Would you sleeve again?
virtygirl replied to Ellie4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes without a doubt. I had developed asthma over the last few years and over the last 2 years, it was getting progressively worse. I was borderline pre-diabetic and that sealed the deal for me. I am going into my 8th week and do not have one regret. All of the small issues such as learning to sip, sip and eat much smaller portions are worth the end goal. -
anyone? have sinus/drainage after sleeve?

I took had that problem a couple of weeks ago. I finally went to get some liquid benadryl. It helped tremendously, I was finally able to sleep. -

You fantastic. Way to work that sleeve. Your update is a motivator for others not there yet. -
Great work on the weightloss and beating the onset of depression. I agree this forum is awesome and everyone is so helpful. A lot of times I find that if I'm thinking of a question I can search around up here and more than likely someone has asked and answered the question. I also love reading up on the progress everyone is making.

List of foods that you can eat when fully healed
virtygirl replied to posiemac's topic in Food and Nutrition
Hi RitaBee, I am 7 weeks out and I have not tried to eat a salad yet. However, I went back to my trusty binder and I could have started eating 1/4 cup at 5 weeks out. I am planning on trying one out this week. I would double check with your surgeon's office if the NUT is not associated with them. My NUT was not associated with the surgeon's office and alot of what she told me varied from his in NUT. -
Hi Chris ~ congratulations on a job well done!! As the other posters have already stated you look fabulous and really a lot younger in than the old you. What a testimony, thanks so much for sharing your journey. Wishing you continued good health and happiness!

I KNOW I'm not supposed to compare my weightloss to others buuuuut.....
virtygirl replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I thought I'd chime in on the Isopure. The only way I can drink it is to mix it up sorta like a cocktail by mixing it with crystal lite or another drink mix, then add in some true lemon or true orange and ice. It isn't the best but it is drinkable. So try mixing it up with something you like--juice or crystal light, etc. Until you can get to a taste that is more palatable. Good luck! -
Congrats... Nice NSV!

Leg-Tangle: The Very Short Tale of One Woman's NSV
virtygirl replied to JackieOMonroe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm waiting for that one too. Yay for you. -
Yep, I can relate. Before surgery I felt like I was hot most of the time even hot flashing at 41 with the exception of my office, which is freezing year round. I now travel with a light jacket or sweater. I keep a wrap at work as well as my heater close at hand. I didn't think it would happen to me, but boy was I wrong.

Amazing! Sending wRm happy vibes to you. Have fun in Portland. -
Hi I agree with Anca, I will be six weeks post op tomorrow. I have moved on to most foods except certain vegetables and salads. Canned tuna, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fish--tilapia, salmon, chicken etc. Try eating something of your choice and take it slow. Good luck!

How much weight loss in 1st week?
virtygirl replied to jillw8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi I lost 10 pounds in the first week but at least 5 of those were the pounds I regained from the IV fluids. I'm finding that if the scale isn't moving much in pounds the inches are adding up. -
That is so awesome, keep workingn that sleeve.

Congrats! How great that your numbers healthwise are much improved. Also the 40lbs is awesome as well. I can relate to losing more inches than actually pounds. Keep up the good work. -

I agree with everyone else, go for it! At 42, I'm considering having braces put on as well. This will complete the transformation.

FINALLY! The scale moved yesterday, .5lb and another 1.5lbs this morning. Today I'm 4 weeks out from surgery and I've lost 22lbs including the 2 lbs from this week. I have been on pause for about week and half. I'm really excited because as my own personal goal I wanted to be at least 26lbs lighter by my 1-month follow-up at the surgeons office next Wednesday. That'll be 10% of my original weight gone. Even though I've read enough about stalls on the boards being in one eludes all rational thought to the point of being consumed by ways and thoughts on how to get the scale moving again. I know that folks say don't focus on the scales or pounds, yadda, yadda, but as those who've been here know that's darn near impossible. But the good news to that is while on pause I did lose inches, because I went shopping in my closet and was pleased with the results, especially as I am returning to work on Monday. Also like many I HATE THE GYM, EXERCISING in all forms. However I know it is an essential part of the program so I am trying to be faithful and work it. Having said that I have found a method that is easing the pain of spending an hour hill walking on the treadmill greatly. My e-reader and a good book. The hour passes fairly quickly, thank goodness! Just wanted to share.
