  1. I got my second fill, so I'm currently at 8 cc's in a 14 cc band. At 4 cc's I did feel SOME restriction, but everything went down, unless i took big bites, then it would linger...but eventually go down. But now that I have 8 cc's, even drinking cold Water I have to keep burping to get it down. I'm really nervous I'm going to be too tight. As the days go on do you get looser? I'm not sure how it works because I've never had full restriction before. Any recommendations as to what mushy food should I start with tomorrow?
  2. Great post. I am 3 months post op and started off at 299. I am now 34 lbs down. The first 34 lbs were ALL without a fill. I just got my 2nd fill on Saturday & I am finally feeling restriction. Yes, unfortunately, it is VERY likely that you will have saggy skin. Usually the most is in the arms & the belly area. Which can easily be covered with clothes, etc. It also depends on the elasticity of your age. I was worried about this also, and still am. But at this point I just think to myself "Well, I already hate seeing myself naked AND clothed because I'm so large. So hating seeing myself naked with saggy skin wont be any different AND I'll look amazing clothed!" The surgery portion of the lap band is about 45 minutes long. I experienced major discomfort after, but some say that they are almost perfectly fine following their surgery. Just definitely research good dr's in your area. Ask questions like "Who will be doing my adjustments" (the answer should be the surgeon) "How will you secure my port?" (The answer should NOT be "with a mesh") Is there a respiratory team/hospital nearby if anything WERE to happen? (obviously the answer should be yes.) Just ask a TON of questions. After getting my surgery there is no way I'd go back. I feel HOPEFUL of my future. I know that I'm going to continue losing & becoming more healthy. It's a great feeling. Goodluck on your journey and I hope this helped!

    Where is your port??

Mine is right under my left breast! maybe 5-6 inches above my belly button.

My Dr. is way too timid with fills

Wow, I guess Im lucky. My Dr does 4 cc's at a time, so I've had 2 fills and Im up to 8 cc's in my 14 cc band. Maybe try a different doctor? Or just ask him to do more! You can always come back for an unfill, so I dont see what the problem is.

    Fell off track

I'd say, if you love the bad foods, find the better option for them. Chips-they have vegetable chips that taste just like potato chips! Icecream-subsitute it for yogurt Dip-Go with hummus! Just keep working on finding healthy, quick alternatives! And try to slow down your eating. Throwing up every time you eat is not a good thing! I understand it's hard, because before my surgery I was a fast eater as well!

    Can I start excersizing?

I'm 11 days post op! I want to start jogging & working out these legs of mine. Is it too early? I have another post-op appointment on Friday - so I can ask my doctor. But I'd kind of like to start NOW According to how I'm feeling, I would think it'd be fine... but I tend to get ahead of myself! Any opinions?
  7. Eating like a cow... can't wait for first fill

    Dermabond over incisions.

I had dermabond as well. The shower will help the dermabond come off... which it's supposed to do. Mine was coming off on day 3 and I was freaking out! I called my doc and he said its completely normal. It was fully off at probably 8 or 9 days post op, and just the scabs were remaining. Its okay to shower normally & regularly.

    Stomach/Port Area Swollen

Because the band is sewn onto the ab muscles, this is a common occurrence. Anytime you're working those muscles your port site is going to be sensitive.
  10. Its okay if it's because you're full, that's what the band does. But if 2 bites of mushies literally wont go down then you have a problem.

    hard time with not drinking

I am having the same problem. Pre surgery I would drink multiple glasses of ice water with any meal - big or small. I LOVE to drink.

    Port Pinching and sore

Wow, 110 lbs - congrats, that's incredible. I hope to have the same success. Sorry for not having any advice or input on the actual post...
  13. The only people I've told are my mom, sister & grandparents. I live with my mom, and my aunt lives with us as well. My aunt and I do NOT get along, so I didn't want to tell her-because I knew she would never keep her mouth shut. So we just told her I had to get my gall bladder removed. Same scarring & such... same recovery process, it's laproscopic, etc. No one really asked any questions. Its a lie - which sucks... but it keeps people out of your business. Just thought I'd share.

    Scared 18 year old

Im 20 years old & 12 days post op. And let me tell you, there is NOTHING to be scared about. The surgery is so quick & easy. There will be some gas pain after the surgery, but the pain meds really help. Don't be worried, we have our entire life ahead of us. You'll do great.
  15. That's awesome! Almost 2 weeks post op and I can't wait for those non-scale victories!
  16. I'm 21 & just got banded. I was worried about it too, until I thought - hey, I'd rather be saggy & look good dressed than look huge DRESSED or NOT. lol, good luck, hopefully you get banded soon! It really depends on your skin... everyone's different.

    Surgeries after banding

Wow, that sounds terrible. I am 11 days post op, and so far I'm healing really well. Hopefully things get better & you can get back on track. Good luck

Life time of 15,000 from insurance

I hear most self-pay patients say its around 10,000 dollars.
  19. Congrats! How exciting. I'm 11 days post op - you wont regret it! =]

    sneezed ans stitch

I'm 10 days out as well, and my port site is also very tender. When I turn over, sit up etc. I don't want to say that having pain because of sneezing is normal though! Definitely contact the Dr. tomorrow! Just in case =] good luck!

    What's YOUR guilty pleasure?

A bowl of icecream or a cookie. But I find that I do a lot better... I eat ONE cookie opposed to the 5 I used to eat. And no, I don't feel guilty. WE ARE HUMAN, we still have taste buds and cravings etc. I figure as long as I satisfy my craving I wont ever need to go OVER BOARD. Great post!

When to fall in love ;) Consultation vs Insurance

Go to the seminar! The company that you do your lap band surgery through will be able to tell you pretty much immediately if you'll be covered. They do all the work with the insurance companies. Do you have PPO?

    Stress test

I was freaking out when I found out I had to do a stress test. I thought I was gunna die! Haha. So basically you take your shirt & bra off, lay down, and she takes an ultra sound of your heart. Then you get on the treadmill (with your shirt still off, thats the only awkward part) and they have to get your heartrate up. Mine was to 180 beats per minute or bpm. I literally was only on the treadmill for like 9 minutes... and I didnt get up to anything more than a slow jog. (Im out of shape, obviously! lol) So then you jump off the treadmill real quick, lay back down and she does an ultra sound of your heart after "stress" has been put on it. Its no big deal at all! Good luck =]
