WLS support group.....dunno if that was such a good idea
tengles replied to JinTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
in my city we have a general WLS group once a month, but also a small lap band group and small sleeve/bypass group. I go to the general one and feel that even though I am one of a few bandsters I do get support. In fact the last time I went we talked about some of the struggles I have with regards to eating and my band. Even though they all had bypasses done I learned so much. I will be attending my first small lap band group on Monday. Oh and also there will be a guest speaker at the small sleeve/bypass group and they said it would be great if I joined. I'm sorry that you do not have a "welcoming" group but stick with it, you just may get something out of it or even connect with someone so that you have a person face to face that knows what you are going through. -

That is something I finally have, a lap, after close to 4 years. My 15 yo daughter seems to really like it as she now sits on my lap a lot. -
I saw something today, that I have not seen in YEARS !

Congrats to you! -
I have been eating horribly the past few days. And since it is getting cold have not been walking. My mom bought my family ice cream sandwiches and I am eating 2-4 at a time. On MyFitnessPal I have already gone over my calories. Anyhow reading all these posts has helped me to not beat up myself. It is still no excuse for my eating and I just need to say no. But tomorrow is a new day and my goal will be to stay out of the freezer. I will not go into it for anything. I can do this! Tanya

Do U use Lap band ID for Kiddie/Sr/Smaller meals
tengles replied to stratcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have mine from Lap Band and was about to use it once but ended up not having to. Just ordered the kids buffet no questions asked. I love Mongos (our mongolian bbq place) and I guess when I use it there I can bring home what I do not eat. It is kinda a buffet style and they do not let people take home food. The one I am not sure of is Old County Buffet. My family likes to ge there to eat. I really like that the Lap Band offers the card. -

Weight 9/8/11: 189. No pounds lost, no pounds gained. Not doing so well on personal goal . Exercise goal: been driveing all day every day for last week , no time to exercise . Forgot what my dietary goal was, will post next week. -
So today I decided to eat some frosted mini wheats. I do not like milk so I started to eat them dry. I chewed really well but after I finished my serving (1 cup) I felt stuck. It hurt so bad. I ended up sliming, gaging and retching. After a half hour of sitting over sink sliming and trying to get myself to throw up I threw up all that I had eaten. When I could get past the pain of swallowing I did get some Diet Coke down to start PBs. Well I survived but am traumatized by the whole incedent. I guess I'l be careful what kind of dry cereal I eat. -Tanya
-
Fiber One Caramel Delight tastes good and goes down easy as a dry cereal.
-
My Dr also recomended Flintstones, Easy to chew and do not taste too bad. As for my other pills, I have no problem taking them right now. I have had only one fill and feel little restriction. Not sure what I will do when I feel restriction as it takes me forever to split and take all my pills.
-
NSV is for Non scale Victory. Pretty exciting when it happens. Tanya
-
PB is productive burp. when you eat to fast, don't chew food right or eat too much it will come up as a productive burp.
-
How is it for you so far? How many fills have you gotten. I have had only one, I get my second one next week. I do not feel any restriction yet. Kinda sucks, but moest people say they do not get restriction until 3 or 4 fills. Do you have any restriction?
-
What is slimming? PB...etc.
tengles replied to Jess527's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been stuck a few times usually because I'm not paying attention and eating too fast/ not chewing food. First if you remember to chew chew chew, and really pay attention you should not get stuck. When I got stuck it was a lot of pain in my chest and I could not swallow anyting down, not even my spit. Then I started sliming where I keep spitting out slime, it's clear and thick and really gross. I have to try to get a few sips of Diet Coke down, which is really hard when it hurts to swallow, and it releases the food without a productive burp. So does all this sound gross, yeap it is, but If you follow the rules it should not happen to you. Hope this does not scare you, I do not think it happens to everyone. -
so today I took my 3 year old to the park. He likes to swing and of course I don't, I never fit. So today when he wanted me to swing I sat on the seat AND I FIT! Pretty excited about this.

The End of Summer Challenge
tengles replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is the 5 day pouch test? I am down to 189. Far from the 180 I had for a goal, but still a weight loss . I did hit my goal of size 18 jeans . Personal goal hit about a 50% with not weighing myself everyday. Dietary goal was met, the only chocolate I get is my protein shake with a shot of hersheys. And finally my exercise goal is met. Pretty good in my book for a first challenge. What I will do different next time is to only do a 5lb loss goal and not 10. Looking foward to next next challenge. Tanya
