I have been heavy all my life.  I was always the chubby kid.  Never really having a boyfriend when all my other friends did.  I was always athletic and always playing sports but that never helped me lose weight.  When I was 22 years old I had my daughter and my pregnancy I had gestational diabeties and once my daughter was born never got rid of the diabeties.  So I have been dealing with that for 13 years now total.  I had one doctor that I was seeing for the longest time she would just tell me go to the gym more and watch what you eat.  Well there is only so much of that I could do.  I would go to the gym for an hour a day doing cardio and the numbers just weren't going down.  With in the last year I found out that I have celiac's desease.  So it has been a total strugle.  I changed doctors to a doctor that I had as a teenage as our family physician and she had no problem refering me to start the lap band process.  I simply told her about having the diabeties since being pregnant with my daughter and then she asked how my mother was doing and I informed her that she had passed away when I was 19 years old and she was 46 years old of a massive heart attack and she said my mother was never over weight and she was putting in the referal right away because she wants to prevent me from ever having to miss out on my childs life.  What an awesome doctor she is.  While going through the process of getting insurance approval we did the sleep study and they found that I have a mild case of sleep apnea.  So I am hoping with all of this that my insurance company will not give me any problems and will aprove my surgery quickly.
