camera for Christmas, I was not expecting anything for my birthday other than the camera case we had to buy separately. My loving husband surprised with me a gift card to go shopping to get clothes that fit me a bit better. (This is the NSV part) When I started out, I was wearing a size 28 pants. I have made it down to recently to size 18 but they are getting a bit loose on me so I wanted to try on a size 16 to see if they fit. I wasn't expecting much but I thought I would try it out. Well, the size 16 pants were to big for me, and I ended up buying 3 pair of pants in size 14 and 1 top that is a Large or just an X. Can't remember what it is. One of the new pants are a skinny fit and make my legs look quite skinny. I was pretty much shocked. There was a pair of pants in the store I really liked but they didn't have any in the size I needed. I told the clerk it is a completely new experience for me to not be able to buy something because it is to big for me. Talk about a head smack experience. Today has been a good day, so far. Friends and family coming over a little later for dinner and then watching the ball drop. I love my sleeve and my emerging new body. (I never thought I would ever say that) Sheila
  3. Today is my birthday, and I went shopping expecting to be able to squeeze into a size 16 pants. But I fould out that size 16 were to big and I was in a size 14. What a sweet birthday gift.

    Christmas Challenge!!!

Well, I missed my goal by 6 pounds. I have been in a stall for almost a month and I think over Christmas I have broke it because I have lost an additional 2 pounds since the 24th. I am not getting to excited about it yet until I see more movement, but if it holds up I am now in the 170's. At my morning weigh in I was 179.0. So I will set my next goal to be 159 by February 28. I know there is a Valentine's Challenge and I am sort of a part of it, but I always set my goals at 2 month intervals so I am 2 weeks behind the Valentine's challenge. Wish me luck and good luck to everyone else on their next challenge. Sheila
  5. How is everyone doing? I am excited and amazed. Since my last post, I have lost another 4 pounds. It is so hard for me to believe that I have lost so much weight. I was certain I would be the one person this surgery would not work for, just goes to show what can happen when you put your mind to it. Keep up the great work everyone.

    Christmas Challenge!!!

Hi, just wanted to give my update. I was going to do it yesterday, but I got busy and forgot. Starting weight: 193 Current weight: 184 Christmas goal weight: 173 Pounds to goal: 11 Fingers crossed I can make it. Good luck to everyone and their goals. Sheila
  7. I weighed this morning and my weight is 186lbs. I have lost 59 pounds since surgery and since the beginning of my journey 105 pounds. It is hard for me to believe I am now firmly in the 100's. Have not weight this much since I was 19 years old and I was pregnant at the time.

  8. At my initial consultation for surgery I weighed 291lbs. Today I am proud to announce I weigh 190lbs. Therefore I have lost 101lbs!!! I am very proud of the accomplishment I just achieved. I honest have a hard time believing I lost that much weight. I have about 40 to 45 more pounds to go to reach my ultimate goal and I hope to reach that by next spring. I will upload pictures a little later. YAY ME!!! Sheila

Halloween (Oct. 31) - What will you Weigh?

Hello everyone. Just got back from the Dominican Republic, was there for a week. Although I had already met my goal for the Halloween challenge, I thought I would update my weight. While away, I lost an additional 4 pounds, so my current weight is 193lbs. I bested the challenge by 6lbs. Wow!!! Congratulations to all who have met or exceeded their Halloween challenge, and for those who struggled, good luck on the next challenge. We will all do this together and have huge success. Sheila
  13. One of the reason I choose to have WLS was to help me gain control of my health issues. I had Type II diabetes, high cholesterol, bad joints in my knees and feet and so on. Well, after my blood work results, I am happy to report: I am no longer diabetic. I no longer have high cholesterol. My joints are feeling better although they still twinge every now and then. I am off my diabetic meds as well as the cholesterol meds. I am reducing the dosage of my synthroid meds. I only have 2 mandatory meds I have to take that are, HRT (female hormones due to a hysterectomy in 2002) and my synthroid. Yay! It is amazing what losing 94 pounds will do for your health. 45 pounds prior to surgery and 49 after surgery. Working on becoming as healthy as I can. Sheila

Halloween (Oct. 31) - What will you Weigh?

Checking in. I won't put all the stats in, but I will say, lost 4 more pounds since I last checked in and now my weight is 209lbs, which means I am 10 lbs to my Halloween goal. Can't believe it. Like everyone else when they are first sleeved, I was unsure what I was doing, if I liked what I had done to myself. Now I am learning to listen to my sleeve and I know when I am full. My dogs are extremely happy because they always get to help me finish off my plate. :0) I can now say I honestly love my sleeve, and I thank God for giving me this opportunity and blessing. Sheila

  24. Hi Ruby,

I am in the soft food stage. I eat alot of soft chicken, fish, thick soup, yogurt, cheese sticks. Pretty much what I want as long as it is soft. I don't seem to be able to tolerate untoasted bread, and I am staying away from pasta. It is what got me to needing the VSG in the first place. Any more questions, email me: sheila.pinkney@shaw.ca.
