what really gets me is when dr's do RNY on TEENS!! hello dont they realize the are young, growing, immature, etc... of course the teen/child will want a quick fix but risk losing a child or complications from such a drastic surgery-i dont think so. you would think they would only offer the band. i think RNY should only be done if you are super morbidly obese bmi over 50 (mine was 51.7 and i still chose the band) and everyone else should be given the band as their only chioce. i think the RNY doesnt make you accountable for your loss or food intake.

i love losing inches!!!!!

VERA!! your doing great!!! i bet your looking pretty darn sexy at -60 pounds!!! i follow the atkins diet  32 oz Water for breakfast- 1 scram egg with cheese 32 oz water lunch- 2-3 oz of meat (1/2 of a small-medium chicken breast, 3/4 of a burger no bun add tomatoe and lettuce, 1 pork tenderlion chop, mostly chicken though) and 1/4 -1/2 cup veggies asparagus, broccoli, salad greens, green Beans etc. any more water is a bonus! i used to do 96 oz but now 64 is my goal! dinner- same as lucnh! 2-3 oz of meat (1/2 of a small-medium chicken breast, 3/4 of a burger no bun add tomatoe and lettuce, 1 pork tenderlion chop, mostly chicken though) and 1/4 -1/2 cup veggies asparagus, broccoli, salad greens, green beans etc. today for lunch i have some ground chuck hamburger meat with taco seasoning, cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, sliced avacodo and ranch dressing. it is about 3/4 cup total. since it is a 'saucier' item i can eat about 3/4 cup. i choose to diet because i had alot to lose and want to get to 200 pounds or size 14 before i stop dieting. i chose the atkins because while i have to give up -fruits(except blueberries, rasberries and kiwi), juice, Pasta and bread i can still eat full fat ranch and cheese. i dont snack on cheese but i'll sprinkle a bit on my broccoli! its just easier for me to follow! hope this helps!

hey denise! well i have always been a chocolate / soda / carb junkie. i have committed to a COMPLETE lifestyle change! today i bought a diet coke and the promotion was ' buy a coke get a free snickers' now the cheapness in me took the free snickers but i gave that snickers away!!! pre-op i would have had a king size snickers and then ate 1/2 to 3/4 of steves k.s. snickers. donali is right about dumping on 30% of rny'rs actually dump! so if you had RNY and didnt dump and were a major sweet eater that did not commit to major lifestyle change then...your screwed! you are 100% right though about the junk foods, candy, milkshakes, refined carbs going down easy! -
GOOD LUCK DELARLA!!!! we expect you back and making us laugh ASAP!! michelle
-
i eat those too! for mexican at a restaurant- i order the chicken salad but dont eat the YUMMY shell it comes in or the chips. (oh i will someday but for now i want to LOSE!!!) at home i buy the low carb tortillas and make quesadillias or fajitas or tacos. i cant eat much but i do still eat the foods i love! pasta- i buy the low carb Pasta and eat it once a week, maybe twice! no problems! just get creative!
-
i can eat a hamburger with the bun. only about 1/4 to 1/2 of one though! some people cant tolerate meat or bread. TO ME thats to tight! i LIKE to eat! there are no foods i CANT eat. there are LOTS of food i chose to aviod now!
-
alexandra- i still buy tall in pants because otherwise they are to short! i have also been wearing alot of dresses! then i dont have to worry about it!
-
WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! dontcha LOVE being tall! i am 5'-9" and also FLIRTING with the teens!! i havent tried on 18 pants but all my 20's fit!!! your doing GREAT alexandra!!!!!! dont buy to many 18/20 cause 14/16 is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!!!!
-
i weigh probably 5 times a day... i dont hold much stock in what the scale says unless its down! i almost do it for kicks and giggles..."steve i gained 5 pounds from a glass of tea and dinner" or "steve i lost 3 pounds from getting naked!!!" someone once said dont count the gain unless its 5 pounds so thats what i do. 5 pounds can easlily be Water on any given day! sunday when i started my period i had a rude awakening!!! NO JOKE i was 261 saturday morning and by sunday morning i was 268!!!! now that i am off the damn thing i am back at 261! i didnt get upset because i knew what it was! the only scale i am a 'slave' to is my drs and i dont weigh there but once a month. my scale at home weighs the same so thats good! i will be checking my weight as soon as my scale says 250 at my dr's office to see thats its official! michelle

How often to you puke or spit up?
shellyj replied to GingerRenayd2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
since my last fill 2 weeks ago (3.4 cc's) not once, my fill before that one (3.2 cc's) 1-2 times in a month. i can eat all meats and i do. i do usually add some type of sauce to help lube up the throat/band area, i mix in bites of veggies with bites of meats. an unfill isnt a bad thing. dont sacrifice nutrition!! -
sweetie you need a fill!!!!!!!!!! the band is designed to work when properly adjusted for you!!!! it holds up to 4.0 cc's i had to have several fills to get to my SWEET SPOT! (perfect restriction) your dr wont call and say 'ok dear lets fill er up' its up to you to stay on top of it and tell them 'hey buddy i can eat!' i have 3.4 cc's (perfect for me) but at 2.8 cc's i could eat 2+ cups of food! go get a fill!!!!! it truly makes it soooo much easier! (((((hugs)))))))) i know and understand your frustraion!

http://www.findarticles.com/cf_dls/m1355/15_102/92524814/p1/article.jhtml after reading this it looks like a surgical error. i just thought i would share it since mistakes are always possable.
-
Delarla that is so true. i love that movie. i cant tell you how many times i have seen it. i do post complications or deaths because although rare they are possable. i like coffeewench's signature that she took from sue: "In my experience, my weight loss surgery WAS "the easy way out." So was my c-section. In both cases, the "the hard way out" was dying."~GeezerSue aka Nothergeezer i was at 350 when i started the wls journey. i was 26 having chest pain, shortness of breath, wheezing, pain in my joints etc. i DID NOT want to die. i am getting busy living! good luck delarla!
-
hey sue, i didnt realize it was so old. where did you see the other info? i couldnt find it. the article made it look like the dr perforated her stomache end of story. well everyone sure know now that she had the surgery. that is sad.
