My Gastric Sleeve Story
boots1 replied to CodenameSpivey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You overcame a lot of obstacles and so glad that your journey is starting to get easier. -
Big Griz, you are right.... the mental game is the hardest to win. Our minds and habits are what we have to overcome, that is why we are at this point in our lives. 90% of the time we eat and we are not really hungry. I have not been hungry while intaking the Protein drinks and I eat a large salad for lunch with turkey or chicken, but I catch myself wanting to snack. I am a catering manager and I am surrounded by food all day. So it is easy to grab a muffin, tasting what is going out the door etc. Starting this earlier than prescribed by the doctor, I feel is beneficial to start healthy habits. Being a member of this forum, and knowing that we are not alone and other people have the same struggles and desires will be a big help on this journey.

I bought some grape and orange isopure online at Amazon, qualified for free shipping and the nectar in the lemonade flavor I think is really good. I am already experimenting and finding out what I like before my surgery. The nectar I mixed with sugar free Jello (the powder you make yourself) so I will have Protein jello when I need it. I am done with my food funerals and have been off my diet mtn dew now 2 whole days. I really miss my best friend. Glad that you all are doing well....it is very encouraging to us that are following you.

Great!!! This blog is now a favorite...... Kind of like when.... we whine to God, help me lose weight ......help me lose weight....He wants us to take action,....... He will do what we can't do if we will first do what we can do. thanks for posting.
-
I agree with the above joke.....it is a joke but it is so true...We pray for help, but then we won't take action. We need to do what we can do ......and God will do what we can't do. I have prayed like all of you for a miracle and I have faith that God will provide a miracle....He just does things His way....not necessarily the way we expect. I know He is with me on this journey and I have more peace with this decision than I have had in a long time. Many Blessings to you all. Sandra Everything is permissable for me--but not everything is beneficial. I will not be mastered by anything. 1Corinthians 6:12

Hello my birth certificate says I am 48, but my mind, doesn't think so. I have two great kids 23 & 25....recently divorced after 27 yrs of marriage. Husband turned 50 and lost his freaking mind.....but I digress. It is very encouraging to see other 40 somethings being successful. Sleeve 4 me...I saw you were quoting Joyce....I am a fanatic.....her program literally saved my life when I was going through my divorce....I have her teaching cd's and listen to her over and over.....Her encouragement and my ever growing faith in God is what gives me the strength to go and do this thing. This isn't the twist I was expecting my life to take but I will continue to look for the treasure in my trials.......I am blessed to be able to finish my journey better than I started. Many blessings to you all.

When you get to go home in a few months you will have to introduce your new self....please continue to write may be it will help me to figure out my relationship with food.. Once again thanks for sharing.

Just wanted to say I enjoy your blogs. But for the life of me, I am curious as to what you work at....to make enough money.... to make it worth your while.... to leave your husband, home, and family behind. Just curious...but please keep writing and sharing.

I am not computer literate or anything, Just wondering if you can put everyone on a excel sheet then attach...Just a thought. I have never tried it, but there is an attachment tab at the bottom.

You better be careful Mama Jack will take a stick to you!!

Hi I tried too. It acted like it was trying to open but it was really slow and I stopped it. I have been in it once before and it didn't act like that..... it was fast ..........so may be a problem.

Hey my redheaded sister, you are such a blessing you always make me smile!!!!!!!!!! Who is who?........I don't remember who was who in the movie, but I am the older one and can handle a gun. Although the younger one slept with Brad Pitt. Just remember if it happens again you will share. lol -
Hello Mommieto2, I understand your fears regarding your small children, mine are grown and I still have the same fears as you. but like you I feel this will extend my life and the quality of life that I have left. I want to once and for all have this monkey off my back.....do you have family or friends to help out once you get home??? I live alone so I don't have to care for anyone but myself. I plan to go back to work 6 days post op as well. I am active, but do have an office and explained to my assitant and to my boss that I will not be lifting for a few weeks and I am fortunate they are very supportive. Good luck to you......I am the day after you. I will put you on my prayer list. God Bless!

boots1 replied to Pinkbetty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am like Autumn, I can't wait to start my new beginning. I still have several days before my surgery, but I already have my fridge stocked, most of the items I need to take in a suitcase already. I tired of jumping through insurance hoops and took matters into my own hands. I would be sitting here this time next year still waiting and still fat. -
Hello, another newbie starting her journey

Surgery date is set, July 25
boots1 replied to artmama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There is a thread on here that explains how to do it successfully. It is pinned and shouldn't be too hard to find. I was able to do it by following the easy to understand instructions. Good luck. -

Hello Artmama, we are about the same age and weight, I am a couple of days after you. like your husband said we aren't getting any younger. We have similar stories, obese at 14 and losing the weight only to gain it all back plus some. I wish you the best and I will add you to my prayer list. Let me know your progress. Sandra aka Boots -
Wow good for you ........that was fast. You are a day ahead of me. I am self pay but wanted to wait until a convenient time to take off work. I will put you on my prayer list. Best Wishes and we can meet on the losers bench.
