I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!
virtygirl replied to jasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am truly sorry that you are not feeling well and experiencing a bit of buyer's remorse at the moment. I completely understand that you are probably sick of hearing it will get better and you will learn to love your sleeve. You will feel better, you just have to pace yourself to get past this hurdle. You will need to experiment with Protein Water, shakes, etc. to find something that is tolerable. For instance, Isopure is so gross to me, but if I mix it with zero calorie, sugar free gatorade or crystal light, I can drink it. I admit it still does have a bit of "that" taste, but it is tolerable. Hot peppermint tea, Gas-X and walking greatly helped with the gas pain. Best of luck to you in getting over this hurdle ~ just remember, it will pass. -
Were Your Eyes Wide Open?
virtygirl replied to yecats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all ~ I agree with others who've stated that it is impossible to be completely 100% prepared for this major life changer. It took me 13 months from the time of my 1st NUT appointment to surgery and I literally read everything that I could get my hands on. The short answer, NO, I was not completely prepared. Did I experience buyers' remorse? Yes, a bit. Was it short lived? Yes. Do I regret having surgery? H** NO, I would do it again in a minute. Even though the experience has had some ups and downs so far, overall, my health has improved and I feel so much better. I know that if I had not had the surgery, I would be on a rapid descent into major health issues, thus cutting my life short. This is literally the best thing that I've ever done for myself and my family. No, I can't eat the way I used to, but really why would I want to; it was the primary cause leading to my unhealthiness. Do I miss certain foods, sometimes, overall no. Do I still experience cravings and head hunger - definiately. I think that I always will, the key is to find strategies to cope with those feelings. For true cravings, have a bit of whatever you're craving and then move on. Head hunger strategies are bit more complicated and different for each individual, hence I am still working on that one. As long as we follow the program and incorporate new strategies of mindful eating, working out and learning to love ourselves we will be successful. Continue to look forward to a new healthy lifestyle. Cheers! -

I Totally Graduated!
virtygirl replied to Candace2314's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations Candance! I graduated this week too from my master's program. Way to go. -
I have to I'm in the same boat. MrsKoubik, when we purchased my ring it needed to be sized to a 9.5 and it is an invisibile setting....it broke. We had to wait an additional six weeks for it to be made to my size. I was told when I finally did get it that it could not be sized up or down more than half a size or it would break. Soooo, I will need to have it remade or pick a new setting. Good luck!

LindaS, I'm glad the Genie bras work for you. I tried the Ahh, bra and they went back faster than you can say send back. They simply did not fit my boobs. Not a good look or any support whatsoever.

First let me say congratulations on the smaller panties. Secondly, I love camis, I too love the extra warmth. I actually need to buy some in a smaller size my old trusted ones are getting too big *sigh* and yay at the same time. I also agree that Ross, Marshall's and TJ Maxx is an excellent place to purchase such items.

Just Beginning -- How Does The Gastric Sleeve Effect Your Stamina/energy?
virtygirl replied to New in 2012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Sophia, I am currently about 4.5 months out and about 46 pounds lighter. Like you I'm a grad student, a FT employee, wife, mother and the list goes on. My energy and stamina has greatly increased. This was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It is quite an adjustment I have to admit, but well worth the change. Best wishes! -
