    Newbie...introduction....

You are not a wierdo, well not much, lol. I think overweight people deal with food differently than others. Food is a comfort, or an emotional security blanket for us. Whether inherit or learned, food is our friend and is always there for us. To restrict visit with a friend would be silly. I think too hormones play a big role and the "i have to eat now" hormone in the top of our stomachs is our biggest enemy. With the sleeve that is taken out so food isn't a thought or "major NEED" any more. You will still have to deal with things in your life but not with food. Welcome to the loser's bench and to a wonderful tool that will help you achieve your goal of healthy. I am not sure it will help in the "Normal" request - I am not sure what " Normal" is anymore. Best Wishes.

    Low blood pressure?

Doesn't sound stupid at all. Low blood pressure can be as serious as high blood pressure. I am going through the same thing and have come off my BP meds and got a little better. Have you tried adding a little salt to your diet??? that will help some. I take my BP each morning and night to see how I am doing. Mine is finally runing around 108/65 it was running 96/55 for a long time and I felt tired. Feeling good now. You may want to discuss with your PCP. Do you take an aspirin daily??? that will thin your blood and can cause low BP. I would keep a watch on it and if it doesn't drop much lower, you feel great - don't worry. You should always check with your PCP about those things. Never hurts. Congrats on the being fit. Way to go!!!!!

  17. Waiting doing the silly supervised diet for 6 months - one more to go Sept 9th, then packet goes to insurance. this waiting is horrible. makes me want to eat cause it stresses me out. trying to keep busy but it is always there.

    Update

I will keep appealing till I get my sleeve. We must stay determined, we want it, we deserve it and the insurance needs to pay for it. We have done the hoops and they need to show the doctors the money. LOL. Keep me posted, maybe we will be sleeve buddies.
  20. SmokyMtnGal2011

    Update

Then APPEAL< APPEAL<APPEAL and don't give up till you get your sleeve. My 6th appointment is Sept 9th and I hate waiting even though I am trying my best to practice sipping and eating slow. Still I hate that the insurance makes you do the hoops. They are gonna pay, why not just PAY all ready. Waiting sucks. Please keep me posted on your progress perhaps we can be sleeve buddies. Good Luck.

    Allow me to reintroduce myself...

Love the new you!!!! good luck on your journey
  23. I am still in my pre-op stage of VSG with 1 more supervised PCP visit for my insurance required 6 supervised diet visits. So far I have lost 49 pounds as I have been "practicing" eating as I will after surgery. I went to my PCP Friday and was taken off my high blood pressure medicine. I am so excited!!!!!! I have been on HBP meds for over 20 years so this is BIG for me. I just had to share for those who are Preopers like me, you can do this and it is worth the preparation to get that smaller liver, lose what you can before surgery and change those habits now. Eating slow and sipping are the hardest for me, but I am still working on it. Thanks for all the support each of you give on this site. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!

    weight loss during pre-op diet

Please don't set yourself up for disappointment when you stall thinking this surgery is a quick fix to your weight loss. So many people do that and the VSG is a life style change so do not set your goals high and be disappointed. I am going into the VSG knowing this is only a tool and the hard work, determination and success all come from ME. It took 55 years to weigh over 300 lbs and if it takes 1/55th that to lose some I will be very happy. Remember, there are other wins besides the scales.

    So many nerves!!

Nerves are normal as with any surgery. You will be fine. You are in capable hands with your surgeon and staff and you will be in the hospital. All will be good. Follow their instructions as it isn't their first rodeo even thorugh it is your first. It will not be as bad as you imagine so don't stress. Just ask for pain meds, walk, meds, walk. Keep us posted on your progress. You are going to be a great inspiration to us!!!!! Best wishes and healing quickly angels!!!!!!!!
