Great Job!
-
As the other posts stated, don't give up. Dig in and be determined. The sleeve is the first part of the gastic bypass so technically, you can have this done, then wait on the rest of the procedure and not get the second part, the switch, done. I have heard of this happening. don't know if it will work for you, I would definitely APPEAL, APPEAL, APPEAL till they said yes. Good Luck

Fantastic NSV and on being a newly wed. Keep working that sleeve girl, you are doing great.

Leslie I am glad you are doing so well. Keep up the great work. Before you know it you will be the "Sleeve-Pro" of this site.

Advice please

up your protein. Always eat your protein first even if you fill up on it and don't have room for anything else - I would cut out the potatoe as that is carbs and may be enough to set you back. Like Chef Neil stated change something. Definitely more water. Good Luck. -

SmokyMtnGal2011 replied to uromanager72's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sarah, I am so glad you started your journey to a healthier better you. I felt exactly as you do and I too am in the Pre-Op stage. I have been trying to change my view of food and how I use food for comfort, in boredom and when stressed. This 6 months is a great time to start a food journal and emotional journal. You will be surprised as how close extreme emotions trigger eating, at least for me it did. I am still working on that and am glad to have the 6 months to get my "head" in the "Losing stage" and let my body catch up after I get my sleeve. You have come to a great neighborhood on this site. WE are all in this together and we don't leave friends behind. So welcome to the block new little neighbor, we are glad you are here!!!!! :welcome: -

Pre-Op Diet, what has your doctor said?
SmokyMtnGal2011 replied to minikie's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Leslie How are you doing after surgery the other day??? Tell me all about it. Yes, I asked my Doc for information about after the surgery as I wanted to see (actually start) how I would have to eat before and after. So he gave me the after surgery disc they have. I printed it out and have in a 3 ring binder. It is very helpful and is allowing me time to get my head around the life change. It is a big change but one well worth the effort and time!!!! If I could just get motivated to excercise, that would be better. Still working on that. Hope you are recovering well, keep me posted... -

Did they do a hernia repair as well??? please take it easy and sip, sip, sip - walk, walk, walk. You will do great. -
There I said it, I am a convenient eater. If it is easy for me to eat then it is in my mouth. I am pre-op waiting 2 more supervised diet visits then hopefully surgery at the end of September or October. I have been trying to eat 1/2 cup amounts every 2-3 hours like I will be doing after surgery. I am eating high protein and trying to keep my carbs under 30 grams daily. So far I have lost 45 lbs since i started. Here is my issue, I am still in the same old habit of grabbing premixed protein drinks, already made fruit cups and applesauce and of course greek yogurt. I can't even get motivated to get up earlier to fix me an egg in the morning instead of the shake. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!!! I so want to change as I know the convenient eating is what got me in this unhealthy state I am in now. Fast Foods, Eating Out, it is such an quick solution to hunger. Even now, when I am trying to eat as I will after my sleeve, I continue to look for the easy way to feed me. Are there others out there like this???? What pointers do you have that I can use? Please help

Kelly L Thank you so much for the food tips. When I get home tonight, I a boiling some eggs (why didn't I think of that). I am going to get some of those chicken beasts and cook them up too. Never thought of the ranch dressing mix in the yogurt. I am gonna try that. Thank you again for all your ideas. They really help!!! -

dreynolds05, I am there I gave up my McDonalds sweet tea and was fortunate to see a small weight loss because of it. I know what you mean about the sub and chips. I will be glad when we both have a tool that will help us with portion size. I stuggle so with that. Please keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same. Good Luck -
2 Airline Seats?
SmokyMtnGal2011 replied to wondering1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I flew Southwest in March and had not problems at all. In fact, when i walk onto the plane, I always ask the stewardess for an extender right then so they don't have to bring me one later. I was not fortunate to have any one traveling with me so I put my sweater in the seat next to me and lucky, no one sat there so I could lift the arm rest and "spread out". Travel with your head high and enjoy your vacation and family. -

I am preop and my surgeon stated I will have to take Prilosec for the rest of my life which I have been taking for years anyway so it isn't a big deal for me. Like the others have said, you best check with your doctor and don't be surprise if Prilosec or some type of PPI becomes your daily routine. Good Luck. -

liquids with meals
SmokyMtnGal2011 replied to Gaylebco's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gaylebco I too am trying to not drink before, during and after meals but it is not working for me either. I have tried putting the dring in the frig or out of reach. Finally, I started putting a post it note on my glass and in the frig on my "water drawer" that says, IS IT TIME YET???? So far it is working. If I eat out and they bring me water, I put my knife in it to remind me. I have to have visual aids to remember things. Not sure this will help you but I hope so. Good Luck in your quest and let us know what you find works for you.
