Should this bother me? Cause it does

Honestly, it is probably about you. And it's sad that we, as humans, (not all, but a lot) can't enjoy someone's victory. But instead have to be jealous or envious of ones happiness. It's really a sick thing. I think that people often think that weight loss surgery is the easy way out. But little do people realize that we are sacrificing a lot by having this surgery. Keep on posting about your weight loss, and be very very proud. YOU are doing the WORK. You are changing your life for the better! Anyone whose not a part of that positivity should be shed along with the rest of that weight! Good luck!

    Incisional itching/swelling

Be careful! I did the same thing to mine & they ended up splitting open & infecting!
  3. Im frustrated FOR you. This is why I'm glad my SURGEON does my fills, I dont have to deal with all that crap and he listens. That's really not okay.

    Suggestions

Swimming! So great on the joints, bad backs & knees, etc.... that is, if you have a gym near by with a pool.

    Tomorrow I'm Banded!!!

Good luck. The hospital is a great place to "have" to stay after surgery. They spoil you! I stayed for 1 night and I didnt want to leave. I hope you have a pleasant (as possible) stay. Good luck with the surgery & I truly wish you success on this journey.

I did it. I did it! I am officially a bandster!!

I felt the same way when I woke up from surgery. "WHAT THE HELL DID I GET MYSELF INTO?" ...it was one of the worst pains I've ever been in. I don't know how people go home that day, I stayed over night in the hospital and they gave me drugs & liquids through an IV... I couldn't even think about drinking anything! Good luck, give it about 2 weeks and you'll start feeling like your normal self again!

    miserable

I would call around to different local lap band offices and tell them your story. Try & convince someone to help you for free. I'm so sorry to hear about your story & I truly wish I could do more to help. But I definitely think you need to get that unfill. Always throwing up is very dangerous. So sorry, hope things start looking up for you.

    Any help appreciated

Sounds to me like you need to find your "green zone" ...you need to go to your surgeon and tell him "GIVE ME RESTRICTION" ...nicely of course. You shouldn't be able to eat anything & everything. How many cc's is your band, and how many cc's are in it?
  9. THEgeorgiaPEACH

    eat anything.

When I was at 4 cc's I could easily eat a subway foot long. Now I'm at 8 cc's and I couldnt eat a quarter of a foot long if I tried. Sounds to me like you need another fill.

    Fill Advice ...Please

If you can't get liquids down then you should get a small unfill. But, if you can get your liquids down I would wait a few days until you can see if the swelling goes down.

Bandster Basics & A Day in The LIfe

Wow, one of the best posts I've seen on here.
  13. Honestly, if you WERENT feeling like this... you'd be crazy. We all go through this. It's a scary thing. If you were vomiting all the time, you can easily get an unfill! The surgery will go fine & you'll come out of there thinking "glad that's over" ...good luck!
  14. THEgeorgiaPEACH

Did this happen to you after your 1st fill?

You aren't on liquids? My dr makes me do liquids 2 days, mushies 2 days then to solid food. Your stomach is going to be swollen from the fill, so that will cause your band to be tight which will give you gas. Start liquids/mushies for 2 days... way less gas!

    Foods you cannot eat

I can't eat tortillas or potatoes. Potatoes especially, I have PBed everytime. I haven't tried salad or bread yet. I'm new to restriction, but LOVING it!

    Surgery Date

Your pre-op diet will be really difficult! But in the end it's all worth it. Good luck! Welcome to the banded life.

calorie intake pre-op, succes rate post op

The band (with restriction) makes it so that you can only eat 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food. And you feel full for 3-4 hrs after that. I guarantee you're eating more than that right now. I'm not saying I know for a fact it will work for you, because there are people who fail with the band, but I'm confident when I say I'm sure you'll be eating less once you reach full restriction. (Not to mention you're not able to eat carbs like bread & tortillas and cake....cause it will get stuck! so that makes it easier/less calories as well!)

    4 days out

Don't be afraid of this leg of your journey! This is the start of something great. Don't get discouraged if you don't have restriction for a while. When I was post op I still could eat anything and everything. But now, after 2 fills, I am at 8 cc's and learning what my band can & can't take. Since starting this process I am 34+ lbs down. Let the band work for you, don't eat around the band, and I know you will be successful! Keep in touch

    Waking up THIN!!!

    AMEN!

stuff to take to the hospital???

Honestly, on surgery day I came with nothing! Just myself & the clothes on my body (oh and my pillow.) The hospital has everything. You will have leg warmers & the little squeezer things on your legs that keep them SUPER warm. Good luck, I wish you great success!
  21. Don't get discouraged! The greatest thing about the band is the possibility for adjustment. Now, if you don't have restriction I would honestly just talk to your surgeon. There's no way your band is the size of a pencil if you can eat anything & everything. If your surgeon isn't willing to fill you I would recommend talking to a different surgeon. Getting a 2nd opinion never hurts. And sometimes the surgeon and the patient aren't a good match for each other. I trust you WILL NOT be another statistic! Restriction is needed for success with the band! I know you will achieve it. Do you know how many cc's are in your band, and the maximum amount of cc's allowed?

    pain collar bone/neck area

Honestly, walking is the only thing that helps. Walk up and down the hallway... I know it's so annoying, I wish I could tell you some magical cure Good luck

    Can ANYONE eat pasta post-banding???

"PB" stands for "productive burping" ...aka, if something gets stuck, you'll throw it up. It's just a better way of saying "I threw it up" It's not a good experience haha! but if your a bandster there's a good chance you will experience it

    Had surgery in May

There is an entire thread on high protein, band-friendly foods! If you need help finding it let me know I was banded June 24, 2011 so I'm not far behind you. 34 lbs down & finally feeling restriction-which is great! I have 8 cc's in my 14 cc band. Have a great day!
  25. Isn't it so strange?! I ate a 536 calories yesterday and was not the least bit hungry. It's almost scary. I can eat a nutrigrain bar & be perfectly fine for 3 hrs. Coming from the girl who used to eat an entire foot long from subway!
